Fun fact! At 3:26 the guy playing the arcade machine is voiced by the original Mario voice actor in all games!
As well as Mario's father.
Yeah, and i hear his voice of Wario in deep.
Fun fact, he played the original donkey kong
@@DaveMan1KSuper poetic!🤌🏻
It’s Charles martinet who voices Mario, he’s the one who voices him in the video games that’s why they had to make a cameo in the film
Mario: "Destiny is calling!"
Cody: "Go get your Destiny dude."
*PERFECT*
Mario & Sonic has the best video game movies
Definitely 💯
Finally, a worthy opponent!
I heard the Sonic sequel is better
@@nisarojas2869 u have been cheated and lied too!
@@nisarojas2869 that is somewhat true
Chris Pratt voicing Mario is actually the most iconic thing ever. I loved the Mario games as a little kid. Great reaction, bro.
Everyone treating it like they did Heath Ledger before the Dark Knight came out.
Not me. I loved the pick.
I thought that was Charles Martinet doing the commercial, but no.
He genuinely surprised many fans.
Never understood the negative hype surrounding Chris Pratt as Mario back in early 2022. Now that it’s out, I saw nothing wrong with it. Charles Martinet will always be Mario, but Pratt made it work.
Such a good movie! Still to this day I sometimes feel the need to sing “Peaches, peaches, peaches peaches peaches IIIIIII LOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUU!!!!!!”
He's a sadist but at least hes dedicated to that bit.
@@chloenieuwsma4846 He's an adorkable sadist :)
That song sure went hard. Props to Jack Black for making Bowser go into Tenacious D Mode!
Knowing that Nintendo wants to keep up with the video game movies after the success of the SMB Movie makes me really happy because there’s a lot they can do, from Kirby to The Legend of Zelda, to name a few.
Considering how Breath of the Wild (or more accurately Age of Calamity) showed that a Zelda cinematic experience could work, and how well this movie was made, there is now not a doubt in my mind that we can finally get a Zelda film. So long as they take it seriously, of course.
And there’s the pizza/cafe place that Mario & Luigi was at called “Punch-Out”, it might’ve not been more than a passing reference, but there could be a brief scene of a young lil Mac doing deliveries or working at the cafe as a primary form of income while he goes out discreetly training to box for his true passion. Maybe a scene or two of him interacting with Mario who was able to achieve his dream in a way.
Also technically those tunnels could work as like portals to prolly not just the surrounding galaxies of earth & the mushroom kingdom, but maybe also to other universes like Zelda, Megaman, Animal Crossing & etc.
Peach said there’s galaxies out there, she specifically didn’t mention “in the universe” as in one universe, it’s vague but it can be inferred to multiple universes. Basically the tunnels & therefore the mushroom kingdom would prolly act as a hub of connecting to all these other universes
What about competitors like Sony? Sly Cooper Movie Revival? A Crash Bandicoot Movie or Animated Series?
@@fynnthefox9078 well technically Sony has the mascot of their former console rival, Sega. They MIGHT fenagle a sort of crossover movie between the two companies…
I was choking up the whole movie in the theater, it was such a journey back into my childhood, loved this movie!
I was just grinning like an idiot the entire time, and not caring who saw me :P
@@k1productions87 I was trying to not look like I was getting emotional lol
@@PokidotGamer898 Oh, I totally was. Just my emotions came out as laughter and shouting and cheering :D

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for watching my Reaction to Super Mario Bros Movie! and yes I got sunburned lol
Let’s a go!
Did you move?
Just be thankful you don't look like a rotisserie chicken when you get sunburnt (speaking from experience 🥲😅)
Also was it just me…or did your microphone sound a bit jittery in the beginning?
Usually I do lol that’s why I’m surprised I’m not
Random facts about the film!
- The plumbing commercial rap was actually the intro to one of the early Mario cartoons. Its actually a full cover instead of just using archived audio!
- Spike is actually an old Mario character. Wrecking Crew featured the Bros. as the player characters, with Spike acting as an NPC trying to make their job harder.
- Charles Martinet, the VA for Mario in the games, voices Mario's dad and Guiseppe, the guy who looks like Mario in the pizzeria.
- Yes, the species of Yoshi is indeed just called Yoshi's. Pokemon logic?
- Cranky Kong being DK's dad is something pretty inconsistent. Originally he was just his *grand*dad, but it swapped to being his father on occasion.
