A very interesting walk! Thanks for sharing. I heard that The Ridgeway is believed to have been the first route into Britain, when it was joined to mainland Europe over 8,000 years ago. For at least 5,000 years travellers have used the Ridgeway. It provided a reliable trading route to the Dorset coast and to the Wash in Norfolk.
Always wanted to walk in the footsteps of the ancients/drovers etc. Since learning about The Ridgeway when young. Through Wiltshire, away from the urban sprawl Thank you Dave. Liverpool aged 82 🕊️
Just silence, birds chirping, wind whispering in the trees (or in the microphone 😄), blue sky with perfectly lined up clouds, sounds of footsteps ... almost everything you need for a bit of happiness and to calm down. Thanks a lot
@@DavesWalks Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to respond to me; you are incredible. Continue to achieve great things, and great things will come your way!
@@DavesWalks - Oh...love that it inspired you, to the point of starting this wonderful channel. I can certainly see why. It has a bit of everything in it. Great pace as well. Stunning.
Very nice walk in the countryside, following a country road, which becomes a small grassy road and then a path. Fields of Rapeseed as far as the eye can see and green fields too, but yellow predominates!!. Very pretty views of the treetops and sky; real lace. A friendly hello from Dave to start; thanks to him. 😀😀😀😀😀
hello dave :) i'm playing this video for the fifth or sixth time or something and for the first time have noticed you waving right at the very beginning - i think that's wonderful! it's a friendly greeting before setting off. what a great way to start the walk. :)
Holed up in my bedroom with Covid and a torn calf muscle and stumbled upon your channel, what a stunning collections of walks which has brightened up my day no end. I love getting out and walking in the countryside, which I am really missing at the moment, but with your videos it's like I am almost there with you. Keep up the great work it is much appreciated.
Hi Dave, I have enjoyed a few of your walks but it would be so nice to know where they are in UK and possibly a little narration to point out landmarks etc. I am very fond of Tony Robinsons series and he makes it all the more interesting by stopping at these landmarks and telling the story about it. Just a suggestion.
Nothing intentional, was just some piled up sticks from children playing, I thought the treetops were looking particularly beautiful in that moment swaying in the wind.
The yellow flowers are called rapeseed, they produce an oil that is an alternative to olive oil. Whilst the name is kind of inappropriate, it comes from the Latin word "rapum," meaning turnip which the plant is a relation of.
The portion of this in the forest with the path between the tall trees. I’d like to walk that. Can you share approximate coordinates or a Google maps pin?
It’s 105*F in TX today! Thanks again Dave, for helping me ‘escape’ this barren wasteland!
Happy to help!😊👍
99°F in NC today - I'm here for the same reason!

Yes, yes. I can picture myself being the kind of man you are, walking along the countryside, like, alone enjoying all that I see. Very nice.

I don't think I have ever seen such perfectly hanging clouds on the horizon before. Literally picture perfect; only Dave could manage this! 😁
Glad you enjoyed it Janet 😊👍
2 hours on a National Trail? Love it.
Was a delight to finally get round to filming this one! Glad you enjoyed it Dan 😊👍
My wife and I walked the length Ridgeway in 2018, and it was the best hiking experience we've ever had.

The ridgeway is easily one of my favourite walks, have done this stretch many times over the years, glad to finally share it with everyone!

What a gorgeous route you chose for this walk Dave mate. Loved it. Great views, and lovely weather. Superb.
This was the walk that inspired me a few years back, it's on this walk that the idea of my UA-cam channel came to fruition.

48:20 Ahhhhh such an amazing view honestly. 2 hours with a camera, hiking all alone. Your arm must be huge but watching this is so relaxing! 😁
Glad you enjoyed it! It is a very light camera set up that is no strain at all on my arms 😊👍
Used to visit countryside when it was summer nothing beats country air in summer

Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks 😊👍
The tree branches stacked in the shape of a teepee is a typical Sasquatch shelter. 👍

Hey Dave, sind die Schatten lang, also Abendsonne? Oder kurz.....
ziemlich spät am abend war die sonne nicht mehr weit vom untergang entfernt.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Excellent Dave, but where is this compared to London? 🇬🇧 c
It's about 100 km West from London :)
@@DavesWalks thanks
that view looks like a damn screensaver lol
1:49:25 Why did you prevent that thing from being filmed by pointing the camera at the sky?
Nothing intentional, was just some piled up sticks from children playing, I thought the treetops were looking particularly beautiful in that moment swaying in the wind.
😍😍😍😍😚😚😚😚😚
Different question…what kind of crop is that with the yellow flowers?
The yellow flowers are called rapeseed, they produce an oil that is an alternative to olive oil. Whilst the name is kind of inappropriate, it comes from the Latin word "rapum," meaning turnip which the plant is a relation of.
Dave question?? How many miles do you walk?? I'm kind of nosy, I hope I am not asking too much!
On a day out filming, up to about 10 or so, after that my legs start to complain..
@@DavesWalks Well, you do good in walking that long :) I use too :) :) It is so beautiful stay healthy can't wait too see more videos!
What are the fields of yellow flowers?
They are rapeseed flowers that when harvested make rapeseed oil 😊👍
I noticed a number of ‘shelters’ made out of branches. Do you have Sasquatch in England? Or maybe a prank.
No sasquatch in England.. That I know of.. The shelters are probably the result of children having fun.
Oh my, what were those semi-modified wood tee-pee type structures?
Where at? not sure what you mean?
The portion of this in the forest with the path between the tall trees. I’d like to walk that. Can you share approximate coordinates or a Google maps pin?
