It's definitely a cool concept but it's really not recommended to get a coaster right off the bat because it can make learning basic stuff very hard. I probably never would have learned 360s and other spin tricks if I had a coaster as soon as I started riding. So yeah, if you really want a coaster, you can spend the money on a Z Coaster, buy a reliable coaster laced to another rim so that you still have your cassette wheel ready and available if you need it (That's what I did.), or you can just take your chain off whenever you have the desire to go backwards. Those are good ways to get the coasting experience without fully committing to it. -Will

So I just bought a we the people reason which came with a free coaster hub. In my 38 years of existence I have never rode one before and didn't even know they were a thing until I started getting back into bmx. Needless to say they take some getting used to. I have a habit of back pedaling slightly more then I ever knew I did. Must of back peddled and then went to pedal hard forward and my moment took me over the bars onto my elbow. It was a learning experience lol and havent done it since.
First time on a freecoaster on my new bike... face planted on the asphalt because of the slack... :D But after realizing I have to be cautious at first now I am getting pretty comfortable with the coaster and actually really like it
i just bought BSD's westcoaster because the guy from returns department in Source told me that many Ody's clutch coasters break because of those weak plastic parts while not a single Westcoaster was returned... except for one that was never greased since the owner was a "complete dog shit". Just some info that some people might find useful/ interesting. And please note that westcoaster costs 40€ less so he wasn't just playing the marketing cards to sell something more expensive. Cheers
Our opinions on LZ have changed a lot since this video was uploaded. I'm not much of a fan anymore because of the vlogging and car videos and whatnot but 2013 LZ was pretty cool. I liked him when I was first getting into riding; when he lived in Connecticut. -Will
Well in the video a primo drive side guard was used, but they are god awful and rub on your chain and stuff, you can use the gsport uniguard and demolition possibly makes one. - Keith, boss, chief, slim, special k, coasting keith, the k man.
The only pawl based freecoaster that I have heard people had problems with is the éclat one other than that I have'nt heard much, but thanks a lot for the feed back!

Figured I may as well leave this here: the bsd Westcoaster is great but doesn't kickflip very well at all due to the rubber bushing inside the hub
