So I saw everybody giving 10/10 and 5/5 ratings of Brave Faces Everyone by Spanish Love Songs. I thought to myself..."maybe I should check it out?" Now I can rightfully say that it is one of my two favorite albums of the year, and a rightful 10/10. A huge thank you to Crash, Luke, Jon and Mark for getting me into SLS.
My favorite album of 2020 was Shore by Fleet Foxes. It’s such a breezy, soothing record, and it gave me a lot of comfort in the home stretch of last year. The production and instrumentation are incredibly tight, and even if it’s a big deviation from the sound of their first two albums, I think they pulled it off.

Great video with great picks, but I’ll preach my top 4 picks because they weren’t mentioned here and I think ya’ll should give them a listen: (5 would be Sawayama) 4: Dorian Electra’s My Agenda 3: Ichiko Aoba’s Windswept Adan 2: Envy’s The fallen crimson 1: HMLTD’s West of eden

Yo Thompson, metal had a good year for real. You just don't listen to much metal. Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Ayreon, Poppy and Bring Me The Horizon had GREAT albums.

I would've never discovered Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia', had you not given it such a strong recommendation. And coming from someone who's something of a Modern Pop Grinch, it ended up being one of my favourite albums of 2020, so I have you to thank for that. Sure, 'Don't Start Now' is MASSIVELY overplayed on the radio, but the album has some stellar deep cuts ('Cool' is my kind of jam).
You right about metal having a slumpy year. My favourites of the year are all metal, and this year didn't really hold many masterpieces or albums that will stick with me for years to come. My list is usually stuffed with djent, but I only had DVSR on djent for this year. That said, my album of the year is Virus by Haken.
I want to thank you and Rocked for introducing me to Brave Faces Everyone. To say this album fits last year to a T is an understatement, and I’m glad I found out about it. Thank you!

WAP is #1 in our hearts... and in our pants. Though, for real, even though it's a single, I would have been totally okay with having it as #1 on the list :D
Seriously, WAP slaps (or, IDK, drips), if only for the way it keeps on winding up the kinds of whiny crybabies who stumble across Todd in the Shadows' Best Songs of 2020 list and feel like they *have* to add their totally-original opinion about how WAP is ~so bad u gaiz waaaah~. (It's also a great song, but trolling the clowns will never get old).
90% of the music I listened to in 2020 was 30 year olds trying to just live and it's heartbreaking how much I could relate to that shit as a 19 year old from Denmark who still lives at home
My personal top ten/what got me through 2020: 1. Bob Vylan - We Live Here EP 2. BAD OPERATION - BAD OPERATION 3. Gorillaz - Song Machine 4. Jeff Rosenstock - NO DREAM / 2020 DUMP 5. Jessie Ware - What’s Your Pleasure? 4. Thundercat - It Is What It Is 3. Hum - Inlet 2. Code Orange - Underneath 1. Pyrrhon - Abscess Time I understand why you kind of abstained from metal this year. In a year as stressful as this I get why someone doesn’t want to spend their time on music that doesn’t scream in your face. But as someone who has struggled with current metal in the past few years, 2020 was one of the most exciting years in metal. I finally felt like I was actively involved in the scene rather than a distant observer. BTW I 100% recommend giving Abscess Time a shot. The lyrics remind me of RTJ4 and Brave Faces Everyone in that it’s astonishing how pertinent they are to COVID considering that they were written before 2020.

53:08 while I would put the album at number 3 (because of Jason Isbell and Spanish Love Songs), this song has remained my favourite of the entire year. Fuck yeah with this song!!
Feels like Loathe was the last band to get hype in Metalcore. Even in the Hardcore scene, the latest albums to get hype weren't the chugga chugga type.
Good list! I'm glad I got into Run The Jewels this year - I never was much for hip-hip, so I went in blind and I was treated to an incredible album as a result. I'm gonna have to check out Sharptooth as well, I have such a a craving for angry, feisty metalcore I haven't had since my teen years, and a lot of my long-running metal favorites either delayed or released kinda "meh" albums this year. On that note, a little shoutout to Eighteen Visions' sweet little 'Inferno' EP that proved that their solid reunion album and return to hardcore wasn't just a fluke.

