Another VERY important point to add which am surprised wasn't addressed: WHICH UNITS CAN ACT AS A UPS (constantly plugged in for smooth switchover) - and which must only be connected when there is loadshedding.
it's refreshing to have a 'local' advise on generators. We are brits that travel to SA every year, for the last 20 years for holiday of about 2 months each time, so losing power has been bewildering. I think we will purchase the ECO Flow for our needs really just to watch TV in the evenings and to run our 'UPS' for wifi. Realising there are solutions is great. Thanks for this informative video.
Just note that there is also a difference between Lithium-ion and LifePo4, which last must longer than regular lithium, which is usually in the older or cheaper power stations.
Thank you for sharing your insights! You're absolutely right about the difference between Lithium-ion and LiFePO4 batteries. It's important to consider battery longevity when choosing a portable power station. The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series uses LiFePO4 batteries, which provide durability and can support over 4000 cycles. It's a great option to ensure long-lasting power during your outdoor adventures or as a reliable backup power supply at home.
Thank you very informative. I work from home. I need one for my laptop and my sewing machine and now and again a power tool such as a drill or sander. You have helped me to work out what size I need. Not only for work but for camping holidays!!!
I also got the same Ecoflow model in Dec 2022. I love it! It powers my desktop computer, a laptop with a second screen, and a lamp for 2.5-3h. When the load shedding comes, all my devices stay on uninterrupted.
to cut through any fluff, If you in SA please consider the ACDC 500w (505wh) unit. SOLID SOLID SOLID! 10% (DOD) to 100% in roughly 5 hours is the charging time, which is fine in the WC as we have charging times between load shedding outages. 500 life cycles and battery can be replaced. I run WIFI router/ONT device (25w) 32" TV / Light (45w) and charge phones + laptop here and there reaching 100W and very consistently get just below 5 hours usage before I charge again. Then if I game on my Gaming Desktop PC, I get 2 hours on 180-250w. very good! all in all happy with that purchase.
The Anker portable power stations also look nice. What's your opinion? They have LiFeP04 LFP batteries. I'm unsure whether you can use it like an online UPS though (like EcoFlow as opposed to Gizzu)? The Solar Recharge feature supports "pass-through charging".
Hey TK. On my side it tested loud enough, but I will try and up the volume in the future. The sound can get a bit distorted if it becomes too loud, hence why I try and find a good balance, but I appreciate the feedback :)
Nothing wrong with the audio. Don’t change anything because one dude complains. He is clearly deaf or has a shitty phone or tablet or all of the above.
Anker makes some of the best chinese powerstations. Zendure Superbase V has 64 thousand watt hour capacity and supports 7600 watt continuous output. One million Rand.
Isnt the River Pro 720wh a bad one to recommend since it only has a 800 charge life cycle? So likely 2-3 years max. Compared the other other options which are generally 2000-3500 cycles.
Hey Jesse. Here is the updated link for the R 500 discount: za.ecoflow.com/discount/moneymarx. You can also add "MoneyMarx" as the Voucher Code on check out to receive the R 500 off. I will be publishing a full review on the Ecoflow River Pro on Friday, and they have some really nice specials running currently, so definitely a good time to consider buying one. :)

I started using an eco flow river pro for about a month when stage 6 kicked in and mainly used it to power my tv setup, but now lately its gone from lasting 3-4 hrs to barely 2 hrs, any advice ?
I'd suggest recalibrating the SOC. Make sure that UPS mode isn't enabled (Either set the charge limit to 100% with the app or hold the Light and DC buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.) Then fully discharge the unit to 0% and recharge to 100%. This works in most cases. if not, then your battery may be busted.
I got the EcoFlow River Pro 720wh model, too, also for working from home, and it worked great for 5 months, until it suddenly went off randomly one day and gave a 50hz overload error, and wouldn't charge anymore. I was hoping to see a better alternative in this video. Perhaps I should just go for a non-movable pure sine wave inverter.
Eco flow is nice but the magneto is far far more affordable. Yes takes longer to charge but nearly half the the price. I would get the eco but just to expensive.
Bluetti holding out on us though man (product range). And the customer care doesn't seem great. Eco Flow is up to date but I suspect they're giving us the bottom end of their quality given the complaints online that I don't find internationally. Are we some kind of dumping ground or will they end up taking us seriously? Find out next time of Load Shedding Z
Comment: Wow, this portable power station seems like a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts like us! With its massive capacity, powerful output, and fast recharging, it's perfect for keeping our devices and appliances running during camping trips. Plus, the waterproof technology gives me peace of mind in any weather. Thanks for sharing this recommendation!

Do you know if Ecoflow can be used as a UPS?

Can you plug 🔌 TV and Refrigerator together on the power station during loadshedding?
By far the best video I have seen regarding portable power stations, well done!!!
Doesn't really feel like a legitimate independent review when you offer a discount cost for one of the items you reviewed...

Thanks Shaun, that is an important point to add yes.

Thanks Delia :) I had great fun making this video
I'm thinking of getting an Anker 757 tomorrow. These days power stations are a must
How is it going?
Please let me know if the Magneto pps is a good option for a small flat( lounge, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom). For an elderly person.

That's awesome to hear Jeff! :)
Any thoughts on the Magento 600W or Flexopower 555W power stations, both have much higher Wh than the Ecoflow?

Very informative. Excellent
I've got one of the recently released Romoss Thunder power stations. Very happy so far. Great video!
Thanks Pieter. I will look into this brand as well, they seem to be competitively priced!
Great video! Luv the humor 😂, really learnt lots!

Very good video bro. Well informing Thanx❤👍
Thanks a lot, bought one and will get another one for office
Thanks for the reviews and recommendations
Great video 👌🏾 Would the Ecoflow River 2 256WH work for stage 4 loadshedding to keep a tv, Wi-Fi and ps5 on ?
yea brah asking myself the same question
My PS5 with Dell 32" monitor uses about 270 Wh. Ecoflow River Pro 700W should do the trick for a 2hr LS outage

If you want to have enough gaming power Delta 2
Lithium Iron Phosphate is also >> Lithium Ion so something also to look out for.

Thank you for the heads up
I'm interested in the ecoflow but what does it price

Good job... Im leaving a comment for the algorithm gods...
Bro could you move the mic closer
The sound is clear and clean just a bit low, I have to put my volume on max in order to hear you

Legend! 💪
Hi, how many cycles, does ecoflow last for. My current inverter lasted for 6 months and I spent just over R10k and I'm quite unhappy
What about Geewiz Portable UPS Power Station - 2000Wh LIFEPO4 ?
Geewiz them self , is it reputable?
Hi, my Magneto 300w is not charging. The light go on but it does not charge, it stays on 0% and shows 0 input 0 output, can anyone help?
Thank you for this informative video💯
Glad it was helpful!
I had the ecoflow for 10 months, battery is now only working at 25% effeciancy, disappointed so I sent it back for repairs
Just watched this video. Because we need one. Great video bru. Tell me does the coupon still work?

Lekker HairCut my guy
💪
This info needs to be updated.
Lekker. Baie geluk met die 10k intekenare Pieter.
Newsmy LMFP battery is way better than the Ecoflow LFP battery.
