- We continue our journey through southern Sweden with our next stop - Malmö
Although Malmö seems like a pleasant enough city we did not have the best luck with weather (again!) and in retrospect we could easily have skipped it. City destinations have additional challenges (such as safe parking!) and after being on the road for almost a year we're definitely favoring the more rural stops. Still, Malmö has plenty of charm and we were surprised at the lovely beaches so close to the city!

The Turning Torso building is very impressive. One thing I have noticed whilst following you on your travels, is how far behind the UK is to the rest of Western Europe with regards to proper cycle lanes. It's great you can just hop on the bike and easily reach a lot of interesting places whilst riding safely away from traffic.
We've found that when it comes to cycle friendliness, some countries are excellent and others are terrible and there's very little in between! 😂

Thanks Davida! Malmo was interesting and since we left there Sweden just kept getting better and better 🇸🇪 But alas, we discovered they (unfortunately) have a whole range of delicious pastries we 'have' to try 😋😁
Those pecan maple pastries are my absolute favourite, I just can't say no to them! 🙈

The fat guy on the horse is Charles the 10 or fat Charles as we call him. He took Skåne, Blekinge and Halland from Denmark, with the peace in 1658. Yes the townhall is fantastic but behind it is St Petri church that dates back to 1200 century. Your " laundrymat" is actually the place where the earliest citizens of Malmö took their water. The fontain tells a story of all the historic happenings here.

Well I liked it (but I wasn't coping with the weather).
I'm also a little concerned about any place that has the word "petri" in its name 😖😉
It's probably a nice enough place to live in. 🤔 Just not what we felt like at the time. It was also getting into peak summer touristy season and we 'felt' the buzz in the south of Sweden. That said, we liked Falsterbo, just a bit further south..
Was the ferry much cheaper than the bridge from Copenhagen? Also, did you pre pay for the bridge onto Copenhagen island of Denmark? Thanks 🤩
The ferry from Elsingor To Helsingborg is/was about the same as the standard price for a motorhome on the Øresund Bridge. But we wanted to see more of Zeeland and it made sense to cross with the ferry. As we came from Mon Island (via Fehmarn), we did not cross from Odense to Zeeland.

All we found south of Malmö was good wind and a friendly fellow traveller! Who still owes us a beer... 😜
Seems we managed to miss most of the dodgy spots in the South of Sweden 😂😎
