Dodge evolved the 1940 VC‑1 to VC‑6 into the equally half-ton rated WC series of military light trucks, produced in 38 model variants, of which 30 were four-wheel driven, in varying amounts - thousands of some models were produced, while only a few of some others were made. Where the military VC‑series still used much civilian sheet-metal, distinguished by a brush-guard in front of the grille - the WC‑series came with wide-open, almost flat fenders that prevented mud build-up, clogging rotation of the wheels - as well as a redesigned, sloping nose with an integrated, round, grated grille / brush-guard. A new ambulance with a fully enclosed, all-steel box rear body was designed, on a longer, 123 inch wheelbase; and PTO-driven winches were now fitted to some models.
Here we are driving WWII and Vietnam era trucks during an extended weekend in Alaska. Many of the WWII era trucks in this video helped create the Alaska - Canadian highway, or "AlCan Highway."

Cheers from Alaska! Thanks for watching
Love all old one👍👍
Looks like it was assembled from 2 command car bodies mounted on a WC 62 chassis. Movie prop?
You're pretty close, not a movie prop, just unchecked passion. Don did an excellent job though and the truck has a Ford 292 V8, I think. Thanks for watching!
Nice truck with a unique body! where are the combat rims?
The Germans had something similar. A guy in Salt Lake City Utah had one rusting in his outdoors collection. He passed away and it all disappeared. The family sold everything.
First time seeing this, where is this gold mine? Is anything for sale? What about 4 door Wagoneer for good price? Had a SJ Cherokee and still miss "Snowfoot", nothing better in snow without tracks, better than some with.
Why did a command car need three axles? Were the intended to be tractors?
The 3 axle versions were used for artillery to haul gun and crew or heavy support (fdc/comms/ medical etc) that needed trailer capabilities with crew
Ce dodge est d’origine ou ce un remontages
Should have made a half track
Half track is too slow, too heavy and too maintenance intensive vs wheeled
