I am going to hibernate now, wake me up when its october.
So... in other words.. You want us to wake you up when September ends?
Right! But there is a lot of other good movies till then. -Brian
*WAKE ME UP INSIDE*
Damn you beat me to it!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’ll say it now “Oscar” he is too perfect.
Absolutely! -Brian
He is nominated. I hope he gets it.
I got chills and goosebumps when I saw the trailer. It is so wonderful and great. Joaquin Phoenix really is amazing. :)
Every time I watch the stair scene and hes dancing on them, goosebumps
Yeah, that is maybe the part that I like the most. I really wish that the movie is as good as the trailer. Because it was so good and beautiful.
I get goosebumps when he makes the smile and then lets go making a sad/angry face because I can literally see that in a comic. -Brian
I was with you about the Todd Phillips worry, but then I think, if it's one thing Jordan Peele and John Krasinski have shown us- comedians know how to do horror, *they know how to get **_dark._*
Good comedy writers can usually write anything since writing good humor is one of the hardest things to do.
Jordan Peele is not dark...
@@The80sWolf_ Get Out and Us are not dark??
@@suneeday9576
No, more comedy than scary.
The 80's Wolf lol
Do we need a new Joker again? This question was probably asked by many when the Origin Story by Todd Phillips was announced. But Joaquin Phoenix erases all doubts in the first trailer. I predict an Oscar Nomination Best Actor in a leading Role.
I think that this is going to be a more realistic Joker that is actually going through real life problems. I definitely think the nomination will come. -Brian
Aaaand.... 11 nominations
aaaand a win
People laugh, but they don't understand the sadness and drama of this trailer
This trailer is not a trailer for a "superhero-movie" (or supervillain, but you know what I mean).
This is a really intense drama-thriller, that I think will actually make me teary eyed for the Joker character, something I never thought would happen.
I am SO looking forward to it!
Yeah... pretty tired of watching people giving commentary or talking too much while reacting to this trailer that way they cannot feel the sadness, drama and the creepiness of the trailer.
@@theodrinksman4119 same, my favorite reactions are the ones where they can barely comment bc they're drawn into the tone and story of the trailer. I mean I get some are excited but I want the trailer to be appreciated as it is yknow. at least that's me
I really feel sorry for the joker.. sad
I totally agree with all of you. It is going to be a heartbreaking story that is being told, that is really going to make people think about the Joker in a different way. - Brian
All I needed was the first scene and hearing the laugh and I would have been sold, everything else was a bonus.
Oh absolutely. The laugh is chilling! -Brian
Joaquin Phoenix stated that he wouldn't be in the movie if they planned to make any sequels,so this is a stand-alone,a one time thing.I personally believe it's better that way.
It will definitely be a great standalone, but I have a feeling it is going to leave us wanting more! - Brian
He recently said he'd be up for a sequel
I guess he changed his opinion about that, he actually kind of called the Joker his "dream role"
I didnt think about how the "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" resembles the new Jocker poster. Such a great homage and inspiration...very cool. DC is really killing it with this movie.
I don't think we did either! But now that you say it, that's a great comparison! -Brian
I know greatness when I see it.....This...is greatness....
Dirty 70's New York /Taxi Driver look and The tortured mind of the tragic character of the Joker! Oscar, please.
Kind ov remindz me ov Ted MacKeever's “Enginez” (Batman: Legendz ov dhe Dark Knight #74/75, 1995)
Let's put a smile on that Oscar ~ Joaquin phoenix
Definitely an Oscar contender! -Brian
There’s NO way Joaquin WONT be nominated for this....
Do you think he'll be a better Joker than the late great Heath Ledger?
So far ...
A Masterpiece
Agreed! -Brian
Tim Burton: Ace chemicals creates The Joker. Todd Phillips: Society creates The Joker.
Same toxicity.
TheCinderfang Truth
The original killing joke saw a number of factors contribute to the Joker's creation, the chemicals were just the catalyst.
Everything you all said is so accurate. It's going to be a good one. -Brian
Bob Kane: Jerry Robinson creates Dhe Djoker
Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of this movie. He might not have been that hands on with this project because he was busy with other projects but his influence is obvious
Very much so. Taxi Driver specifically stands out as a prime influence on the film.
Scorcese dropped out. Bradley Cooper is one of the producers.
@@jordand.6755 Oh really? I didn't know. Wow Bradley must be a super secure actor to be so cool producing a movie with Joaquin in a killer very meaty role and not think "Damn it could have been me in that instead" you know.
@@nikitamohan3390 That is because Bradley Cooper knows what a brilliant actor Joaquin Phoenix is and he would never try to get in Phoenix way.
I didn't know that Bradley Cooper was apart of the project! Wow that is awesome! Everything he has been touching seems to be Oscar gold at this point! -Brian
Joaquin Phoenix only agreed to do this one film on the condition that he would only be expected to do one film. Unfortunately.
