  • This is the first (and only) episode in what was originally going to be a miniseries about my life, creative process and tools I use to write, mix and release my music as an independent artist. I don't have the time to continue this series in any further episodes, but we had an incredible time making this short film. Sorry I didn't get into any of the instruments or gear. That failure (which was my fault thinking I'd do more episodes) keeps me up at night...

It's nice to see someone having a fun personality and not speaking like a pretentious academic about their music process. Also, really appreciate the effort in terms of production quality. There's still a desire for that. Not everything on UA-cam needs to be shaky in your face selfie videos with a thousand quick cuts. Keep doing you! And pumped for the episode on mixing piano.

For someone like myself still producing in an apartment this was a very interesting watch, thanks for sharing Tony (showed up in my recommended)! If I'm ever in LA it'd be fun to meet up and talk about creativity, music, being independent etc. I definitely see a lot of similarities in our approaches to it all but also some differences that could result in a valuable exchange - Would also be cool to hear how the awesome studio sounds in person haha. I love that you kept cutting back to footage of you working on that one track throughout the video. Its so easy to compare our own music we're working on and hearing over and over again with some piece of fully finished and released music, forgetting that it was built slowly and incrementally too. Often it's Tony Anderson tracks that give me this feeling lol, so needless to say I found this very reassuring.

You put it perfectly by saying "Music that will be a gift to someone that will unlock them" - that's exactly how I would describe how your music and this genre impact me. The Heart of Man was one of the greatest if not the greatest album I've ever heard. Each track seemed to echo one another and yet had their own distinction in a way that words almost fail to describe. Even the cover's artwork was remarkable.

Hi Tony, i'd like to say this is my unofficial open letter to you.
But first i just have to say thank you for all the beautiful music you have been making!
This is a great video and this is the first time i am actually getting to watch a personal video of you doing your thing,.. its really refreshing to finally gain abit of insight into your thought process, what inspires you, how you make your music, your audio equipments and abit about your personal life. Thanks for sharing!
You sir are God-sent and i'll like to let you know that your music has been my major source of inspiration!
Your story about how you first quit music to pursue other things till you finally decide to come back to it goes on to reinforce my belief that nothing can ever beat true passion and that no matter how hopeless or unpromising the prospect of pursing ones true passion might seem,... WE MUST NEVER GIVE UP ON THAT DREAM.
I got introduced to your music circa 2018 by youtube auto-suggest, given i like to watch alot of Nature/Urban & Natural Landscape Films with ambient relaxation music.
The video was titled Peru 8k featuring your music: Eyes Wide Open, the moment the video opened and the music cued in, i was instantly sold.
I am into alot of landscape/nature/abstract photography and drone Videography/Cinematography and i will like to say prior to discovering your music; over the years i had listened to several hundreds of music ranging from the ambient/atmospheric/deep focus/cinematic music/post-rock genre and playlists on Spotify and beyond, to movie scores and i'll like to say NONE, and i mean NONE of those music spoke, connected and inspired me like yours do!
Even though i did favorite alot of those songs, created playlists and i love to listen to them repeatedly and always enjoy them, they just never inspired me creatively.
When Listening to your music whenever i am driving or working or just purely relaxing, i am just busy visualizing different images in my head (while i am enveloped in the rich textures and soundscape of your music) about the aerial videos i would love to shoot, the scenery, how i want the cinematography to be like.. & when i am done shooting & still nursing ideas later on on how to go about my editing, all i just do is find any of my favorite music of yours to listen to and i get inspired.
Suffice to say, Your music guides how i choose to edit my videos (all my workflow basically) to the final cut!
I am ALWAYS listening to your music while i am editing.
Some days when i am just sitting idle, listening to your music...., the ideas for my next video shoot just start materializing in my head and i go out & just do it!
Your music has been a major source of INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION in my Content Creation Process!
I've been able to publish few of my completed, short drone films on YT and i am so grateful for your music.
I still got quite a number of unedited footage which i'd shot over time and i am still in the process of putting them together into short films as time goes by!
Your music constantly gives me inspiration!
Fun fact, i'm currently ranked top 0.05% of your listeners on Spotify.
I could go on and on, but for the sake of TL;Dr (which this already is, lol), i just have to say Thank You for all you have been doing! I am immensely grateful for your music!
Keep up the good work, Sir.
I am really looking forward to seeing episode 2 of your studio tour, hopefully soon! :)
PS: I also just watched, your new Video: Debris.
There are no words to truly describe the immense horror that unfolded that day, no words to express how heartbreaking it is to watch in such great amount of detail as you have so much put in the effort to make sure we see,..but in the middle of it all, it has also been really very enlightening altogether. THANK YOU.
I am currently listening to your new album Debris as i am writing all these. YET ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!!!
Peace & Love be unto you from this Domain!

