FINALLY someone explained all the differences between the glues!! You see one crafter using one type all the time and another one using another one all the time. Why? What is it that makes them choose them? And then they mess with your mind and throw in another one to glue something and you're trying to figure out why they would do such a thing. Now I know. I did have one crafter explain that if his Pod Podge is sticky that he puts Clear Gesso over it and it fixes that problem. I haven't had a chance to try that out yet ... something to look forward to. Thanks again for the enlightenment!! 😁
Hi, old lady here. Yes, the shingles shots is a two shot process. That said, I love your little books! I'm definitely going to make them. Sophia looked so cute sleeping in your box of papers. I don't have any ledger paper, but I think I can find something in my Heirloom stack. It has so many papers to choose from. I am new to your channel & home recovering from extensive oral surgery. Watching you is a great distraction from the pain & the discomfort from the swelling.
With all respect to you and your research, I never use rubber cement in my any paper projects. It will discolor whatever you put it on, and eventually let go. My first art teacher, way back in college warned us about using it and would not accept projects made with it, as they fell apart. What it is good for is gluing RUBBER. Like when we had rubber stamps & glued them to wood blocks. It is also useful in leather work to glue something together before sewing,
Mary Humphrey I agree. One of the good things about it is that you can tack a collage together temporarily and then you can pick it up and reposition it.
Mary Humphrey Omgoodness since I saw your picture I haven’t been able to take my eyes off it... please where in this world would a woman like you come from?
I also use Glad 'Press N Seal' under or over all my adhesive lids. I keep my glue sticks inside one or 2 ziplock baggies.....I apply thick swipes of glue stick to both pieces of paper - not just one side...
My friend just turned me on to rubber cement. It sticks very well. If you need to take it apart to alter or move it around, you can peel it off and stick it right back on wherever you want it! Awesome!
Excellent information !!!! Thank=you so much. (I love the YES paste....and I've never had a crinkle. I apply it with a credit care...scraping as thin as possible.) "Try it...you'll like it".....lol
Annie o I agree that YES paste is a high quality adhesive. I took bookbinding classes in Kansas City and the professional bookbinders I met swear by it. I've never had a wrinkle using Yes paste as the water content is super low. The only issue I have with it is the fact that it takes longer to apply because you have to smooth it out to ensure a thin layer--no bumps. When I want something to last for a long time (and maintain its archival properties), I turn to Yes paste.
I am also a UHU fan. I have several bottles of the liquid UHU too. It comes with different tips, one is like a sponge top applicator which I generally hate but, admit that it has it's uses. For large areas, I unscrew the dabber top, squish out a bunch and then use an old credit card to squeegee the glue. It does not wrinkle my paper. I rarely use the stick glue, but now that I've watched you for a while, will use it more. Especially for collaging. I have problems with Low humidity and find that the glue sticks dry out quickly on me. My fave "go-to" glue right now is Quick Grab Tacky Glue. I only have the small sample size bottle and my crafting buddy is bringing a large bottle on her next visit. I'm mildly concerned about the amount of finger strength required to squeeze the large bottle. I can manage the small one but I have virtually no finger strength due to arthritis.
Thanks Nik! This was by far a great, informative video. I have stood at ----------- staring in wonder of which glue/adhesive to buy, what works, what doesn't work, what works fast, what takes -- hours to dry, which one will give me the most bang for my buck, and so on. Yep, thanks for sharing your knowledge of GLUE!!! xx
I absolutely Love watching you girl... I can't tell you how many times i have spilled my coffee on myself... Thank you for starting my day with a SMILE Thank you Ole country Gal... Sandy G
Thanks for this. adhesives were the first product I researched when I started modern scrapbooking in 2001...Mixed-media, collage and assemblage are the mediums I usually work in. I uswed the Weldbond for a Styrofoam project - worked great. I gave away my Mod Podge - too stinky and sticky for me - I live in the 'humid' Midwest USA...Depends on what I'm attaching to what. In general, I like glue sticks for paper and collage. Then Elmer's white glue, Alene's tacky glue, Beacon 3-in-1, Yes! Paste, E6000, golden soft gel medium (matte), golden heavy gel medium(matte), Liquitex clear gesso, Liquitex white gesso, and hot glue gun. But colored craft staples are my fave for attaching paper and cardstock in my art journals.....Quick and easy....