That is in own word and he could always change his mind whenever he wants. Joaquin is just trying to not get roped into a multi-picture deal with DC for the next 10 years. I'm sure there is one more film in him if the story is great. The sequel can simply be titled "Batman"
He could have been Dr. Strange or the Hulk and he turned down those roles for that very reason. But when you think about it as Dr. Strange or Hulk he was never going to be nominated for an Oscar... He is going to be nominated as the Joker and he is going to win. He may change his mind after that.
Ya it seems like he only wants to do the one, but who knows what the future brings! -Brian
Thats good
Money can change it
Not only is it is going to be rated R, it is going to be a hard rated R
Can you please explain the difference between rated r and hard r?
@@indraj8831 they mean the same thing but hard r just means theres gonna be some messed up shit
@@indraj8831 hard r usually contains more gore violence, disturbing imagery, & for this movie, I'm guessing extreme psychopathic behavior ...
@@indraj8831Hard R is teetering on the edge of NC-17
Hard R is basically NC-17. It will more than likely just be rated R but pretty close to that Hard R rating. -Brian
This is easily my most anticipated film the entire year and it ain’t even close! What Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix are doing with this movie is gonna change the Game for CBM’s!! This looks PHENOMENAL!! Todd Phillips isn’t here to make infinity war or End Game nonsense...he is making a REAL film the likes we haven’t seen in this genre since Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT!!! Take all my money 💰
I have always felt that The Dark Knight Trilogy aren't even comic book movies. They are in a category of their own, and this is going to be another one of those movies. But yes, take all the money! -Brian
I don’t think Joaquin is acting.. he’s crazy naturally and the trailer looks freaking awesome.. he maybe the only one that will surpass Heath Ledger’s Joker performance. I love the back story that Joker is getting. Society creates villains not just a one life event. It looks great and Joaquin Phoenix will get Oscar nominated 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha that is rough to say but you may be right! But I couldn't agree more with everything your saying! -Brian
After Joaquin Phoenix's role as Comodus in Gladiator, I knew he'd make a perfect joker.
One of his all-time great roles and a personal favorite film of mine. Could this performance top it?
@6:00
Kid with Star Wars hat: “Don’t want it to be artistic”
Arthur Fleck: “You don’t listen, do you?”
Can’t believe people are turned off by an actual Oscar playing performance. 🤦♂️
Chills man! This is goin for an Oscar for sure
Couldn't agree more! -Brian
Also Todd Phillips wrote the movie too so thank him for that line we all love
I think he is going to hit this one out of the park. -Brian
Heath Ledger is gone
Jared Leto left
Joaquin Pheonix ARRIVED
Great reaction! Joker seems to be a true character study film. I'm of an opinion that DC "should" stick to deeper, layered character study art house films that don't necessarily have to exist in each others world. This would be truly breaking from any Marvel formula and standing on their own. Kind of like graphic novels put to screen. Different stories. Different takes from different writers and directors. Maybe ( a big maybe) utilizing different actors playing same characters in said stories. This trailer says a lot in the way it's edited. On top of the influence from Taxi Driver and King of Comedy( both Scorsese films) I almost feel there's a nod to the Exorcist as well with that angle of those steps at the beginning of this trailer. As he's waking up the steps, his posture suggests a broken man, hunched over defeated by life and in constant battle with his demons. By the end of the trailer, he's confident and now dancing down the steps! Free and liberated because he's been overtaken by those demons to become who he's meant to be...the clown prince of crime. To top the brilliance of Heath Ledger's portrayal, it's going to take the brilliance of Phoenix to do it and an "entire" film dedicated to the character to pull it off. This is what we potentially have in this film and it looks amazing. As much as I was originally on the fence about this project, I could not be more excited! Oscars...indeed!
Thank you for the awesome comment! It was very well written and hits the nail on the head for the movie!
'JOKER' is too dark...
And i love it!!!
It's going to be perfect!
I always believe in Joaquin phoenix acting skill and his taste of movies, so if he got on board with this project.. it probably is that good.. so yeah finger crossed for Oscar shout out.., first win for Todd Philips probably as a Director. Again I don't think it needs to be trilogy or something more.. just one great movie I think would be enough.
Hopefully (fingers crossed)! I (Jake) don't think it needs to be a trilogy either. Phoenix doesn't seem like a franchise guy, so I'm just expecting one movie where they throw the kitchen sink at us.
@@ApocaflixMovies Definitely agree... just one epic movie, I really need a good movie detox haha.. can't wait for October.
Hard R is already confirmed.
Definitely deserved and needs to be a HARD R! -Brian
4:42 Finally someone who can see that the boy is a younger Bruce Wayne

