    Great video, as new to the hobby, i was shopping for a controller last November, I thought picking up one of the Pixlite 16 ready to run controller, but they were over priced, So ordered one from the states with less then third the cost of the pixlite include power supply and pigtails, but didn’t know about Hansen electronics, now will order some from them

      Which controller did you end up getting? The Pixlite's are certainly not the cheapest option but they are very reliable. Some of the cheaper controllers have fundamental design flaws I've seen some where they've been shipped with things not even soldered properly. Like most things you get what you pay for 😀

      @@donniesgarage Definitely PixLite Advatek Products are better then most other products, but it’s a little expensive. I got two Kulp Lights controllers, one of them didn’t work 😏 So you’re right about some others qualities

    donnie on the controller port 1 to 8 the connection for pixel postive data negative on the port 9 to 16 is the connection for pixel different when you look at controller on the controller there is a white line on each port what does that mean is it postive wire

      i can’t remember but the top ones i believe are opposite because the connectors on 9-16 are upside down compared to 1-8

    hi donnie i just want to make sure i understand right before i connect my second power supply to my controller i have one to port 1 to 8 so now i want to put one on 9 to 16 and want i did i took other ac wires and plug it to second controller so now i have 2 separate plugs to put into socket on wall is that ok want i did i just try to see want happen when i just plug a power supply to 9 to 16 it do not turn on is that right you have to power 1 to 8 first to make 9 to 16 to work thank you for your help its a advatek controller 340 pixel each port thanks for the help last time it works now

      Hey mate. The second bank should be DC wires (+ and -) from your power supply. The advatek controller you have is the same setup as mine just less pixels. If you go to 34 seconds in the vid its the red and black wires on the left.
      I don't know if you need to power 1-8 first then 9-16 or you can just do 9-16 by itself. I would assume both are possible
      Hope that helps :-)

      but could you add a second power supply to the controller how many pixel could you do with a 350 watt power supply

    • @donniesgarage
      @donniesgarage  2 роки тому

      @@denn450 you can add a second power supply but i believe you have to wire a negative wire between both of them otherwise the load does not balance and you get weird electronic behaviour. For how many pixels it really depends but you can do a calculation of how many watts per pixel, and how many it takes to 350W. It really varies because if you run at lower brightness, its lower draw. Also different manufacturers have different overall load as well. In short, very difficult to say exactly how many without knowing more sorry.

      i have 2000 pixels could the 350 watt handle that at 30 percent 2000x0.3w pixel x0.3 brightness=180 is that right thank you

    • @donniesgarage
      @donniesgarage  2 роки тому

      @@denn450 that is the general idea yes, but you are assuming that one pixel is 1W @ 100% white on brightness. Thats probably a safe estimate I believe most are lower than that

    hi donnie i plug a power supply to v2 port 9 to 16 on my advatek 340 pixels per port and nothing lights up on v2 is there a swith somewhere for port 9 to 16 i dont see any but when i put on v1 that one lights up

      Hi Mate, theres not power on or off switch for it. If it has power it turns on. I would check your fuses and wiring

      @denn450 2 роки тому

      i finally got it working my controller i email the company and they said you have to power v1 also with v2 you know when you add a prop in xlights do you use advatek assistant because where you add how many pixel they have the channel mark port 1 port 2 and so on do you have to follow that

    • @donniesgarage
      @donniesgarage  2 роки тому

      @@denn450 Advataek Assistant lets you configure how many pixels per port and the channels. Another one of the videos in this playlist explains how to do channels and universes :-) I'd strongly suggest joining the Official Xlights Group or the Falcon Christmas groups now that you've got your controller on.

    hi there i got a problem i just bought a pixlite and i plug it in and the red light flashes all the time is that normal where it says static i see the controller in window and the personne that had it in the advanced setting it says output 1 start universe 36 start channel 1 end universe 36 end channel 441 num pixel 147 num 2 output 37 and so on how could i fix that i have a mega tree with 431 lights all connect together how could i setup the outputs so i dont have to go back thank you

    • @donniesgarage
      @donniesgarage  3 роки тому

      Hi Den there is another video where i talk about channels - probably best to watch that. The Pixlite will constantly flash a light not normally anything to worry about.
      The way you set the outputs depends on how many lights you have plugged in to the controller ports e.g. 100 on port 1, 100 on port 2 etc

    • @denn450
      @denn450 3 роки тому

      hi there i tried everything but i get only 340 pixel and it seems in xlights the pattern dont match i have a mega tree with 450 lights all attached together one string and i connect to controller first output is that good

    Hi Donnie, do you use a raspbarri Pi (running Falcon Pi Player) to control your show, sequences and music as you would normally using a Faclon controller? If not, what do you use?

    • @donniesgarage
      @donniesgarage  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Corey yes we use a Raspberry Pi loaded with all of the sequences and music. This then sends all the required data to run the lights to our pixlite mkII lighting controllers. You can use a bunch of different lighting controllers or even PiHats. Have a look at Hanson Electronics for some lighting equipment or Kulp Lighting Controllers and Falcon Lighting Controllers.

      @@donniesgarage And, for your Megatree, where do you purchase the plastic mounting strips for mounting the pixels on the tree? Is the only place BOSCOYO Studio?

      @@corfoto4760 Depends on where you live. If you are in Australia you can get them from www.extremelightingdisplays.com.au/shop/christmas/pixel-rgb-mounting-strips/the-original-12mm-pixel-strip/ if you are in America I'd recommend Boscoyo (same products at each store). There are other retailers that have strips as well but the Boscoyo stuff is a far better as its much lighter and easier to push pixels through. The non-boscoyo stuff is incredibly thick.

    Hi Donnie, would you be willing to assist me my PixLite long range controller setup ?

    • @donniesgarage

      Hi Christo I think that the Pixlite Long range is set up the same way as the Pixlite main controllers but you just need to get the networking right with them to work, I've never actually used one to be able to do a video on it sorry.