Ouch! Sorry to hear that you've been hurting. Hope things have gotten better now that it's the weekend. Thanks for your critique of Turbo Tacky. I had heard good things about it, but will now think twice, thanks to you, as it would appear to be not as special as suggested by a friend. IMHO, there is a better alternative to Yes Paste, that being Liquitex Heavy Matte Gel Medium. I know you're suggesting that we should use a clear acrylic spray coat overtop of Mod Podge, but in my experience that has never been an adequate answer, especially in a book. I use a finishing wax very lightly, and a single buff coating has kept pages from adhering to each other for years, no problem. And there's very little setting/drying time. One brand I like using is Microglaze by Judikins. The amount required is very tiny -- teensy weensy tiny. I've had my most recent pot for at least a couple years. Very satisfying. ;)
I hope you are feeling better, get well soon! You are such a hero doing this with an achy mouth, respect! This was very helpful to me though I only know the glue gun, the UHU glue and the Modge Podge (and I don't own that one yet...). My big problem with UHU stick glue is it leaves some residue all over the paper, like little gooey smudges and I have ruined several of my collages trying to clean this, so that it doesn't show. Especially when you try to glue down magazine pages or scraps, a total nightmare... On the other hand I am very content with a no-name transfer and decoupage medium glue I got at a fair and I am really amazed because when it comes to paper it will glue it down and then leave a nice shinny effect if you use it on top. Haven't tried it on really thick paper though... The other glues you showed...I suspect I might have a PVA somewhere around the house. International brands are such a headache, I don't recognise or have seen anywhere in Greece any of the other glues - sigh - ...Discontinued products also are terrible, I totally agree there! Thank you very much for the very helpful preview, I am totally grateful! 🙏🏻💖💛🧡🖌
I'm late to the party here but I've been watching and using tips from Nik's videos for a while now. Want to share one adhesive that I use is a bottle of "Envelope Moistener with Adhesive". The brand I have now is Quality Park, their label says it's good for gluing all paper products. I use it on intricate die cuts. Just wanted to share. Stat safe!!
Nik I totally agree 3in 1 is the exact same glue as fabritac mine are identical ! , I have (I think) nearly evert glue ever 😂 4 full drawers of different glue , I love uhu stick too , and the weldbond, , Nik put some deli or wax paper under your lids of your yes paste , modpodge and decoupage glues, put it over top then screw lid over it , they will keep a lot longer , please look after yourself darling 😘 great video
I also use Glad 'Press N Seal' under or over all my adhesive lids. I keep my glue sticks inside one or 2 ziplock baggies.....I apply thick swipes of glue stick to both pieces of paper - not just one side...
Great review! I love Weldbond! It doesn't cause paper or card board to buckle or wrinkle and it lets glitter stay shiny when put over top, where as white glue takes the shine away from glitter. I got those two Beacon glues....and I agree...they are exactly the same product.
You should give 3M spray adhesive a try, it works really really well for adhering thin sheets of paper without wrinkling. It is a bit more intense to work with, needs good ventilation and you should wear gloves but it seems to do a decent job for most of my projects.
Thank you for this video. This is great for people like me who just started crafting and have no absolute clue/glue what they are doing. It's very helpful. Thanks again ❤️
You are so awesome. I was just telling a couple of friends that I need to find out which glues to use. You have saved me a lot of time researching them. Thank you thank you thank you
Very informative...I have to say that I ditched most of those when I found Art Glitter Glue. It is the most awesome glue I have ever used...for everything. And it never wrinkles
I use hot glues a lot. I've found that the only way to get a good grip (on just about anything) is to use "high temp" glue gun/sticks. I use the multi-temp (aka: low temp) on things I don't care to have a long life, such as costumes or temporary decor. As you said, hot glues are good for "instant gratification". We all need that from time to time. Thanks for the comic relief, I always love watching your vids. Please keep up the great work.