- The background characters in the Kong Arena are almost all references. Diddy, Dixie and Chunky are all sitting together.
- We have no idea what Bowser's age is. I always assumed he was like, 25 in human years or something. Peach, Mario and Luigi are all like in their mid-twenties, last I checked.
To answer some questions you have:
Believe it or not, Bowser is actually the same age as Mario, if slightly older.
The minions that you and Bowser couldn’t identify are called spinies.
And yes, those are yoshis you saw earlier. Their species is called yoshi, and the main green one is Yoshi. Just like the main Toad from his species called toads.
To add to your comment, Spinies which have been since the 1985 game. Usually thrown by that prick Lakitu. Canonically Yoshi Yoshisaur Munchikoopa is his full name.
When Bowser started singing the peaches song i started laughing so hard 🤣
Me too
Pretty much everyone laughed hysterically at that because it was so random.😄
Me three 😂😂😂
My experience with The SMB Movie made me feel proud to be a fan of the Mario games! This film was SO much fun, from the voice talents (Jack Black being the goat of the film as Bowser), the music (props to Brian Tyler), to the video game references. 5/5 Super ⭐️’s imo!
I once thought "I had a smile on my face the entire time" was just a cliche,... but when I saw this in theaters, I was literally grinning like an idiot for the entire runtime. It was an AMAZING feeling. And one that I fear far too many people have simply forgotten how to have. So many focus so hard on being eternally skeptical that they forgot how to simply feel joy anymore. This may dethrone The Goonies as my "special happy place" movie
I'm proud as well!! It's just as good as Sonic The Hedgehog!!
Totally agree spacial this is by far the best video game movie of all time I mean sonic the hedgehogs 1 and 2 were also great too
This is a cinematic masterpiece.
For a video game movie, it *truly* is.🥲
As Luigi said, "That is cinema."
Fun fact: Charles Martinet, Mario’s video game voice actor played Mario’s Dad and the guy who loved their commercial! - as a longtime fan, this movie was such a loving treat for fans of all kinds! And a worthy introduction for newer viewers!
Originally I was a bit skeptical about Chris Pratt voicing mario but I honestly thought he was alright and the movie in general was great!
I thought he did pretty good. I honestly prefer the Brooklyn accent over the Italian accent.
Me too, i remember that i was honestly pissed that chris pratt was voicing mario. But after seeing more promos and then finally seeing the movie, i regret and deeply apologize for that anger of mine 😅
He may not be charles martinet, but he still did a amazing job as mario 😊
We all were...
After the first time we heard him saying "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come!", none were excited for him to voice Mario.
But I must say, he improved a lot since that (what if it was a tactic to subvert expectations?).
I wasn't. I liked the pick and had faith in him.
I honestly had no doubt he could pull it off the second I realized he was Emmett in The Lego Movie. He has legit (and excellent) voice acting experience.
I saw this movie in IMAX, and it was awesome. Just pure, unadulterated fun. My favorite part was Jack Black's incredible performance and banger song, "Peaches". I also love the amazing animation, awesome references, colorful action, and great music and humor.
Cole Bennett is the reason for it
He made a video with Jack Black on his channel Lyrical Lemonade
I am just sad I missed my chance to see it in 3D, because that would have been A-FRIKKIN-MAZING!!!
That moment where luigi protected mario had got me teary eyed. Mario has always been there for luigi for so long, and that moment showed that luigi wants to be there for him too. This is why luigi has always been my favorite, he may be timid, shy and scared most of the time, but deep down he is truly brave. And the super star scene... holy crap I swear, the moment where mario and luigi got the star and the star theme started to play, that's where i couldn't hold the tears anymore. That moment not only got me emotional, but it also made me feel like a kid again, it was like i was reliving that childhood joy i used to have when playing the old mario games when i was a kid in the 90's. This moment not only made me remember in how amazing, fun and epic the mario franchise truly is, but it also reminds us that the brotherly love between mario and luigi will forever be strong and unbreakable 🥹
I am so looking forward to the sequel, which btw yes! A sequel is confirmed and it's now in development 😁
I love this movie so much and so happy they focused on their brotherly bond at the end
Love how Charles Martinet (actual voice actor of Mario from the games) makes a voice cameo at 3:26.
I heard he also played Mario's father too
When we get a sequel, he needs to have MORE cameos.
