@@goodtroublemaker143 its like picking a Georgia O Keefe tulip and at the end is an Oscar Meyer Hot Dog. In my garden? I dont think so.

Dan I've got a bunch of grow bags we are using this year brother I was worried about watering them. Went to home Depot and Lowes and picked up a bunch of those Square medium concrete mixing tubs to set the grow bags in. Alot deeper than regular plant saucers and half the price👍. Will definitely have to look into Taro root my wife loves it and we have a place in the yard that stays damp so this sounds like the perfect plant for a not so perfect spot in the yard.

We call this cocoyam ❤you can cook it exactly like you would a sweet potato or a potato 🥔 peal and eat with stew or vegetable. We use it in many ways and each culture has its unique ways of using it plus there are so many species of it too. Must be cooked very well or else it itches the throat

I'm so glad that the algorithm lead me to you! I'm so looking forward to growing my own garden. Please would you tell me what lavender bush, tree or plant that is behind you in this video, I really want that in my yard?

I'm in zone 7b and I grow taro every year. They don't produce like crazy but I usually get more than I put in and I always miss a few that grow the following year. Taro like a lot of water and in some places they grow in a paddy like rice, so more water is ok but not necessary at all. I tell my kids that they are "tropical potatoes" lol.

You have to cook the leaves extra long time or they can be itchy in throat. Be careful for those who are not familiar with these leaves. Like you said they can be toxic when not cooked. I don't recommend just stir frying unless you cook them extra longer time at LEAST 1 hour. Better be safe than sorry.

experts recommend first washing leaves in salted water, then cooking in hot water for 15 mins (necessary to draw the toxins out), and cook in fresh hot water for 15-30 mins - also combine leaves with other foods (soups, etc) is recommended - a number of recipes re google