I use my powdered duster first embossing powder on top of my totally dry matte medium and modge podge papers and it stops the sticking immediately and so easy to use without a spray. If you don't have a boughten one you can take a square of flannel and put half corn starch and baby powder together and pull up the corners, secure with a rubber band. I personally just use baby powder in my homemade one and I keep it in a zip snack bag. I hope this might help someone.
I love Tombow glues, Art Glitter glue, Uhu sticks, Fabric-Fix, Modpodge, matte gel medium....the list goes on. But different glues work differently depending on where you live! I have recommended glues and the person lives in a humid climate and doesn’t get the same results as my “Arizona dry heat”. So best to purchase small bottles of different glues and try them out to find what works best for you and your project. Climate makes all the difference.
This video couldn't have happened at a better time for me. I do a lot of mixed media canvas art, have for years, and have all the glues you showed and more. Yesterday I was suddenly totally unsure which one to use for a certain application. It was great to see a refresher course on all the glues. Cleared my head. Love your art, love spending time with you, enjoy the variety of projects and ideas. Always something new to try. Please, keep it coming.
I use Dorland's wax to combat mod podge stickiness. I use the repositional glue for temporarily masking areas while layering mediums. Kinda like a sticky note of any shape you need.
Hi, Nik! I live in Phoenix, so humidity is not a problem. I made Harry Potter school books for my grand twins. I used the UHU glue stick to adhere the "class schedule" to the inside of a composition notebook. Two days later it was just lying there, no adhesive at all. The back of the schedule and the inside of the book where I stuck it were both just plain dry! My new go to glue stick is the Elmer's Extreme. It sticks fast and stays stuck. Love ya, waiting for the new class!
Glad to see you back spreading the goodness!! Hope you are feeling better soon!! Love your glue choices!! I agree on all of those being awesome!! I also really love the art glitter glue for putting something small down quick!! Thanks for sharing!!! Always, Leslie

Back in 2018 I was trying to buy some Fabri-Tac glue (because that's what you use) and all I could find was Fabri-Fix. I sent an email to the Beacon folks asking what the difference was between them. I got the following reply: "Fabri-Fix and Fabri-Tac are very similar. The resin for Fabri-Fix is a bit lighter, as it has a higher molecular weight, but that’s the only difference." I'd be willing to be that the 3-in-1 falls into the same range of a very slight difference. They seem very open to questions about their products. Thanks for all your great videos. Hope you and your mouth are feeling better.
I like to use a couple tiny hot glue spots along with slower drying glues. Then I don’t have to hold things or try to find some other way to hold the drying objects together. Thanks for sharing all this information about the various glues used in papercrafts/crafts!!
Hi Nik! I have to agree with your list of favorites except for Mod Podge. I live in Southern California and we don't have the humidity but still I get the slightly tacky feel when applying thin coats. Instead I use Rangers Distress Collage Medium in Matte. It doesn't have that sort of tacky feel you are talking about when it dries. Of course, it is more expensive I am sure but I use it only on the book covers!
Thank you. This was helpful. It would have been better if you'd given a couple of examples of situations where you use each glue especially. I'm sorry you had to have surgery. Hope you recover quickly!
Oh, and THANK YOU for the tip about the Tim Holtz plates! I, too, lost my brads and I have about 6 of them left and I haven't used them because I didn't know what to do without the brads. NOW I KNOW!!!!
Hi Nik, a great and entertaining video as usual. I use PVA a lot in paper crafts and I use Glossy Accents to put a top coat on paper beads - they are as tough as wooden beads after that. I just bought a UHU glue stick to try out as I use the liquid UHU whenever I want something to stick really well, like when putting a book together. It dries quickly but does give you a little wriggle room. It doesn't warp the paper either.
Thanks for sharing what works for you. Sobo and Modge Podge are both made by Plaid and I will not use either. I have used Yes Paste for years and never had any wrinkles. Do not add water and apply with a credit card in an even thin layer. Works wonders evey time. I do like Beacon and Glossy Accents though.