@Cr1tikal’s Yu Gi Oh Collection I mean, I see your point, but I’ve followed for a good 5 years or so, maybe, and always thought he had Some flamboyant flair to him. Now, unless you’re referring to prior to that, then I wouldn’t know. Not that any of it matters ahaha.
Good sir Crash, I have only one criticism: I am not going to argue with any of your picks and actually I am glad your branching out to other genres but dude Protest The Hero should've been top 5. I get people can be split on Palimpsest a bit but for me it was perfect. It had everything I wanted to hear and so many surprises I was not prepared for that still floor me today. Either way still love you and you are still a noble senpai of new music, good luck finding tunes this year 🤘😊
Albums what I thought were good: The Chats - High Risk Behaviour: A very silly punk album that reflects the lighter side of being twenty something in 2020. Bob Mould - Blue Hearts : Bob can do very special things with that Stratocaster of his. METZ - Atlas Vending : The Canadian noise punks channel their fury into their best melodies yet. The Beths - Jump Rope Gazers : Superior sophomore effort from the kiwi indie rockers. Will Wood - The Normal Album : Inexplicable and brilliant mixture of do-wop, jazz, and musical theatre. Protomartyr - Ultimate Success Today : Detroit's finest ring in the 2020s with a melancholy yet triumphant culmination of their first decade making music. Long may they continue.
Good stuff, checking some of these I haven't heard out! And by the way, you don't look like your mother - your moobs need some serious growth, man. Keep up the good work in 2021!

Oh no... My favorite album of 2020 was only #19 and Crash dared to pull a genuinely funny joke on the fuckbois. Whatever will I do? XD Great vid dude! Hope next year will be even better, musically and just in general!
I know you didn't have many strong feelings for it, but AJJ's Good Luck Everybody is probably my favorite of last year. Best they've done in 8 years. Edit: not Including Ugly Spiral. That shit slaps.

Now I can rightfully say that it is one of my two favorite albums of the year, and a rightful 10/10. A huge thank you to Crash, Luke, Jon and Mark for getting me into SLS.
Losers is the worst tearjerker I had in a long time, it still hits from time to time
My favorite album of 2020 was Shore by Fleet Foxes. It’s such a breezy, soothing record, and it gave me a lot of comfort in the home stretch of last year. The production and instrumentation are incredibly tight, and even if it’s a big deviation from the sound of their first two albums, I think they pulled it off.

@@ringer1324 Thanks
Nice picks here. So glad that The Ghost Inside & Protest The Hero dropped albums! I thought we'd never hear from them again.
@@hellonurd8957 Same. Comebacks from both were certainly highlights of last year
I would've never discovered Dua Lipa's 'Future Nostalgia', had you not given it such a strong recommendation.
I also decided to take the dive after Crash talked about it earlier in the year. Its soooooo gooooood. I cant get enough of Hallucinate
My faves of 2020
3. Kesha - High Road
2. Trivium - What The Dead Men Say
1. Poppy - I Disagree
I want to thank you and Rocked for introducing me to Brave Faces Everyone. To say this album fits last year to a T is an understatement, and I’m glad I found out about it. Thank you!
3:57 - *Sawing distorted guitars*
4:09 - "Super chill, super relaxing, super mellow"
Non representative sample choice? :P
My top 10
10. Trivium- What The Dead Men Say
9. If I Die First- My Poison Arms (may be an EP but this was loads of fun)
8. Protest The Hero- Palimpsest
7. BMTH- Post Human Survival Horror
6. Bilmuri- Eggy Pocket
5. Farley Drive- Danger Danger (what the new Green Day should have been)
4. Signals- Death in Divide
3. Venom Prison- Primeval
2. Outrage- Run Riot
1. Spanish Love Songs- Brave Faces Everyone (obvious choice is obvious but it’s just that damn good)
I meant to watch the premiere but the inauguration concert was happening- but I have been looking forward to this ALL YEAR, it gives me so much to listen to in the coming year!!!
The description of your number one album makes me think of Rise Againsts album Endgame

•Grey Daze - Amends
•Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: Survival Horror

•Final Fantasy 7 Remake OST
•Youngblud - weird!
Bitch I'm 19, and Brave Faces Everyone got me crying on the train on my way to school the first time I listed to it.
90% of the music I listened to in 2020 was 30 year olds trying to just live and it's heartbreaking how much I could relate to that shit as a 19 year old from Denmark who still lives at home
My personal top ten/what got me through 2020:
1. Bob Vylan - We Live Here EP
2. BAD OPERATION - BAD OPERATION
3. Gorillaz - Song Machine

5. Jessie Ware - What’s Your Pleasure?
4. Thundercat - It Is What It Is
3. Hum - Inlet
2. Code Orange - Underneath
1. Pyrrhon - Abscess Time
I understand why you kind of abstained from metal this year.
Also, if it's any consolation, I picked a different album as my favorite of 2020, so no worries about picking _Spanish Love Songs._
That future nostalgia poster was also a spoiler
My Top Five:
Swamp Dogg - Sorry You Couldn't Make It
Honey Harper - Starmaker
Brian Eno and Roger Eno - Mixing Colours
Declan McKenna - Zeros
The Soft Pink Truth - Shall We Go On Sinning So That Grace May Increase?
Wow, I was shocked you grew less favorable to Underneath dude. That album gets better each listen to me. I love the bigger emphasis on Reba driven songs but getting heavier with the heavy (Swallowing the Rabbit Hole) is one of my favorite songs ever, and I just think it’s weird you grew less favorable. But I can respect that for sure.
Terrific video Crash, been watching you for years now and your passion is always inspiring! :) Sounds to me like I gotta check out that Ruston Kelly record and maybe relisten to Sawayama! Here’s my list, cheers!

