Dude I have repaired lots of phones in the past and I have seen lots of glass only repair tutorials but your video is the best I've ever seen. You include all info that anybody would need to repair a S3. Keep up the good work man.

You sir are incredible!!! This video is not only informative but extremely detailed (step-by-step) CLEAR instructions on how to PROPERLY replace the glass on a GS3. Also I'm very impressed with all the attention to the key components of properly placing pressure to prevent the glue from seeping into places it has no business being in...haha.
Your prep work and techniques are incredible which you really don't see in other videos. They just breeze through it and I'm sure it's done on purpose so that others can try it and after a few failed attempts they give up and send their phone in to get it done professionally. (which I'm not entirely against because business is business) but for those who just want to mess around and have fun with a project you must watch this video!!!!!
Much appreciated and many thanks for spending time to properly film this process and share it with the world. I will do my part and recommend this video to everyone.
Thanks again and looking forward to seeing the same process for other phones.

JCD Repair You are awesome for making this video. I recently repaired my Note 2 and your video was the most helpful. For the screen removal, I used a heat gun to get the temps between 160 and 180F. I tracked the temps with a thermal leak detector I already had. I used a random rewards card to separate the screen from glue. To clean the digitizer I used eyeglass spray cleaner. In preparation for the LOCA glue, I removed the motherboard and snapped the screen back into the plastic casing. Instead of using 3M tape to seal the replacement glass, I bought some pre-cut adhesive sheets. For the LOCA glue install, I used the amount recommended on the bottle I bought from Amazon (there are diff amounts for different screen sizes). Then I used the technique with the food saver and a UV flashlight to harden the glue. I then took the screen out of the plastic casing to clean and harden any glue on the backside (some glue got into my volume buttons which was easy to clean). Home button had glue and with a wet towel I pressed it many times until it stopped coming out. The glue is messy but its all worth it in the end. Once again, Thank you!

Thank you so much! I'm a 53yo female fixed my phone with no problems. I didn't have a hot plate but I had a portable induction cooker that you can set the temp. I placed a flat cast iron griddle on top, set the temp to 160 and used a infared thermometer I bought at Harbor Freight, then a UV like my sister had for her sculptured nails worked perfectly!

Best repair job I've seen on UA-cam, very professional, no corners where cut you took your time and done a proper job, well done 10/10
Im very iffy about paying someone to fix any of my electronics but if they took the care and attention like you do I would happily pay them, but until I find someone equal to your high standards I'll continue to do my own repairs (with the aid/help of your videos)
    Many Thanks

You are definitely a good teacher on this. I understood it carefully and I, for one need to look at more of your videos because I've repaired the jack piece where the charger cord goes in into the bottom of an HTC I have although I was successful on it, the video I've had to watch to learn it was too complicated to learn and it and it gave me a hard time to get it. So thank you lots for being available to us all . You are thee man.

Great tutorial. I've done two S3's with these directions now and no issues except for not using quite enough LOCA on one leaving a couple of small bubbles on the edge, but still much better than the broken glass and better than doing the "glass with tape only" repair.

Thank you sir. Did my first UV glue repair. I made a couple of mistakes so i got one air bubble next to home button and UV glue spread to front camera, volume button and lcd connector. I cleaned those up so everything worked fine. I think the leaks was caused partly because i used 1mm double sided tape instead of 2mm.

Thank you for an incredibly informative and thorough repair. The attention to detail and every item involved was perfect. This was my second LOCA glass replacement, I do not have a food saver, but to set the corners and remove air bubbles I gently press them out with a dark microfiber cloth covering the portion of screen I am not working on, and once the bubbles are gone I expose a small portion of the screen to the UV light.

That was an expert repair for sure. Well done. I have a question that I can't figure out. When you put on the 1/2 inch tape on the bottom, was that double sided? I saw you put it on and take it off so it must be double sided. If it was, would it block the two contacts either side of the home button. Hope I have illustrated my point.

+Zoltán Páll This is obviously a top-notch way to do this repair, but an investment in all the tools is only feasible for someone doing a lot of units. You can work the glue to the corners and sides with gentle, steady pressure using your fingers. Go very slowly and be very patient. That said, this is an EXCELLENT video for anyone wanting to know the tricks of the trade.

