Thank you for posting a precise question. The element crucial to this, is timing. Firstly, before you try gamak, it is very important that you are confident in playing "1 pardah/1 fret meends" in tune. Your muscle memory must be as accurate as you can get it and make sure that it doesnt go over ga, when pulling a meend from re. When that is done, the timing will come at play, for gamak. You want to hear the lingering sound/ trail of the meend, when pulling from re to ga. For example, if we are playing at 60 bpm, which is essentially 1 beat per second, you would want to spend around a 20% of that on re (pulling from it as soon as you stroke on it) and the rest 80% should be spent to the trail leading to ga. It is deifficult to explain through writting this, but here's my shot! Do write back if confusion persists.
