I'm wondering is it possible for a Boeing LRV to combine with a Type 7 LRV then combined to Type 8 Tram or not? Because a Union square bound E Branch Tram uses a Type 8 combined with Type 7 tram towards Union Square via Lechmere Type 7 front Type 8 rear Heath Street via Northeastern University Type 8 front Rear Type 7
You would be very surprised at how many people can cram themselves into a type 7. Coming out of North station after a Bruins game and every trolley for the next half hour is packed like a clown car. It’s almost crazy to think about in the age of Covid
Only the ones shown in the video will be scrapped. There are some that have already been scrapped. In guessing 5-10 type 7s have been scrapped in total. Sorry for the late response!
@@BostonByRails the three first Type 7s to get retired and scrapped was 3648 and 3657 in 1989 and 3672 in 1992. 3648 was left partly scrapped all the way until 2012 until it was completely scrapped. The scrapped 3648 was 3648-A and 3639-B. While today 3639-A and 3648-B is completely 3639.

Thats a very good point, but the LRVs are retired but i guess could go to the mattapan but definatly the type 7s because theyre all wrecked. And im sure the MBTA has a plan for the trollys
Supposedly, 3448 was painted orange as part of a plan to use Boeing LRVs on the Mattapan line. However, the funding was turned down and it never happened.

1:39 Was that car involved in the 2008 crash on the D branch?
Indeed

Yea good question, im not sure!
The answer is yes it could, but the reason a type 7 and type 8 are deuced up is simply for ADA compliance. Type 8 is low floor with bridge plates
The reason why the Boeing cars were scrapped was because the person who work on the Boeing LRV’s retired

Awesome! May those Rest In Peace 🙏🙏🙏
bro this intro slaps
WorldwideRailfan thanks!
Awesome!
I know 3703 was wrecked on the riverside line back in may of 2008. How did 3711 and 3719 get wrecked?
How many Type 7s were scrapped or written off?

Boston By Rails 14 total before these, is now 17.
Were those the ones destroyed from collisions?

0:29 was that supposed to be a heritage paint scheme???? And was that a Buffalo metro LRV?
This reminds me of the really old units in Boylston street station
Alec TV yeah!! Luckily those units havent been scrapped
Boston By Rails, I think I rode an LRV or something like it SUPER long ago..
Carlos Aguilar sadly no, the scrapping didnt happen there and i have no clue where they where sent
Wdym?
RIP boing LRVs and those type 7s...
Alec TV yeah 😔
All were scrapped in March 2020
Got a miss those stainless steel Type 7s. I really wish the MBTA can clean those trains in service ones better.
Yes! They definantly should have!
why dont they just put them in mattapan and get rid of some of those old pcc trains that are barely holding together

the mattapan trains are cool

Boeing makes trams?
TriceRail they used to. Im pretty sure they dont any more, but wehn they did they teamed up with another company.

The Boeing-Vertol LRVs were astronomically unreliable.
The LRVs has to go but why scrap the 7’s? Is it because they have the 9’s now and don’t need 3 types of rolling stock?
The type 7s aren’t slated to be scrapped until the type 10s enter service.
