Dune part 2 is the best movie of the year, and the only long-term cultural milestone film of this year. All other films will eventually be forgotten or lost in the shuffle.
The first two thirds of Dune 2 were excellent but then they overstuffed and rushed the last third, just too much thrown together..ending felt messy and cluttered. such a pity. should of been two movies or maybe edited the first half. still a very good film but could have just been a bit better..failed its landing...technically its beautifully crafted and the stunts phenomenal..for those reasons Dune 1 was a better film for me...the pacing made that movie a complete joy to watch over and over

Can't wait to see A Complete Unknown this weekend in Newport! I'm so glad you liked it, Grace! I think though that it's important to spread out the word about the film to people who wouldn't normally be exposed to it and I actually think that's a very good thing for business. Take Wicked for example, so many people I've spoken to have said they won't go see it because of preconceived biases but everyone I've been around who actually saw the film says it was one of the best films they've seen in a long time. Only keeping audiences segregated in 'high school clique' subgroups is death to the film industry.
After rewatching Interstellar, I loved the female characters Murph and Dr. Brandt. Did you like those female portrayals Grace? Gonna work on my list soon 🎉

I think Deadpool and Wolverine should be in bottom five. I get people love it. In my opinion it is an average movie that people mistake for amazing because Hollywood makes such shitty movies now, so when an average one comes out people think it’s then best thing ever.
the sad truth is Conclave didn't need the secret twist ending to be a great movie. it was just a slap in the face to Catholics at the end. and grace, and other non-religious people, saying that being offended by something that was clearly there specifically to offend is ridiculous. organized religion isn't failing because it isn't progressive enough. it is failing because it isn't upholding the strong virtues and rules it proclaims. religion won't make a comeback by making it more like "modern" times. society yearns for rules and structure and answers that the church can provide. modern society is void of these and that's why things feel rudderless. so no, being offended by the end of conclave is exactly what the filmmakers wanted, and it's sad they couldn't just have had a "papal thriller" without the asinine twist. (and yes i know it's based on a book)

I've seen 40 movies at the theater this year (including returns of 2023 movies) but only 6/10 of her choices, including those three. _Deadpool & Wolverine_ is the only one of the three I imagine I'll watch again.
Wicked is still my top movie, even after seeing it 2 times and listening to the songs an insane amount of times lol. And this movie wasn’t even on my radar at all.

This is a stellar list. I agree with everything here. Dune Part 2 is still my favorite of the year, so far. But DAW was great, too. Wicked was great. Hope you do a worst list.

I seen 3/10 on your list. Dune, Wicked and Deadpool :D
I've seen 40 movies at the theater this year (including returns of 2023 movies) but only 6/10 of her choices, including those three. _Deadpool & Wolverine_ is the only one of the three I imagine I'll watch again.
Wicked is still my top movie, even after seeing it 2 times and listening to the songs an insane amount of times lol. And this movie wasn’t even on my radar at all.

I meet so many people who hate Longlegs. I thought it was great. That one and Late Night with the Devil were the best horror movies this year in my opinion.

Grace, did you know that in Malta, it's customary for theaters to include an intermission during all movies? I remember watching Us in Malta and being quite surprised when the screen suddenly went dark midway through the film.
