I really dislike the assumption that just because a dog is not on a lead it is going to worry farm animals. A dog should be under control. and a lead does NOT equal control. Some dogs actually are less under control on a lead than off one.as they feel restrained and can pull the owner off their feet or lurch around causing injury to themselves and owners. Working breeds such as collies are far better to be trained to walk alongside an owner they hate being on lead. While I hate the fact wildlife and farm animals are being harmed, don''t immediately assume it is just because "dogs aren't on leads." Rather, urge people to keep their dogs away from all farm animals, and keep the dog under control. There are two comments I want to pickup on. one dog owner said, you never know what your dog is going to do. Well, that's his dog. I know my own dog very well and have walked through areas with wildlife and sheep and she is totally under control. The other comment is, it's for everyoen's benefit. No, it's for the benefit of the farmers, the wildlife and the farm animals (in case of dogs that might attack) but not in the benefit of the owner or the dog. So that's not true.
