    I didn't consider for one moment that this can wasn't CG - Blender Cycles is that good! Gods, now I gotta learn OpenRL...

    You could use the noise modifier for the animation curve to get some slight camera shake if you want. The sad thing is for a slower or smoother can crush, we'd need to simulate the can (or get a ton more frames and mask them all). But this is a good alternative for this effect.

    Cool. I think a far superior solution would be to render the can in Blender. No rotoscoping necessary and you could levitate, crush, spin etc the can. Just make sure to match the lighting and creating a simple plane as a table for a shadow catcher.

      Creating an HDRI from the room would get a pretty similar lightning environment, which would be great for this scenario.

    There seems some irregular cut when the can is crashing.
    In crushing animation.
    You should have used Maya to crush it parts by parts and then
    Import this model into max, using a modifier to transform it.
    It will be more natural.
    Seriously😶

    Nice tutorial to learn a little rotoscoping, which I've never done before in Blender. But I've got a question here: why do you pull out your can crash clip one frame at the beginning and one at the end, cut it and then stretch it with the speed control applied to it? When I want to add still frames to a clip that is shorter than the footage where it's placed in, I simply pull out the beginning and the end as far as the footage reaches. No need for cutting, adding speed control, setting 'Alpha Over' again... and the result is the same as yours.

      I don't know if there is a special way to do it so that it works... I right-click the beginning or the end of the strip so that the frame number is shown, then I hit G and move the beginning/end where I want to have it.

    Hi Kenan, amazing tutorial!
    Thanks a lot and compliments to your wife because she is very expressive! Is her a professional actress?
    Is there a way in Blender to interpolate the 4 can frames by morphing between them to have a slower and more fluid destruction?

  • @BlitzOfTheReich
    @BlitzOfTheReich 4 роки тому

    This was excellent but I would recommend that you take more pictures with the camera as to make the stop motion a little more fluid. I mean I know this was only a concept video so don't take this comment to heart. :D

  • @liambuffat3731
    @liambuffat3731 6 років тому

    Great Tutorial. I wonder if you could drop something and reverse the frames to look like she is levitating the object. Or start with the object in one area then have it appear in another, sort of a Star Trek effect. It seems the possibilities are endless.

    Why do stop motion and tedious rotoscoping when you have a 3D environment with cloth simulation? You can model a simple can in no time and have it collapse with a cloth modifier :D Tadaaa :D

    my god, this was a hard one, let me save someone there some time, if you want your stopmontion to take a little longer, or have a bit more control over the speed, you will have to import frame by frame (not a sequence), and make a mask for each one, thats i managed to control the speed a little nicer, hope you guys have some fun :)

      @softwarelivre2389 4 роки тому

      @TechnicJelle the reflections don't matter that much in this context, since the footage was already taken fron the same location anyway, so you are probably fine. If it was just a stock photo of a can there, however, you might need to do a little bit of color grading, in order to blend better with the scene.