I’m actually a Sonic fan but this movie is so hilarious and the Peaches song is so cheesy and I love it. Glad you like it. It was better than I thought
the guy who was teasing mario and luigi was foreman spike, who appeared in wrecking crew on the nes, which had mario in it
The filmmakers actually pushed hard for Superstars at the end with Mario and Luigi fighting Bowser. The execs wanted Jump by Van Halen to play during that scene. So glad the filmmakers fought for Superstars, Jump wouldn't have worked.
Just like the Top Gun: Maverick and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish reactions, so many reactions to the Mario movie are on the rise and I can't wait to see more people react to the movie!
The Blue Shell Guy was a beast and literally went into Terminator Mode. He bought PTSD to everyone who played Mario Kart

So hilarious 😂
I don’t care what they said, Chris Pratt did a good job voicing Mario.
Make that 2. He did a solid job honestly.
So many people forgot he was in The Lego Movie too, and was quite excellent in that one as well.
@@k1productions87 I remember I just wasn't sure the Emmett approach was going to work 😅
@@chloenieuwsma4846 He didn't have to do the "Emmett approach", rather simply prove that he was capable of being a believable voice actor. The point is, he had experience in the field, and wasn't picked just because he was a big name from Marvel films or something.
@@k1productions87Both him and Charlie Day (Luigi) also did voiceover in The LEGO Movie. Pratt was Emmett the Construction 🚧 🏗️ worker. Day was Benny (1980- something Space Guy)
3:26 That guy was actually voiced by Charles Martinet, Mario's long-time voice actor! His cameo put a big smile on my face!😁😁

Saw it three times in theaters. This movie is so priceless and entertaining. Loved how it honors my childhood of playing the games and the entire voice cast did a phenomenal job. ❤️
Blue shell is every Mario fans worst nightmare
At first, I had low expectations for Chris Pratt as Mario but he surprised me! This movie surprised me! Peaches surprised me! I feel in love with everything in this movie! I even made Peaches my ringtone! Lol! And to answer your question about the Yoshi. The green Yoshi is the main Yoshi but there are different colored Yoshi’s. It’s just that the green Yoshi is more iconic and well known.
I don't know why everyone's expectations of Chris Pratt were so low. Its like everyone had completely forgotten he was Emmett in The Lego Movie, and he was quite excellent in that one.

Bowser has always had a thing for Peach in the games so, it’s no surprise this trope still carries on in this movie.
It wasn’t a surprise it just was creepy lol
@@ItsTotallyCody It is creepy though.😄
@@ItsTotallyCody Thank god I wasnt the only one who thought that. Banger song aside he clearly has no clue how romance works. I'm with Peach, he truly is a monster.
Saw this in theaters. I absolutely loved it mostly because of the nostalgic music and little things that only players of the older games would realize like that bastard eel
There was no way I wasn't gonna see this in theaters. I saw it at my nearest IMAX theater with my Dad (who grew up with the OG game) and we both had a really good time with it!! I was definitely skeptical of Chris Pratt during the first few months of the promotional material, but as I kept watching the movie, his Mario grew on me more and more. He really made it his own while still paying respect to the source material, same with most of the others VAs.
Absolutely. I'm not a theater guy, but this is one of those instances where I felt I OWED it to myself.
Fun fact, I saw it in the same theater that I saw the 1993 Mario movie in, exactly three decades earlier.
Everyone who knows me knows I’m a HUGE Sonic fan but I LOVED this. I hope they make a sequel cos we need more of the bros together - they were just so wholesome. Loved all the Easter eggs and Seth Rogan as DK was great! Brilliant reaction Cody! 👍🏻😊
I am also a sonic fan, but i played a bunch of mario games prior to that. I noticed way more references here.
This movie was amazing, I cannot wait for the sequel
Me too
Unfortunately they might not make a sequel because of the reviews
@@PussInBootsTheLastWishFan2003 The Rotten tomato reviews don't determine that, its based on how well it did in the box office (it made over a billion) and most casual viewers liked it, so it's definitely getting another
I'm so happy that Mario have his own new movie. The characters are fantastic, super kart race was awesome and everything is based on the Nintendo game

Fun fact: The Movie's composer Brian Tyler scored 'Drivin' me Bananas' and it was originally meant to be in the movie. But Illumination couldn't help themselves but to put another 80s pop song in it so they replaced his music in a last minute decision.
The original track is *much* better and fits perfectly with the scene.
