      I got a job right out of college but I turned it down because it wasn’t the right fit for me. I kept searching for another 10 months until I found a job I liked.

    Hi Alina,
    I had my first contact with Java 2 years before my first job as an intern at a big company, but I just started studying Java (for real) 2 or 3 months before getting the first job. I was receiving R$2000 which is approximately $400 or $500 here in Brazil, but it's considered a very good salary for an intern here. I had a Java senior developer as a mentor which helped me A LOT because it was my first experience as a developer. Yeah, I consider myself very lucky for that, a good company, a great mentor and a good salary.
    Thanks for telling us your experience, I love your videos!

    thx for sharing your experience. I encourage my GF to self-educate herself and learn valuable skills/traits like initiative and abstract problem-solving. As a former employer, I see the preinterview and application process as a part of the interview. A developer is a problem solver at the core; one of the biggest tests for a developer is problem-solving how to get a job when it seems like you can't get one.

    Do you think learning python is a good idea? And how difficult is it to get an entry job with that language in Denmark?

    • @girllovescoding
      @girllovescoding  2 роки тому +2

      From my experience, there is a good demand for Python developers. It also depends on what you plan to work with in the future. If you like it then go for it 🙂
      It is not impossible to get a job in Denmark as a junior developer but it is easier if you have experience. Also depends on your skills.

      C++ is always a good pick. It introduces you to Linux, object oriented programming, build systems and much more. Concepts and skills from C++ are also transferable to other languages.

    • @girllovescoding
      @girllovescoding  2 роки тому

      It depends a lot on the company and position. From what I know, the salaries for the most part, are in the range of 55-70k DKK per month for a senior software dev.

    • @Gikkeoi

      I’m trying to get past JavaScript into Ajax, React js, and also getting into Python but every time I learned something there is more additional stuff to learn. This keeps discouraging me and making me struggle to understand these concepts

    Very interesting story. I learned HTML, PHP, Javascript and css this way:
    I ran a forum (Simple Machines), then had to modify it to my taste.
    I got hooked on coding, and was eventually offered a position at Simple Machines, as a team member (it's all open source). I was around 30 years old.
    A few years later, I got a job as a developer, at a company that makes electric panels (I'm an electrician by trade), which was basically a huge project in an Excel sheet. I quickly realized, that a lot could be coded in Visual Basic for Applications, so I taught myself again, on how to program in that language.
    Granted, as an electrician trainee, I also learned how to code on something called a PLC (Programming Latency Controller), back in the late 80s. But it's a very basic form of coding.