Here are 2 country albums that I think you missed they are my 2 favorites of the year in genre
Chris Stapleton - starting over
Country with a southern rock edge memorable hooks and beautiful instrumentation with the best vocals in modern country (may I say In all genres)

Great vocals chill instrumentation great story's and just great songs
He actually didn't miss the Gabe Lee, he liked it.
@@franco1926 did he review it in a video
@@williambinns218 on the first fimi of 2020.
@@franco1926 thanks
I thought there was some good metal this year. Ulcerate's Stare into death and be still, Underneath, Havukruunu's release was great, Obliviosus, Glory Glory Apathy took Helm and many more
53:08 while I would put the album at number 3 (because of Jason Isbell and Spanish Love Songs), this song has remained my favourite of the entire year. Fuck yeah with this song!!
I thank you for the When I Die, Will I Get Better? album. Just like you did in 2019 with Moron Police, you recommended good stuff.
Dance Gavin Dance came out with a BANGER of an album in 2020
One of the best!
I'm here for Crash's radicalization.
yeeee
Here's My TOP 40 Favorite Albums of 2020:

Ahahaha crash, I’m not sure if I ever assumed you were straight!
Likewise dude, but crash, your content have always been A+
@Cr1tikal’s Yu Gi Oh Collection I mean, I see your point, but I’ve followed for a good 5 years or so, maybe, and always thought he had
Some flamboyant flair to him.
Either way still love you and you are still a noble senpai of new music, good luck finding tunes this year 🤘😊
Albums what I thought were good:
The Chats - High Risk Behaviour: A very silly punk album that reflects the lighter side of being twenty something in 2020.
Bob Mould - Blue Hearts
: Bob can do very special things with that Stratocaster of his.
METZ - Atlas Vending
: The Canadian noise punks channel their fury into their best melodies yet.
The Beths - Jump Rope Gazers
: Superior sophomore effort from the kiwi indie rockers.
Will Wood - The Normal Album
: Inexplicable and brilliant mixture of do-wop, jazz, and musical theatre.
Protomartyr - Ultimate Success Today
: Detroit's finest ring in the 2020s with a melancholy yet triumphant culmination of their first decade making music. Long may they continue.
Great job on the Jonathan Hultén record, holy shiiit I love it!
Higher Power sounds more like Snapcase than Deftones imo
All hail Snapcase
Later era Snapcase
What's the band name for 0:35 ? Not going to lie, that Morbid Angel shirt is what's selling me on them.
That's Svalbard. Their record was #14 on the list.
If you made a playlist of 1 track from each of the top 20, what would it look like?

3 Hellripper - The Affair of Poisons
2 Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kynsi
1 Imperial Triumphant - Alphaville
Good stuff, checking some of these I haven't heard out! And by the way, you don't look like your mother - your moobs need some serious growth, man. Keep up the good work in 2021!

Yesss love best lists. Some of my favorites in 2020 were Chromatica by Lady Gaga, Folklore by Taylor Swift and Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa.

Two bands from my home town, Bristol (UK), made the list!
Holy shit! My album request made the list proper! Yay! (Nice to hear you liked Sløtface!)
Crash! I love you bro, you are awesome
Thanks Crash, now I'm into Plasma Cutter! Though I will say it's bitch to find them on UA-cam.
Haven't watched this channel in a hot minute, I was low key expecting to see some love for Laura Jane Grace, but these were good albums too.
Crash said yeehaw rights
As someone who mainly listens to metalcore, it’s been real boring lately
Really hope Bring me the Horizon, Loathe, or Currents make the list.
I keep thinking you’re wearing an old Helix T-shirt.
Hard to follow up stage four, Jeremy bolm is one of the best around. He’s an awesome person.
Oh no... My favorite album of 2020 was only #19 and Crash dared to pull a genuinely funny joke on the fuckbois. Whatever will I do? XD
Great vid dude! Hope next year will be even better, musically and just in general!
Brave Faces Everyone is my new favorite album
I know you didn't have many strong feelings for it, but AJJ's Good Luck Everybody is probably my favorite of last year. Best they've done in 8 years.
Edit: not Including Ugly Spiral. That shit slaps.
I don't get how he doesn't like AJJ or Jeff Rosenstock
Spanish Love Songs!
did you too get destroyer's kaputt get pushed by the youtube algorhithm sometimes last year?

The new Protest the Hero cannot get out of my rotation. Easily my AOTY.