JJsJoyfulCreations Omgoodness since I saw your picture I haven’t been able to take my eyes off it... please where in this world would a woman like you come from?
So glad you are back! I agree with you about YES adhesive. I used to live in the dessicated Mojave and found that everything I made there, using YES was coming apart. Mini-book covers, hinges, pictures, you name-it. I also found that some of the imitation versions of Scor-tape also came detached. Environment is an important factor for adhesives that I never hear discussed. Since I started using Fabri-tac I have become totally converted. I even used it to fix spalling paint at a friends house prior to a house inspection. Sections of very dark paint from 15 years ago went back down all happy and haven't popped. Can't even see the outlines. Any smell it contains? Worth it.
You really need to try art glitter glue. It not only gives you a little wiggle room, but it then dries strong quickly, clear and matte. It doesn't leave "veins" under the paper either. Thank you for sharing your thoughts otherwise! Love your style, ideas and humor!
Wow, talk about timing! Today I made my first art journal entry in years...a collage. And I was about to seal it with ModPodge. Yikes. So thank you for all the great info and your impressions. Looks like there is no perfect glue, especially a Dollar Tree glue stick (ask me how I know). Anyhoo, thanks again, Ms. Nik. I hope you heal quickly from that dental surgery. Cheers, Ardith
so, which one would you use to adhere the fabric to the chipboard when I make a journal cover...would it be the PVA and you pour it into a liitle cup and brush it on? cause what I've tried is some of the others you have there, but one warps, the other dries to fast...help! Everyone's video says..."pour out some glue and apply with any old brush..." but no one actually says which they use.. thanks Nik have a great weekend...thanks for sharing
Your so sweet to share yourself...I love to put my ipad on the shelf above my kitchen sink so you can help make washing dishes an enjoyable chore...almost he he. Hope you feel better soon. Also would you mind giving a bit more info on uhu sticks. I want to invest in them but not sure if permanent or washable are more desirable. Thanks again Nik!
If you can get some cheap nail builder gel ( it comes in a variety of weights) or gel polish and you have a UV lamp, you can use that to make the fake brads - the UV will cure it in a few seconds. Great for when you are in a hurry! Make sure to get a no wipe version, to avoid a tacky layer on top.
I Love Liquitex matte medium- it never makes my paper buckle. Rubber cement does. not. last. After a time your papers will separate. Fabri-tac is definitely a favorite. Dries fast and flat...in New England anyway. I’ve found that different glues work in different climates. Where you live in the U.S. makes a huge impact on how glues work. Yay Glossy Accents...but be patient...which I am not.
We are very low humidity here. I can’t use fabri fix in winter but I can use 3 in 1. No idea why because other than that I see no difference. Yes paste works great here year round but it does have to be SUPER thin, then everything dries nice and flat. Uhu is AMAZING! AnaMaree💜
This info really helps the newbie. I have a small arsenal of glues growing in my basket and I'm going through glue sticks like a bad habit. I will definitely try the Uhu since Elmer is so not trying to "commit", lol.
I agree with your glue choices too. But I recently watched Roxie Creations and thru a Happy Mail she got an Amazon Basic glue stick. She used it & liked but not as much as her Italian glue stick but said it was good. So I bought a case of 12 for like $8. And you know what? It is good & a lot cheaper than Uhu. So now I have been using this glue stick & I am happy with its performance! Just an FYI. Thanks for another great video Nik! Hope your mouth/teeth gets well soon, nothing more miserable than teeth aches.....have a great day! 🤗
Hi Nik, I also had dental surgery two days ago and am popping Ibu and antibiotics to make things bearable. I hear you! I am all the more happy, that I can start my birthday today with a video on glue by my favorite UA-camr by far! Thanks for your great videos!!!
