Love your work Horst. Just picked a bottle of local barley, 15 and 21 yr old from a friend in the industry. The 15 is absolutely packed full of character. Delightful.
Excellent feedback by The Grand Master. I have three 10y old from Springbank. Three 12y old , two 15 years old, one 18y old and one 21 years old. I intend to open one 10 and one 12 years old during the holidays to be shared with my Brother and great friend Sylvain. Two distinguished whiskey amateurs and viewers of The Grand Master here on the Channel. Now I have tasted all of them at friends and at whiskey tastings ! And to me there is no hype . These are just fantastic products.
Excellent review, as usual, Horst. Springbank 10 is one of my favorites. Best value of their core range offerings. I spy an Explorer 2. I have the 16570. Fit my wrist much nicer, but man I love that orange GMT hand!
I randomly came across springbank 10 and 15 at my local total wine at a very low price. I was very surprised. I bought one of each. I really enjoyed it.
Springbank stopped production only for 6 month in 2008-09, there is huge demand and small supply as their doing everything in traditional way on small scale, that's the reason
It is still very hard top find it in Switzerland. I love this one so much ! For me it is a classic like the laga 16yo, pricy but so far over the production, a real taste signature and complex like every sip is an experience. A lovely drink
Bought two bottles last year for 75.- out of fomo. Glad I did. You can still easily get longrow, hazelnurn and of course kilkerran for reasonable prices here in Switzerland.
Just received my first bottle of this after waiting 18 months. WOW this is truly something special. I also have the Killkerrin 12 which is very very similar. Hard picked to pick between these 2. They are both exceptional. Heavy barley influence which I love and the oily texture is divine. Man this is heaven. Fortunately I have both of them now but would happily buy more if I could. Campbelltown is definitely my favourite region. Not for everyone, but for me it is perfection.
At the beginning of 2020 was 40 €, the 15 YO was 70, the 18 YO was 130. I manage to buy the 21 YO with 250 € and the 25 YO with 465 €. Now, Springbank is so expensive, the 25 YO is 3000 €. Ridiculous. I sold my 25 YO with 1400 at auction.
I managed to snag a bottle of this and was not impressed at first. It took a few days to settle but it turned out to be an excellent dram but not equal to its hype or afterseller prices. EDIT (managed to get it for 10,000 yen $70USD which is a steal. Aftersellers here selling it for 17,000 yen and 26,000 online. Ridiculous.)
I’ve noticed that a lot of whiskies in Japan are actually cheaper than the US. Not sure if this is just because the historically strong dollar to weak yen or if Japan just imports a ton of scotch.
@@robfut9954 yes, you’re absolutely right. In Canada a bottle of Ardbeg 10 year is 100 dollars. Here it is 60. There is still the huge markup for these “scarcer” whiskies relative to the retail price.
In UK the price is or was £52-£54 I just managed to get one but it is very difficult you need to be lucky. Even if you in a shop where they were lucky enough to receive six bottles it doesn't mean that they will sell you one and obviously you can only buy one!
The 10yr old Springbank was the first whisky I was most determined to try on a recent visit to Scotland as it's very hard to find in Australia 🇦🇺...Let me say in my humble opinion that the legend of Springbank whisky is true. It's expensive and very hard to get hold of a bottle but this is a incredibly complex satisfying dram on many levels...unlike anything else I've tried. It's stunning....then you try the 15yr and then the 18yr and you're hooked on this incredible distillery.🥃🙂
I can’t believe the hype that this bottle has received. People lining up and entering raffles for a VERY expensive bottle of ten (10!) year old whisky. I honestly wasn’t overly impressed with it, if it were readily available and priced in line with most 10 year malts fine… but this is coocoo.
@@peatbull3426 I do believe that in the UK it “can” be easier to get. But the price you paid is a very very very good deal even by what I understand UK standards to be.
@@robfut9954 100% true. I went every online shop i usually buy whisky and left notice: let me know when it back in stock because everywhere is permanently out of stock. Last week i checked my phone for email and seen message from few whisky shops that Campbeltown's bottlings are in stock so i immediately click for order and bought 4 of them: Springbank 10 £50, Kilkerran 12 £48, Kilkerran Heavily Peated £46 and Hazelburn 10 £53.(it was 10 am and i been in work). I've been so lucky! Aprox 1hr later i have checked again and everywhere all bottles were out of stock. I hounting for them 2 years! So i have had so much luck by otherway a loose all ballots for older age statement Springbanks, Longrows and Hazrlburns which never were in stock only ballots. Hope you get these all some day 🤞😁🥃🙋♂️
Frank, got lucky with a store around Myrtle Beach with old inventory and prices hanging around. Cleaned out 10, 12 CS and 15 over the last year. Keep looking in the smaller shops.
THE PAPPY OF SCOTCH... my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE

I have try this before, well balance between bourbon, sherry and light peaty. Really a repeatable one.

Thanks for the great review Horst.
Wow, review is just in time! I’ve managed to get some bottles on the auction for more or less reasonable price. Looking forward to try it as well. 👍

$110 USD and it is available. I can get Bunna 12 for $65 at the same store.

Totally agreed, which is why I just refuse to buy it now. A personal boycott

i have 20 bottles of springbank 10 in my collection, but i think that i drunk more than 10 bottles of it. Campeltown is my favourite region
can i ask what batch release/code is this?
Just got one 55 pound

think they just do it to then re-sell. It's always out of stock and hard to get, then I see the retailer selling them later for mark-up.
I bought this Springbank 10yo week ago from online retailer in uk for exactly £50 so 🤷♂️

Its that damn good
Fantastic on its own of course but I found that I enjoyed it very much with a little water added as well.
Just opened mine, and it’s really good. A bit hard to get in the United States, but it can be found with a little hunting.
Wish I could find a springbank here in columbia sc.

@@djbeacon6895 thanks DJ, appreciate that. I'm still searching online, but prices are up there!!
The box made it look like you just pasted the image in from MS paint 😆
10 year springbank is like 90 Euro here in Nederland. I refuse to pay that.
Same story here in Italy....
Spring Bank is only available on auctions for 200-300 euros for a bottle.Spring Bank=Auction Bank
As of mid-November 2023, one online seller offers a bottle for $175, exclusive of shipping costs.
The price of Springbank doubled over the past 24 months !
A great whisky, but I would avoid paying more than $75.