Tony. Back in 2016, when I first heard your music on Music Bed (I edit for a living), I was blown and way and instantly wanted to know how you were making this music.
I came across a blog post you had made about your process and tools, and that was the first time I learned that virtual instruments and orchestras were even a thing! I was instantly inspired by your music and process, and the idea that I could create a full cinematic piece on my own inside the box. This put me on a journey to learn to compose cinematic music, and I'm still on that journey today.
Thanks for continuing to inspire me with every new track you release, and I know that this new series you are doing is going to be the catalyst for so many new composers, just like that blog post was for me.
THANK YOU. Please make many episodes! :)

An absolutely spectacular video, Tony. I'd easily watch this for hours assuming that I'm not listening to your incredible music already.
Journey and Bloom, is easily amongst my top 5 music pieces from you. Wish to hear more impactful, emotional and motivational songs from you like Journey and Bloom and of course like any other amazing music that your produce.
    Keep up the great work!

Got here via Andrew (who isn't right now:). After watching the first 1m47, I already want to be playing all the synths and put 10 different verbs on all of it. Or maybe, first watch this video??:) Keep it up man. Cheers from Holland!
Edit: Yup, watched the rest. GREAT video :) Looking forward to maybe, eventually, hopefully, sometime in the future see part two of this wondrous room you call your studio. I call it land of envy. I might buy one of those dust blower thingamajigs. And maybe one of those OB-thingamabobs. Laterrr!

BTW...as fans of spirits (as you can tell by our channel name), love seeing the decanter of bourbon on the desk. We live just outside of KY and big fans ourselves.

@@TonyAndersonMusic OMG. We're jealous of that as we're unable to get that here in OH. Funny you mention that though as we were lucky enough to grab the only 2 bottles of Weller Antique Reserve on the shelves at our local spot. Looking forward to popping them open and making an Old Pappy with them.

Hello Tony. First of all, I have enjoyed watching the video. It is fresh, genuine, natural and even fun. Great job. Secondly, I love your music. Your music is fantastic dude. It really is. I really like it and I find it inspiring. You have a huge talent for composing beautiful music, sounds and melodies, in various forms and genres. Deep music, ambient, cinematic and so on. But I wanted to ask you something, have you ever considered creating / producing Trance Music?. Trance Music is very special, it really touches soul, heart and mind, in a very similar way to your musical creations. I honestly think that you would be great at it, given your talent, if you ever wanted to create Trance Music. To me, both your music and Trance music are heavenly music, pure musical art, full of emotions, feelings and positive energy, a great musical journey. Keep up the big inspiration. Please keep producing such amazing, beautiful, touching and inspiring music. With it you make many people a little happier. Greetings from a big fan of your music.

I totally understand the sitting in the Chair. I totally agree on how essential it is to just calmly center yourself. Whenever I want to make music on my piano I do something similar. Coffee, feel the wind or breath in the fresh air, allow my mind to relax, then become inspired. I also live in Joplin Missouri making music but only on my piano. Another video idea maybe. If someone is trying to start making ambient music what equipment or programs is a good place to start. I also love your music bro. Your music inspires me to continually improve

This is by far one of the most inspiring studios I have seen! Thanks Tony! One random question, are you ever concerned about your super nice keyboards sitting in sunlight through the windows -- or any other equipment for that matter that is exposed to sunlight? Some of my keyboard keys yellowed in the sunlight...but maybe they were just inexpensive... :)

Hey Tony! Still hoping for episode 2 someday! But in the meantime, about those synths…which one would you recommend if you had to pick just one? I’m coming from the wonderful world of softsynths (Diva, Zebra, Repro, Omnisphere), but I’m interested in going down the synth road. Thanks for any advice you can offer, and please keep making incredible music!