Hola, Nik and fellow Nik followers! About the repositionable glue thang: I thought the same as you until I found some good uses for it. Say you're creating a layout for something... a book cover or an art piece, for example... and you've got a handful of elements to include. Laying flat on your work table is one perspective, but you also wanna see it in the light or from a distance - to decide where to place things. Temporary adhesive is a good tool. Until you decide definitively where stuff should go, you can move elements around. And when ya love it, ya glue it. Just wanted to throw that out there, since I've found it useful. Think of it like a post-it note for stuff other than notes :)
Awesome video explaining all the glues! Thanks for your insight! I have some trouble with Modge podge with its tackiness after drying so I am going to try a couple of other decoupage glues out. Maybe I need a better clear coat. We’ll see.....
You are absolutely correct: a girl needs glue! But, you do need at least one more. Connect Glue by Gina K. It's a game changer for adhering small bits of paper. Well, and large bits of paper as well. Available through her store, on-line and at Simon Says Stamps. Try it. I promise you'll like it.
I looked up the difference between the fabric-tac and 3-in-1 cause that’s what I do when something is bothering me but anyhoo, the fabric-tac is permanent and the 3-in-1 can be removed from the clothing by having the fabric dry cleaned
The spray adhesive goes on really thin, and is like rubber cement. Have to watch out for the overspray, though. Try it! Love all this glue talk! You're the best!
Omg! You are hilarious! I’ve been binge watching your videos 😀 You could make watching grass grow videos and they would be so interesting with your sense of humor! Sending prayers for you to heal fast from your oral surgery.
I live in the UK so many of these brands aren't available. I did splash out on some Fabri-tac (it is criminally expensive here). The fabrics I used it on came apart within weeks. Also, acetone based products and asthma - not a good mix. Life is too short to have to go outside every time I need to stick something down!
I live in the desert, so I probably use more PVA than I should. I am a big fan of Aileens Quick Dry Tacky glue. Not so much the others. I bought a bundle of 3 different kinds when I first started crafting and it is the only one I regularly use. The secret is thin lines. And really, I only use it for lines of glue, if that makes sense. Not usually big areas. Though I will mix it with Beacon glue at times when I squiggle over a larger area. My hands hurt a lot so the Beacon glue can be a pain literally. Maybe if I throw some acetone in it, it won't be such a struggle to get it out of the bottle. Otherwise I would use it more. Thanks for the discussion. I really need to get some of that glossy accents.....
I actually spoke with someone at Beacon about Fabri-tac and Fabri-fix. I don’t know anything about the 3 in 1.
What he said was that Fabri-tac is more rigid because it has more resin in it. It’s better for gluing leather and rhinestones. Fabri-fix is better for paper because it’s less rigid.
Also, he said a little trick to stop glue webs is to put Vaseline on the tip of the tube!
I hope that helps!!! 💜
Thanks for doing that!

Can't live right without glue. Thanks for showing your favs and the pros and cons of the others.
👍💕👍
I just redid my studio and ALLL THE GLUUUUUUE! I can't believe all the glue I have! I LOVE GLUE!!
GREAT informative video. Thank you SO much!
Yes Paste has attracted moisture and discolored craft paper for me. I used it to put paper on the back of a frame.
Thx Nik! So appreciate any of your videos! Get to feeling better!!!!
I use Dorland's wax to combat mod podge stickiness. I use the repositional glue for temporarily masking areas while layering mediums. Kinda like a sticky note of any shape you need.
That's rather genius! I love the sticky note analogy :)
Leslie's Creative Studio Omgoodness since I saw your picture I haven’t been able to take my eyes off it...
please where in this world would a woman like you come from?
Interesting and informative take on your glues. Hope you feel better soon.
The resin for Fabri-Fix is a bit lighter, as it has a higher molecular weight, but that’s the only difference."
I'd be willing to be that the 3-in-1 falls into the same range of a very slight difference.
Thank you Nik for the info and chuckles 😊😁
Thanks, Nik. Always nice to know someone's recommendations.
Thank you. This was helpful. It would have been better if you'd given a couple of examples of situations where you use each glue especially. I'm sorry you had to have surgery. Hope you recover quickly!