@@ApocaflixMovies Yes! Of the movie have Thomas Wayne, there will be at least, a boy Bruce Wayne.

Love that star wars beanie
oscar nominated joaquin phoenix!!
100% true
Phoenix doesn't do sequels so dont count on him ever doing joker again. With that being said this movie looks amazing from the teaser I can't wait to see it
I think I'm fine without a sequel! Just give us one great, absolutely bonkers story and I think we'll all be satisfied.
Fitting poster in the background for this trailer.
Definitely is! The poster is awesome! - Brian
This is what makes DC and Batman in particular the best of any major comic book company content for all time. I'm not being biased whatsoever, I enjoy much of what Marvel and Image, Valiant, etc. have to offer, but to me DC is and has always been on top.
Thank you for the awesome reaction and reflection. Smile!
DC has soooooo much more potential then people realize. When they do movies like this, it really shows how truly amazing they are and can be. If they are more dark character driven movies it could be AMAZING!
BEAUTIFUL!!😇😇😇

2:45:"I'm not a huge fan of [Todd Phillips'] directing"
6:40(4 minutes later after a 2 minute teaser trailer):"I really really really like what Todd Phillips is doing from a directing standpoint"
Way better than Jared leto
Different style completely but I think that this is going to be an amazing performance. - Brian
Well at least Leto was better than the last guy that tried... I mean that guy didn't even have the makeup right, since when does The Joker long hair?

It’s got a Taxi Driver/King of Comedy vibe to it. Also, am I out of my mind or is that long staircase we see twice the stairwell from The Exorcist? The stairs where Father Karras leaps to his death.
i know its a real stair case in new york so it is probably the same stair case
Yep same staircase
No the exorcist was a diff staircase but similar. Lot of them in new york
Thats wat i thought.excorsist staircase
I think you might be right! Not 100% sure though. And yes definitely a Taxi Driver vibe. Haven't seen King of Comedy but everyone seems to be saying that as well. -Brian
wake me up when September ends suits perfectly
That scene with him sitting with his back exposed is where he is cutting a ball to make his white rubber skull cap
Interesting! Didn't even think about that!
I first came across the news about the trailer via Instagram and I didn’t really care much for it but said, “what the heck”. By the end of the trailer, my mouth DROPPED. TAKE MY MONEY 💰
I agree!! I didn't really care about the movie, then I saw this trailer!! -Brian
You think theres finally an origin story for joker And then you realize he was joking and the elevator scene was actually the end.
I hope this is a good origin with its own little twist. -Brian
5:57 The word you were looking for is "poetic". This movie is beautiful in so many ways. As a score 10 on the ACE's test a criminologist and a Pshycologist, I can tell you they are sending a message of the importance of mental health. I hope this movie open a door to start an honest conversation about having good mental higine. Other than our feet, out mind is the most neglected part of out body. How does that make sense??
Wow thank you for all that! It definitely is going to be a very real feeling styled comic book movie. And yes mental health is very very important and hopefully this does open some kind of door!
I’m from the future. The box office for this movie is “pretty darn good” to say it lightly :)

That guy in yellow is def a real fan u can tell just by his reaction shit was authentic as fuck, most reaction channels always over reacting and sht
He will def win Best Actor
There is a lot of good competition, but it sure does look to be pointing towards it!

