Y'all, I had SO MUCH FUN this past weekend participating in Capture The Words. It resulted in a very chill 6K words for the weekend and invigorated me to push through a rut. I didn't do this competition, but I did do nano this time around. I didn't get to my goal, I only wrote around 7k, but I forced myself to write every day and I'm proud of myself for that. Plus 7k added to a draft isn't terrible either. Thanks for always making such great inspiring videos :)

I can't stand working with others (That's why "I'm A Writer" ) I don't like classes or completions either.. I found that having many different Fiction Writer craft books is the way to go. None of them has everything you need to know in just one book or class. Many call the same technique or tool different names just to confuse everyone as well. But I'm sure now after about ten years into this I got it down pat. So much to learn it's mind boggling, and it looks easy to a reader when written well, but hard to emulate.
As someone from Belgium seeing you make waffles and drink Chimay makes me so happy :D I hope you enjoyed it. (Also, not a fan of Chimay but my husband really likes it. I'm more into the fruity beers like 'kriek' (cherry beer), they're the only ones I like apart from basic beer like Stella or Jupiler) aaaaaanyway loved the video, loved the vibes, thank you for sharing.

I think they're talking about bringing it back for November/NaNoWriMo, potentially!! I'll be spamming them asking for it lolol. Definitely follow Anne and Jessica (linked in the description), they'll have updates. :)
Hey Kate, do you suppose you would do a video on your editing work flow in Scrivener at some point? Does it differ depending on what draft or what type of changes you intend to make etc.? Would be very interesting to see, maybe for when Cauldrons is ready to be edited?
Your videos have helped me write my first novel. I love going back and re-watching your videos. I really want to start a youtube channel, but I'm nervous of starting. I tried to film a video, but I was super awkward, and not confident like yourself. How do I become confident?
If you rewatch my early videos (sort by oldest on the main channel page) you can see that I sound different too!! It's taken a lot of practice. But it's definitely so worth it! I love having a video diary, basically, of my writing journey. It's okay if the first videos don't land exactly how you want, just enjoy experimenting and sharing your story/journey! You'll find your footing soon. :)

❤❤ I saw the announcement for the event, but decided not to participate as summer with 3 kids is hard😅 but I am so happy I took time to participate in Camp Nano and even taking 2 days with 0 words I managed to do 5k over my goal and ended up managing 20k for the month🎉. I. So impressed I made it because in April I didn't manage 14k(altho my goal was 10k). I always like to put author tuber videos while working (specially old ones to feel Im writing with friends😅). Big hugs

I'm so intimidated by writing dialogue! It's amazing that you find it so easy to do. Do you have any resources to help out writers specifically with dialogue? I'm worried mine is always boring and stunted.

I wrote about 21k for camp nano… not quite my 30k goal, but I’m still happy. I started an August tracker on the nano site today with a new 30k goal, and I’m at about 1,900 words for it so far. ❤

I DO TOO. I know because I follow Jess and Anne! They have a lot of awesome events (and are friends with people who ALSO create awesome events) so that's how I stay sorta in the loop!
I spent part of my childhood near Chimay. So random 😂
(I would recommend the red Chimay, it's a little fruitier, or the golden one, it feels lighter. Though I personally like mostly the fruit beers like kriek, pecheresse, apple beer, etc.)
Oooh okay, I'll be on the lookout!! My partner agrees with you about the red and gold! He said they didn't have any in the store he went to though bahaha.
@@KateCavanaugh It's already amazing that you find them in the US, when I lived in WA over 10 years ago, it was a rarity, but they stepped up their import game. The most insane thing is the price, a Blue Chimay is less than $2 in Belgium !
