Amazing. He goes in completely unrehearsed to sing a song that's not even in his key, and he's *still* better than every other leading man on Broadway combined. HOW IS THIS MAN REAL???
He is so funny lol the facial expressions... He is amazing I loved him in Hannibal and law & order Svu and then I found out he sings too and I was sooooo happy :) his cover of hallelujah is amazing too :)
Raul!!! Beyond super hot. Love him!!! He blew me away singing Hallelujah!!!! good Lord, this man is perfect!!! And now he is on LAW AND ORDER:SVU? WHAT A TREAT!!!
Trust me. He's a tenor. He has a stratospheric range that no baritone could ever begin to approach. And there's no such thing as "looking" like a tenor, or baritone, or any other vocal type.
What makes you think he's pretending? He'd only sung the song once several months earlier. It wasn't a song he was working with so he genuinely didn't remember a lot of it, he really did need to read over Seth's shoulder.
He's very definitely a tenor. Not a baritone at all. The lowest he can sing is about G below middle C. And the few times he's had to sing even that low, he's mentioned how very low it is for him, and how difficult that is for him to sing. His tessitura is solidly in the tenor range. He's got about a two and a half octave range. He can comfortably hit a high C and I would not be at all surprised if he can go a bit higher than that.
he's awesome. he has his own sound and while it may not appeal to everyone, it's the individuality in someone's voice/character that separates them from the run-of-the-mill carbon copy singers/actors.
I agreed with you. From this moment now he is my male performer favourite. His voice, his acting, his look, everything. Oh, how lovely will be on live on a stage.
This will continue to brighten my day for many days to come. Thank you Seth and who ever posted it and thank you Raul. BTW Raul is awesome in Twelfth Night? He does Shakespeare, too. He is a God!
with a full orchestral backing, script rewriting and a few rehearsals, this could be suprisingly epic...a male Elphaba...it wouldn't really fit in with the Oz books, film or the novel Wicked, but it could make for a nice 'mirror universe' story... ...i'd go buy that soundtrack ;)
Am I nuts or is that Seth Rudersky (sp?) On piano? Oh right also the fact that I got into Raul Esparza as a Broadway performer 10 years too late makes me want to die inside. 😭♥️
There's no use denying it. I kinda worship the ground this man walks on.
I would give my life savings and my eternal soul for a studio version of him singing this if I'm being totally honest.
Robin C. Preach
Honestly
He kills it. 🙌🏽
we need a "best of Raúl" CD / Album
@@ccsakura90 omg YES

The subtle sheepish bounce at 1:06 absolutely makes this. Entirely aware of his silliness.

This is hysterical. I'd love to hear him singing the song after some rehearsal.

What a perfect pairing of two entertainers in one night!!!! And Raul's voice fits this perfectly, I would have never expected it.
