Today I'm reviewing the 2019 Continental GT to show you why the new Bentley Continental GT is a big improvement over its predecessor -- and I'm going to show off some of the Continental GT's luxury quirks and features.

Doug has reviewed like 3 or 4 Bentleys and he is still impressed by the trunk button for the fourth time...
It's not necessarily that he's impressed by it (although he still may be), but the fact that he will get new viewers on this, and every video on his channel must be easy to watch for new viewers. If he starts to reference old videos and say 'Oh, I've done this before, so I don't need to show it', it wouldn't fare well for his channel.
Not everybody watching this will be Doug's subscribers. Some may be looking specifically this car.

Doug, the passenger seat allignment to the driver seat is supposed to be for *symmetry*, something that is probably looked at in luxury cars at these prices.

i like to rest my right hand/arm on the passenger seat and its most comfortable when i have it adjusted the same as my seat.
It will be especially important in the convertible. In my E89 I alwaus wanted this feature as parked with the top down my driver's seat was way higher than my passenger seat (I'm not tall!) and it looked shit
I was thinking that since its a touring car, perhaps it is meant for people who tour together so they can swap seats to switch driver and easily adjust the seats to fit each person's size perfectly.. I mean, that would be smart thinking in my mind, having done a lot of touring myself through Europe with multiple drivers.

Yeah, I agree! Only dislike the "12" at the sides. This is very cheap for a Bentley. This 6, 8, 12 thing was popular amongst like BMW owners to separate those who have more money than others. In a Bentley is completely useless and looks cheap. What it could have? Six cylinders? Or just because everyone is V8 today it should state the V12? It just doesn't fit in a so luxurious car to stick a "12" on the sides. IMO. Aside from that, the car is gorgeous. Inside and out.

Different motor and power, different weight, different transmission or suspension, it's just the same rough dimensions and bottom plate and sheet metals or something like that. I don't really think his statement was wrong.

The real cost on high end cars is depreciation. Luxury cars drop likely a rock in value. The Ford will likely stay at a pretty good value even with him driving it. Bentleys lose like 75% in 5 years.

The "Align Passenger Seat with Driver's Seat" button exists to cater to Bentley's OCD-Billionaire customers, they're very particular, like Howard Hughes for example.

I like the seats in my cars to be perfectly aligned, too. I think that's an AWESOME feature! I hate it when people get in and lay or slide the seat way back. I always readjust it to match the driver's seat when I drop them off. Not to mention, when the seat isn't aligned with the driver seat, it can block side views. It's not just an OCD thing. It's a safety thing, too.
Or maybe it's because when you have something in the back seat, it's nice for the front seats to be in the same spot. Also Billionaires aren't the only ones with OCD.

My favorite feature is how they took a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser taillight (flipped it sideways) and incorporated it into their super luxurious design.
Looks similar, but side by side there’s no question which is Bentley handmade and which is Chrysler mass produced.

I had the passenger seat matching function in my 2009 audi A5, it really comes in handy when you have someone leave the seat in a weird position, so you don’t have to bend over to fix it. There was also a “convenience side view position” button in the same menu which set a position to provide maximum visibility.
Unfortunately I still have to reach over and "fix" the seat when my wife leaves it in a weird position, maybe it should be called the "picky" button for people like me 🙂Hopefully I will be able to buy a Continental in the near future, albeit it will be the older version, don't think I will live long enough to wait till these come down in price like the 2005-2009 models.

I’ve never wanted a Bentley in my life until I saw this car. A photographer I follow accidentally leaked his login info for the press release photos and I fell in love so fast. The attention to detail is incredible even down to the UI within the infotainment system is insane.
I can’t wait to get this thing in 2025 where it will be 50,000 dollars. Finally I will be able to afford an expensive car

Anything that isn't a limited run or influential car. This isn't any of those. Even look at the 2005 bentley continental gt. $50k now. Certainly didn't go up. I look forward to getting one of these 75% off in 10-15 years.

Another way to tell a 12 cylinder from an 8 cylinder is the from emblem and the back emblem(also the trunk release) is the color. If the "B" is red, the car has a V8. If the "B" is black(as it is on this one), it has a W12.
Lmao the first generation Honda Fit had the exact same thing. The dot above the “i” was red for 1.4 and blue for 1.5

Bentley is my dream car. I currently have 2004. VW Golf TDI, it's close.
Hey a fun fact tho; VW Phaeton used the Bentley chasis and alot of parts from it, like cockpit was literally from Flying spur(and flying spur is nothing else but a 4 door Continental GT).
So in reality since all parts are shared in group there is a possibility that at least 1 mechanical part in your car is from Bentley... maybe.

I actually thought it was a subtle crazy 'equality thing'; whereby say if a man and his wife/gf were seated that button could 'make them have equal precedence'. Some will say snobbish and crazy but hey, it's a small hidden feature I think is a nice atd touch - and it's not as if Bentley's $200000000000000000000000 asking price isn't making a statement with a long pointy Tom Ford umbrella anyway xD

Passenger seat aligning with the driver’s is due to sometimes its nice to rest your arm on the back of the passenger seat on long drives to stretch a bit!!
It's actually so you can see out the side window. Same line of site.
^I was gonna say this. I get into a LOT of cars and have to drive many of them, and I would've thought, Doug would understand as someone who's also well over 6 feet, if there was a short passenger or the seat was moved up, I am usually missing about half my view out of the side window. it's SO annoying to reach around the seat, or under, or to the door card and contort yourself (and for quite a long time if they're power operated) just so I can see. Mercedes introducing the R or L seat buttons on the driver's side of it's most recent cars was an aha moment like I've never experienced.
it's a little thing, sure. but when you're spending the money for one of these cars and one day in a few years when you notice it, you'll smile a little bc you know they thought of just absolutely everything and it makes the experience of the car that little bit better. there's a reason a Bentley is a Bentley. right now that subtle difference is aligning seat positions, but in the past and I'm sure in the future, it might be something nobody had ever thought of, but could totally change the car industry.

All British cars depreciate fast and by a lot, because they are low quality and not reliable. Unfortunately that also means you won’t be able to afford it even if it’s 50k, because there will be so many issues and problems it’ll take 20k a year to keep it on the road.