This has the vibe of my favorite movie "Willard" staring Crispin Glover! If u havnt seen it id highly recommend it!
I haven't seen it but I am always open to suggestions! Thank you! -Brian
DCU it's no more now it's called Worlds of DC. I'm really excited about this movie because it's like watching Heath Ledger's joker origen story. Visually it looks and sounds like Guillermo Del Toro's "The shape of water" in that is like watching an old film mix with some film noir influences.
I don't know the specifics name of the genre but I tried to explain myself.
We still say DCEU because lots of people don't call it the Worlds of DC but you are correct. Visually it looks amazing and I can definitely see what your saying in the comparison. - Brian
I would love to see a Joker Franchise but I believe this movie is going to be soo good that nobody will care about the Joker in the Batman movies. I think DC should think about these things before they do them.
That's the thing though. If the movie is so good and successful, they're gonna put him in the DCEU so people will care
A Joker franchise would be pretty cool. I don't think there is a chance he joins the DCEU, especially with Jared Leto still in there. But I agree that DC should think about what they are doing before they do them. Luckily it seems like that is starting to happen. - Brian
If this movie turns out to be as good as we all think it's going to be, will you be able to accept Jared Leto as the Joker? I'm not sure if I will be able to after this movie.
The guy on the right looks like Gange from the Howard Stern show.
I think it is going to be GREAT
I think your right! -Brian
This is a crime movie with joker influence.
I get a Falling Down meets Taxi Driver meets A Clockwork Orange vibe from this trailer. If the movie itself is a flop, the trailer alone is Oscar worthy.
Hahaha couldn’t agree more with you about the trailer. And yes we do get a taste of all those movies in the trailer.
The boy that the Joker forces a smile on..is Bruce Wayne.
Jake and silent bob
NO! Not "inside the mind of a psychopath", this should be the breaking of a dude with problems to create the ULTIMATE psychopath. I hope it surpasses "Falling Down" (michael douglas film) in showing the build up to a snap of even greater significance. I tear up for a trailer I don't think I should even be tearing up for, this trailer is fucking amazing. They are going to have to walk a weird line so that the audience doesn't sympathize with him to much......cause it's the Joker. The greatest villain in all comic books. (I'm a marvel fan boy long before the movies too, Batman ALWAYS had the greatest villains and Joker is always the #1) No powers either, just so crazy it's not quantifiable.
I'm super hyped for this movie.
That is more accurate. It seems like it’s going to be more along the lines of what the world does to someone to break them to a point where they lose their minds.
You hit the mark on a Scorsese film tonal feel, Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy come to mind, but I think it's going to pull from Batman: A Killing Joke, and young Bruce Wayne is who he tries to make a smiley face on with the kid. Falling Down as a movie wasn't bad but it has hints of that too. His mother stuff might be nods to Hitchcock's Psycho. Charlie Chaplin wrote the song they use for this trailer as well.
I am like, take my money now WB/DC!
This movie is going to be like art. A mix of old films, mashing it together, to make a fantastic new spin on a classic character!
This is going to be a HARD R rating due to extreme violence.
Just a thought, but after seeing the trailer several times and reactions/reviews. I see this being and Arkham Asylum origin movie.
First you see Arkham State Hospital, Dr Thomas Wayne says Gotham is losing it's way. You see Joker's decent into madness.
Joker is declared criminally insane and the hospital become an asylum. This leaves the story open for other stand alone movies on how different Batman Villains end up in the asylum.
I can see that. Although it may be a lot especially if it is only a standalone movie. But if it spun off into other things like that, it would be crazy. -Brian
Jay and Silent Bob is that you guys?
That cracked me up. -Brian
6:05 I think Scorsese's only "involvement" is by being the director of the 2 movies that influences this. One of those movies sucks but had a great premise (The King of Comedy) the other had a flawed premise but was a great movie (Taxi Driver).
When it comes to The King of Comedy, I dig that approach- remaking a bad movie with promise that was never realized, as opposed to remaking movies that people already enjoyed which is what Disney is doing.
I haven't seen The King of Comedy but I have seen Taxi Driver and the similarities and influence of his involvement are definitely there. - Brian
U can take you're Hobbs and shaw's and you're Aladdin's I'll take this
Bring back Leto and release Ayers darker SS cut