I loved this movie no matter what, best video game cinematic adaptation!
They had one goal - to wash away the bad taste the previous Mario movie had left 30 years ago - and they ABSOLUTELY succeeded. They have earned all the good will in the world with me to be confident in a future Zelda, StarFox, or even Metroid film. Please, lets make this happen
Agreed, when it comes to feeling like the game, this is the best.
8/10
Everyone is so fixated on rotten tomatoes scores, it really is a solid film.
I am someone who is not swayed by "critics" or rotten tomato scores. I didn't even really have any expectations going into this movie. As someone who grew up playing Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World etc., I was really just going to see this movie based on nostalgia and it does deliver on nostalgia. The visuals are stunning, and while everyone has their reservations about Chris Pratt the voice acting is perfect (except one for one elderly character). While many have said this movie moves quickly or "too fast", I would say it has great pacing and never leaves you bored. While it is not a perfect film it leaves little to be desired. It is everything you want from an animated Super Mario Movie.
I have to agree, even Cranky Kong's voice!
I did not care for it at all!
I saw that review on imdb
This Super Mario Bros movie was just AWESOME! Peach was a total badass of a princess in this movie, not that she hasn't been before in the past. Also no matter how charming Bowser was he was still an evil conquering monster, so it was never gonna work out. Furthermore Donkey Kong was so funny as well😂
What Illumination and Nintendo needs to do is make a new STAR FOX🦊 movie next hopefully!😁
I loved this movie! I saw this movie three time in theaters! Wish we had a Mario movie like this one in 1993!
I loved the Dark lands part. It kind of look like Luigi Mansion.
Something curious:
Jack Black came with the song Peaches by himself. He completly improvised it and the director loved it so much that they decided to add it to the movie.
The DK Rap part was requested by the voice actor. And we are thankful for it. But some fans are frustrated that the original singer of the DK Rap wasn't cited in the credits.
Bowser was probably my favourite character in this movie. Jack Black nailed the role
"Who are you? Do you have a video game named after you?"
Spike himself does not, but his company, Wrecking Crew, does. Wrecking Crew was another NES game where "Mario" and Spike were rivals busting out brick walls.
Peaches is like the greatest song I've ever heard!!!
Jack Black nailed it!!!
The reason why Peach is a princess and not a queen is because in Japanese culture a lady could not be ceded to the throne without authorization from the ruler to replace and since there is no trace of a "Mushroom King", she could not be given that title in a true or legal way.
The other reason is because maintaining the title of princess would help her to make her look weak, which as we saw in the movie is completely the opposite, this with the purpose of deceiving the enemy and attacking by surprise.
I love the callbacks to the old Mario games & a great ending too I really enjoyed this movie.
This is the best movie i seen this year. It's so much fun to watch the theater laughed and enjoyed it and so did my friend and i. I can't wait to get this movie on Blu Ray/DVD
Only animated movie i've seen this year and i love it
When "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" was announced by Shigeru Miyamoto aka the creator of the game Mario in 2021, I immediately hyped up because Nintendo rarely collaborated with animation studios for a long time after the failure of 1993 live action film, but I felt a bit sad for Pratt because he received various backlashes and this incident pushes me for want to support and give Pratt a very large chance
I'm giving this film a rating 10 / 10 for Nintendo and Illumination's best collaboration and everything in The Super Mario Bros. Movie had a loyalty to the original source in game 😊
I'm hoping we get Bowser Jr, the Koopalings, Boom Boom, Daisy, and/or Wario and Waluigi in the sequel
I'm also hoping for more of Mario and Peach's realationship and chemistry
I've always had faith in this movie and never doubted Chris Pratt
*Although initially the casting announcement was a joke to me, I waited to see a trailer before judging. Chris Pratt was pretty bad in the trailer, but those lines weren't even in the movie, they were just from the rushed trailer. I liked him in a Brooklyn accent because I watched the Super Show. Here in Brazil, Chris Pratt's Brazilian voice actor Raphael Rossatto and Charlie Day's Brazilian voice actor Manolo Rey did the Italian accent for the brothers, but I loved Pratt and Day's versions too*
Chris's preformance actually grew on me considering the down to earth take Illumination went with and as Mario got braver/more comfortable in the Mushroom Kingdom he started sounding just like the guy we associate from the video games. Its nice the og actor got a reference though.