Get well soon 🌹
I thought you would explain which glues you use in differnt projects
Nik, THANK YOU for your honesty about some products! We need to know before we spend our limited funds and this was very helpful for me.
Brilliant Nik - so much useful information! Thank-You so much!!!
Now I am going to look around to see if you still use/love these!! Thank you for this video and your thoughts!! (-:
Worth it.
Love heating your take on glues. I love art glitter glue to glue metal, to my books it holds well. Love your bookplate die, wishing I had it.
You really need to try art glitter glue. It not only gives you a little wiggle room, but it then dries strong quickly, clear and matte. It doesn't leave "veins" under the paper either. Thank you for sharing your thoughts otherwise! Love your style, ideas and humor!
"....you better commit...." omg--laffin' SO hard I spewed iced tea all over myself. When will I learn? 😂
That is just what I researched the past couple of days. Thank you Nik for your input.😘
Thank you for sharing this video. Nice to see and hear what your favorites are. 👍🙂
so, which one would you use to adhere the fabric to the chipboard when I make a journal cover...would it be the PVA and you pour it into a liitle cup and brush it on? cause what I've tried is some of the others you have there, but one warps, the other dries to fast...help!
Everyone's video says..."pour out some glue and apply with any old brush..." but no one actually says which they use..
thanks Nik have a great weekend...thanks for sharing
I love that little music video in there!
You are a compendium of very useful information! Thanks for this one!
AnaMaree💜
I apply my Yes! Paste with thin swipes using a gift/hotel card....no wrinkling for me!
This info really helps the newbie. I have a small arsenal of glues growing in my basket and I'm going through glue sticks like a bad habit. I will definitely try the Uhu since Elmer is so not trying to "commit", lol.
Helpful video, I have been experimenting with different glues. This was very helpful as you use and review some I have not used.
Can I just say that its hilarious that this is a 25 minute video about glue? I loved every minute of it. You are the reason why I use the Beacon glue
Hi Nik,
I also had dental surgery two days ago and am popping Ibu and antibiotics to make things bearable. I hear you! I am all the more happy, that I can start my birthday today with a video on glue by my favorite UA-camr by far! Thanks for your great videos!!!
Love the Glossy Accents faux-brad hack. Thanks!
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO FUN ,EVEN WHEN YOU DO NOT FELL WELL-BLESS YOUR HEART-I HOPE YOU WILL FEEL BETTER SOON-TFS NIK-YOU ARE THE BEST-HUGS/BLESSINGS
Awesome video explaining all the glues! Thanks for your insight! I have some trouble with Modge podge with its tackiness after drying so I am going to try a couple of other decoupage glues out. Maybe I need a better clear coat. We’ll see.....
If you aren't well then you will feel sluggish, get well soon, love your videos from Australia
Even in Arizona it can get sticky. I used it to seal some sculpey projects and they are gooey. Definitely still need the acrylic sealer.
Great information, thanks a bunch Nik. Take care … we all want you better ❤️
Just love your narration of things it even makes glue so very interesting tfs your favourites xx
Thanks Nik, great info.
Omg! You are hilarious! I’ve been binge watching your videos 😀 You could make watching grass grow videos and they would be so interesting with your sense of humor! Sending prayers for you to heal fast from your oral surgery.
Great information, Nik! Thanks! I'd heard of PVA glue, but never tried it. Think I will! Thanks for the video!!
I live in the UK so many of these brands aren't available. I did splash out on some Fabri-tac (it is criminally expensive here). The fabrics I used it on came apart within weeks. Also, acetone based products and asthma - not a good mix. Life is too short to have to go outside every time I need to stick something down!
Get well soon...we need uhu in our daily UA-cam lives. I hope you feel better I myself dont care for dental procedures but we need them. Stay Blessed.
Thank you...this answered questions I had.
Very informative Nik, and hope you feel better soon
I appreciate the glue overview and the comments of viewers - all so valuable but what is art glitter glue and why would I want to use it? Ty Nik!!
Love your work!!!!! Have you ever tried wheat paste in bookbinding? Feel better soon Nik ❤
I'm in the desert as well. Lots of good info here.
