Wow - huge range of Buchla / ''West Coast'' sounds in this! And thanks for opening up the programming - very good information here. But, yes - the Neo needs more mod sources (inc random), destinations and cross modding.
I'm very happy for you reaching your goal to create factory patches, and on a very nice Korg synth no less. I don't believe it'll be the last time you're invited to do this sort of thing. You have a keen ear for sound design which is wholly evident in your patches that I've used frequently. They are wonderfully musical and useful!
What I like about Korgs is they somehow always sound complex but clean even when the idea is to have a dirty sound like a guitar through distortion pedal. I don't know how they do it but the sounds of their devices are very usable, they tend to fit well into a mix.
Very good video. I have the big Kinkorg. But its a shame that Korg doesnt give us an update for their editor, library software. Not usable on newer Macs
I mentioned the issue of the editor to Korg. I hope they do something similar to the editors for other synths in this series because for deep editing, it'd be beneficial.
Thanks, genuinely pleased Korg released this. Such a great VA synth engine but was in that ugly 61 key & terrible keybed. IPutting it in much more appealing package was smart move. It gotten labeled as a beginner synth but as you explain that undersell this complex synth. Great you’ve had input into it- well done mate.
a comprehensive video, that shows almost everything- but, the Neo has way stronger competition than its original 15 years ago. The Hydrasynth Explorer aas doing much more and got poly aftertouch for almost the half price! We should also talk about the bad reverb, no rev + delay. Korg has done a mistake for sure with this “old synth in new clothes reissue”
Korg's reverbs are very usable actually. I think they idea of this synth is quite different from what Hydrasynth does. It's not for synth-focused music and tries to provide a lot of easily accessible and usable sounds that go well with all sorts of other instruments - a guitar, some sampled or real percussion, vocals etc. Sort of the same thing romplers try to provide.
Why didn't they add the ability to modulate sample start for PCM oscs? It is easy technically and would use that control knob and would allow to add even more variety. They could just move between zero points on the sample to avoid clicks... Or not do that so that clicks would be a part of sound.
well, that was informative. i recently thought about buying a new micokorg 2, because i liked the sound of the old one alot. but now, i think the kingkorg neo maybe even a bit better, with more capabilities and a bit easier accesable interface. kind of want to know what your thoughts are on the new or old microkorg, in comparison to the neo. cheers
It's part of the Legacy collection - quite a few gems in there and Korg have been quietly updating them bit by bit over the last few years. Lots of classic 90s synths in there which are good fun.
Good synth but obviously not the same as OG one. I was waiting for proper review (like yours) to be confirmed in that. Good synth, rich and powerful but not the same.
It really would take an endorsement from you to consider this synth. And it's mainly because they didn't really market it correctly. Or much at all, really
impressive only if your new to synths which is why manufacturers can constantly re work old ideas put them in a new box and - hey presto a new toy . Hardware Synths these days are targeted at the uninitiated promising innovation and a world of wonder but actually give you less then even previous models or cheaper software -
It honeslty looks so good
You should have seen the prototype I did the sound design work on. Talk about a glow up.

His microfreak patches are incredible!
Thank you! And I might might have had another opportunity recently that I look forward to talking about when I'm allowed to!
@@OscillatorSinkgreat news 👌❤️
Lovely that you got to work with Korg on this. Thanks for the walk-thru.
Thank you checking it out.
Congrats on the factory patches! Extremely well deserved.

Great video! This really helps with navigating the intricacies of programming patches. Thanks!
Nice machine! As usual, it will have it's detractors, but I think it's a great performance synth!

the kingkorg has a ton of potential if you dig in

I know that not everyone likes the "Wavestate format" synths, but I'm a big fan of the form factor - it's just right for me.

I think LFO1 is pre-routed to filter cut off, so could have saved a virtual patch slot at 59:00
Yep, I was in a vpatch state of mind!
That outtro patch !

No librarian tool, how to import/export patches?
2:38 I didn't even realize the Prophecy had a VST reissue. Korg marketing, yeah...

I picked up the original Prophecy (again) recently and its still a blast!
@@joso7228 Hope you enjoy it, again :)
This a different KingKorg I almost compared it with the old one but with extra's, but that isn't the case at all right
?
So deepmind or rhis one for sound design?

Or the new multi/poly actually.

I have the OG King Korg and I love it, its kind of what the Arturia Origin should have been. Pick some oscillators, pick some filters and go to town.

Ouch, that reverb section is painful. And I like how you said "the delays... Are there"

He says. As their pillow talk went all deep ..wet patch the lot
Get yourself a vst equivalent. Your studio will love you feeing up space
“All of the sounds you have heard in this video were made by me”…
What sounds!? You’ve been talking all this time!
All of the sound in the background, which you can also see me playing. I'm happy to do just a straight patch demo if people think that'd be useful.
@fugamantew
It's been great following all your sound design videos on here... oh wait, there are none, you're a loudmouth with nothing to say.