Thank you for watching this movie I was crying that you watched this

The thing with Luma isn't that he's intentionally depressing, it's just that the Luma's essentially exist to go supernova and from that make a new galaxy, and with enough of them a new universe. That's pretty much the reason why the Luma wants to die.
Thank you for reacting!

@@ItsTotallyCody Phew, I thought you were Bowser for a second!
All the 8-bit NES eastereggs in the beginning are just pure nostalgia, like Charles Martinet playing the original donkey kong, punch out pizzeria, the dog from duck hunt and many more and the eastereggs from the super mario super show of course.
The dry bones can only be defeated by the invinsibility Star, all other attacks only stuns them for a short time.
Cody, to tell you the backstory on Spike, he was a character in a 1980s Mario game known as Wrecking Crew, a game where Mario and Luigi wreck things on a construction site (hence the name). He served as the antagonist of the game where he tried to hinder the brothers' progress in the game by pushing Mario down the construction site and collecting more coins than Mario in a certain level. He did appear in some other Mario games, including Wrecking Crew's Japan-only sequel, Wrecking Crew '98, where he worked for Bowser and helped him build fortresses, and even WarioWare Gold, but disappeared after a short while and most likely faded into obscurity. This movie is his first actual appearance in over
Both Mario and Sonic are always my favourite video games as well as their movies! Just so well done. Top notch!
From watching the movies, both Mario and Sonic hate mushrooms.
I fell in love with this movie when it came out. It was super faithful to the games, Jack Black as Bowser was fantastic, and Chris Pratt did surprisingly well as Mario.
As a mario Novice myself, your going to be in for quite the treat Cody! I've never had so much fun with a Illumination Movie since Despicable Me 2 + Minions combined. Its pretty much almost perfect in everyway. Only Downside I can think of was the pacing and Luigi not doing to much but the climax more than makes up for it! Mushroom Kingdom here we come! Im trying to see it again. Thats how good it is!
"That was fantastic" 😃 I told you it would be SPECTACULAR!!!! 34:08
Great reaction!!! This make me feel like a kid playing those games.
my favorite easter egg (besides the countless musical cues that stop after half a second) is in Peach's flashback to her training, when she grabs the pole she's wearing the Arabian outfit, the nod to Doki Doki Panic and the reason why Toad still wears it since that was his first game.
I love the peaches song! It reminds me of my college buddy.
That star moment had EVERY gamer I know hum starman. I was so blown away by this version. We waited 30 years to get a film of THIS caliber(after the flawed first attempt)
I'm glad you enjoyed this movie! I loved your reactions to it! I look forward to more of your content. ^_^
I’m glad to see that in this film they gave the Mario bros some background kind of like in the old show. Everyone did a fantastic job as the characters and all the call backs in here are phenomenal. They depicted bowser perfectly in this film he’s powerful, imposing, funny, but rotten to the core. Donkey Kong was perfect in this of being competitive and accurate to the games. Princess peach was great at not being a damsel instead being a perfect leader and independent. A perfect video game movie. 😎🎥👍
3:46 The character Foreman Spike was actually the character from a game called Wrecking Crew that came out in 1985 hasn't been seen since then
The dog scene felt like a minions sequence other than that the movie was incredible and seeing it with my brothers made it 10x better
Apparently the dog scene was a reference to Miyamotos childhood with a dog.
Chris Pratt did such an awesome job with his role, I don’t know why people had doubted him

Ok so your reaction video is the first time I’m seeing the movie, and let me just say that I was *not* expecting Peaches to sound like it does lol. It’s not bad or anything, but I wasn’t expecting the cheese! I love cheesy stuff though so I love the song
I haven’t grew up with playing any Mario games during childhood (save for the Super Smash Bros plus the party games with my siblings or friends of ours) but man, this movie BLEW ME AWAY!! I immediately love this movie and Chris Patt nailed it with his Mario voice! Same goes for the rest of the cast! It made me really pissed to hear and see so many of them being judgmental and having a lack of faith since they don’t really trust in their luck. But like I said, all of the voice cast did a splendid job voicing the iconic characters and I’m not the one complaining! But it did bring me happiness to see so MANY game references including the one scene where Mario plays the original Kid Icarus (I LOVE THAT GAME AND IM HOPING THEY MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF IT WITH MY FAV ORIGINAL VOICE ACTORS LIKE ANTONY DEL RIO) but otherwise, I’m glad you reacted to the movie Cody!