This is probably the best repair video I have ever seen, and I watched it from start to finish. Great narration, cinematography and documentation. This is how it should be done. I have a few short questions:
    1) Does a Galaxy Note II repair follow the same process as the S3 [remove the broken glass, then the motherboard, then tape off for LOCA, etc.] or is there a better way to do it?
    2) LOCA I've found isn't available in graduated (marked in mL) tubes with plungers. Can it safely be dispensed or drawn into a syringe for application?
    3) If I apply too much or too little LOCA and need to restart, what should I use to clean the glass, screen, etc. for the next attempt? How much LOCA for a big screen like the Galaxy Note?

Is the glue viscosity low enough for the glue to seep into a glass crack, without removal or anything?
There's just a single crack that goes across my screen. If there's a clear glue out there that could seep into that that would be fantastic. No glass replacement necessary. You propably could still see it afterwards but it would be almost invisible.

I had my screen replaced by the local cell phone repair shop. It sounds like they used a process similar to this...but my brand new screen had a large thumbprint in the middle of it when they delivered it back to me. They say they can't replace the screen again...but they put it back under the UV light for awhile - with no success. After that, my sim card stopped working. Now, they are ordering a new screen protector (not sure how that would help). I watched this video in its entirety...and it is not clear to me in and how the LCD screen was cleaned before re-attaching the glass. And, how mine might have received a huge fingerprint during the process? Do you have any ideas? So far, they have refused to make this right and now I have a non-working phone (sim no longer works) with a huge thumbprint....

    • @bratina501
      @bratina501 10 років тому +1

Without the use of the adhesive two things could happen. The first is that the digitizer might not respond correctly and the second is that air bubbles will appear in the display. Another issue is the through put from the display will be reduced and it will not look right also any imperfections in the digitizer will appear.

    • @ChavezDIY
      @ChavezDIY 10 років тому

I first did it without the glue and only used a pre-cut adhesive sheet. I noticed that a bubble appeared in the middle where the digitizer and glass screen touched. I also noticed that the bubble area showed better colors and sharper text compared to the rest of the screen where the digitizer and glass didn't touch. Even though the touch sensitivity of the screen wasn't affected, that bubble was annoying and I wanted the rich factory colors and screen brightness as shown in the bubble area. So I redid the screen using the glue and its like brand new again =)

A hot plate is not a good idea for repairing phones, seeing as you said "you can melt the frame of the phone". Something as simple as a hair/blow dryer works perfectly fine to repair most phones/devices. Hair/blow dryers don't get as hot as heat guns do, and there's much less chance of burning the screen. You could even mount the hair/blow dryer on something like a desk lamps base, so you have constant heat being applied while working on the phone. It also would have been much easier to run the adhesive strips up & down the whole length of the sides of the phone, rather than taking time to cut them. I've never seen that vacuum method before, but it seems that mostly beneficial for stopping the screen from re-lifting during the curing process. Still a good repair, but could have been done a bit easier.

    • @ubreakitirepairit3569

+kollegs101 Don't really have a particular one that I can recommend. I bought a Conair 1875 from a thrift store for $5.95. If anything when purchasing one from a major retail store, see if the packaging tells you how hot it gets. I would also see about one that has that flat attachment, you can put on the end of it to spread out the heat. I just did an S3 for the first time a few days ago. It came out good. I did get a bubble, but worked it off to the side. 2.5ml of LOCA was enough.

    A few tips:
    1) If you're going to remove the logic board at all it makes sense to remove it at the start of the process.
    2) You clean the digitizer and then lay it down on the table
    3) You're using a metal screwdriver to disconnect a flex cable, always a bad idea,

What is the cost for a complete glass repair on a Mobile phone. The cost for a tablet glass repair. Many of us would like to know what your charges are and of the shipping.

Okay. Well. I tried replacing my glass and I didn't know if the sticky stuff (Preset Adhesive) was important, so I pealed it off and threw it the trash. I put the new screen on it and it works OKAY-ish but keeps on coming off due to the lack of adhesive. So currently there is plane Digitizer and Glass without adhesive. I was wondering if I can add this liquid adhesive as an replacement of the original adhesive that was there before?

Just wondering how the temperature climbs over the set amount of 160 degrees to the temps shown in the video if the heat plate is set to only 160. Great video though and very informative! Thanks!

Belated response, but it's because the hot plate is 160C (320F) which will rapidly bring up the temp of the glass.
It's a bit confusing because his thermometer is set to F and his hot plate to C.
