  • Imagine that you have never ever done a blindfold simul in your life. How many opponents would you choose to play against? Most players would choose 3-4 opponents. But not Arjun Erigaisi. The 19-year-old talent from India played against 8 opponents at the QuantBox Office. It was a thrilling simul where Arjun was put under great pressure by his opponents. He couldn't recollect the positions often, he faltered, he learnt on the go and got better. Check out the video to find out what was the score at the end!
QuantBox is Arjun's sole sponsor. They have sponsored him to the tune of Rs.12.4 crore (US$1.5 million) for 5 years! This was the first time that Arjun visited the QuantBox office in Bangalore.

@@rakid123 In blindfold chess you typically want to make the openings as different as possible. Starting with the same move, lowers the possibility of that.

I think he should've first prepared for blindfold with 3-4 boards so that his mind could've get used to this pattern and wouldn't get confused about boards. I understand he is a GM but still doing blindfold for the first time and that too with 8 boards is kind of too much 😓

    • @abhisen6745

Its not about number of boards. The first blind simul step is to play distinctly on all boards so as to remember each boards separately. Arjun mistake is he played d4 in all boards so no clear distinction. For eg. Magnus once played 3 blind boards and played c4,d4,e4 respectively.

World should know that in Telugu language there is something called Avadhanam, minimum is like ashtavadhanam where 8 members will be posing questions from different topics and the person must remember each one of them and in those questions one is to keep a table structure in memory and one of the person keep tellig one letter each time in middle of the discussion and one will be trying to distract the person with random questions , and in this chaos the performer should have mapping for all the peoples and their questions and the status of each question in brain. There is more advanced level of these contests like Shathavadhanam in which 100 people will be asking random questions on differnt topics and also ask you a problem in language for which you have to answer with a well formed poem. and there is also a sahasravadhanam where 1000 people will be asking questions. Every person who achieves success in these are genius. I remembered that when watching this video.

It's not about the noise I think Arjun could handle that but it's about D4 it's completely insane to play it on all boards if you played blindfolded before you would know!

@@aminesosa8676 Arjun can handle or not is secondary...there must be proper decoram in a chess game....this kind of organising is pathetic..they are shouting in a chess game.. organizers themselves are making chaos.
