Very helpful video, i have one question. The BMW manual says you should fill the system with vacuum on the B58 engine. They say "filling without the vacuum filler device is not permitted" but my question is, is that really necessary?

Have you done a coolant flush on the car? I looked at the technical manual and it stated you would need to use a pump and pressurize it. Other guys have done it's like a drain and fill, wondering if it's the same here
Does this apply for the G30 530i models as well? I might have to check under the wheel well to check for any leaks as I noticed a small change in the coolant level in the main tank.

Good video. Looks like a new expansion tank doesn't have a vent screw. Maybe that was the leak issue. Where did you had a leak on your old tank? Thanks
From the bottom it seemed but it's hard to tell without a proper bleed procedure!
Why not siphon out the coolant before you disconnect the hoses?
Do you need to replace the caps as well?
Do you know the part number for that top front gen II expansion tank hose you previously replaced? Mine just started leaking. I replaced my large tank about 4 months ago. The side seam of the tank was leaking. No problems since, until this hose. It leaks at the connection to the tank.

Can you explain what is the difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 tanks? Mine just went out a few days ago (gen 1). Maybe the gen 2 tanks aren’t as susceptible to leaking?
The thickness and the seal compound used to hold the top half together!

You mentioned that you replaced one of the tubes with a hose. Is there a specific hose?
When I look up online for parts the only option I see is the hard tube replacement, that you say is brittle and can break when changing out the reservoir tanks.
That's actually a very good question! When you order the part number they will send you the revised version which is different from what the pictures are showing yet it will still work perfectly fine with your car! Since it's just from a newer yea.

Is the big tank compatible with old small tank? My big tank started leaking at the sensor or tube plug near sensor. Not sure where exactly.
They are 2 different circuits of coolant
Do you have to replace both tanks if just the larger one is leaking? Does the old small tank hook up the same to the new larger tank?
No you don't need to. I changed the little one first a peace of mind

Yes they come pre installed from factory!

I did the mix off camera. Totally forgot to film it. Yes 50/50. Mixed back into the system!

Hey brother! It's most likely the bigger tank. You can change just one but it's best to change both as they are revised!

They said the new bmw with B58 engine have issues with coolant tank and seal … i have a 640i with B58 and 35000miles , everything still good …
