- My band (VORBID (shameless promotion (don't hurt me))), just released the first single from our upcoming album. We got Guitar God Chris Poland to do a solo, and basically, we're happy.

This man is the most unique guitar player in metal history. He's my favorite, his sound is recognizable from miles away

I really love his sound and style but Friedman, in my mind, was/is every bit as unique and recognizable. I'm not picking favorites here either;* my point is that Dave has been fortunate enough to snatch up some fantastic guitarists over his career.
My most favorite leads from all of MDs albums came from Chris and Marty. Dave's leads are unique too though. I've always thought of his leads as a more disciplined King but with a harder to reach tremolo bar.😂
* edit - .. and of course both of them Jane had careers outside of that band. They both really did get their "big" starts in it though and that band profited greatly from their contributions. When I think of Megadeth guitarists I think of, obviously, both Dave's and then Chris and Marty.
@@CynHicks I prefer Poland's sound over Marty's sound. Poland is on another level in that department.

@@ingleringlet-snipps3rd449I will say that Chris's note clusters in his legato are on a different level. Very vocal like in that he is focused on alignment with the meter but not so much with the divisions. He shuffles; I suppose that's the better way of putting it.

To this day that intro brings all kinds of emotions. Like I've said in the past ; it's the sound of a young man passionately pouring his heart out on guitar but with discipline and focus. So good.

To tell you the truth, me and Michael (the other guitarist in our band) has always been extreme Poland-fanbois. For the new album we played around with the idea of a guest guitar solo, but in the end it was just like "ok, what's even the point of having a guest guitarist if it isn't Chris Poland..." Well, one day Michael is at a party or something, and decides that this is as good a time as any to hit up Chris Polands agent. 2 months later we were laughing. Also, they were very nice and professional.

Sounds great, but the death metal screaming ruins the song imo. Why does every modern metal band have to scream so much that you can't even discern the lyrics anymore?
Thanks man! The screams are certainly a taste thing, and I spent some time getting used to it myself. Personally I think that a lot of brutal music loses its nerve with clean vocals, but you do have a fair point. Some scream-music out there might've been better off with other types of vocals. I think that a lot of metal bands start out with these kinds of brutal vocals either because of a lack of formal vocal training or it might just be the norm in the genre, but I really couldn't give you an answer. Thanks anyway :) A lot of critics hide in the forums, so it's nice to have it direct.

His agents info is on his page. He'll tell you the details. We payed studio expences only. Don't remember exactly but it wasn't much at all. He is this much of a legend and doesn't charge for his magic.