i hope this joker is like the one from the killing joke
It seems like the same style of Joker. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how he acts by the end. - Brian
Wow, 3 minutes in before you start the reaction. For a trailer, lol.
Let's just say if this movie flops. we all know that these type of things happen. But regardless this movie is going to make a ridiculous amount of money based the fact that this movie is going to be based around the Joker. Which is the best villain of all time. Or at least one of the greatest.
I hope it makes a lot of money! If it doesn’t, it’s because of its R-rating. But luckily it has Deadpool on its side, which made a butt load.
Its Rated R
"Acting" in a hollywood movie is rare, but when it's there, you don't need CGI.
100% true
I have heard a lot of talk of DC doing the flashpoint story in the Flash
movie, maybe if this movie is as good as it seems from the trailer we
could make this be a part of that continuity. If they were looking for
an in into the wider universe. Just a thought, am I the only who who
thinks that could work? Let me know what you guys think.
We have heard that that is one DC's horizon, but I don't think Phoenix has any interest in anything other that doing this one movie. It would definitely be an interesting concept for sure especially in the universe of movies!
Willem DaFoe should play an older version of this Joker
OMG such a good idea. But his Green Goblin is iconic! - Brian
Joaquin said turned down Dr Strange and the Hulk cause he didn't one get caught up in commitments with the same role. But I'd like to see a live action Killing Joke type w/ maybe Jeremy Davies playing the role.. that would be really interesting, dark, twisted and cool as well.
Joaquin Phoenix could do a live action Killing Joke. He has proven himself to be a solid actor time and again and this trailer itself showed he nailed the part and completely got into the skin of the Joker. If this movie is a success I am sure DC will try their level best to get him on for sequels but not sure whether he will do it or not.
@@nikitamohan3390 I highly doubt it. He made it clear this is a one and done deal. he doesn't do sequels.
@@ryant3600 If the script and money is good enough anything is possible. But playing a live action Killing Joke is too delicious an offer to pass up. And just so we are clear I am just talking about 1 or 2 sequels to this Joker movie not the DCU universe
@@nikitamohan3390 The only reason Joaquin signed on was cause they agreed to a one time deal. Joaquin is the kind of actor that once he explores a character and puts it on film, he's done and ready to move on. He could care less about the money. They could offer him something crazy and he'll turn it down. I wish he'd give us more than just one, but he's not that kind of actor.
@@ryant3600 Well if this movie does well and with the audience's encouragement and support I hope something in the universe can change his mind but I get your point

Like everybody says it feels much like Taxi Driver and King of Comedy.. but for me also there is a bit of "Assassination of Richard Nixon" vibe in it. Always failing in real life and then going of the rails.
I've seen Taxi Driver but not the other two. I can definitely see the Taxi Driver influence. I'll have to check out the other two and see. But I agree with your last sentence. It fits perfectly into it. - Brian
@@ApocaflixMovies "Assassination of Richard Nixon" may only be similar for me but it has Sean Penn playing a guy in the 70s who just cant get ahead in life and more or less Fails with every step and then his kinda decent from there on. LIke the title says.

This is CREEPIEST Joker that I have ever seen.
It’s going to be an amazing performance that we cannot wait to see!
How did you understand that boy was Bruce Wayne?
Part one, joker. Movie 2, when he meets Batman. Part 3 could be based off off the death of the family graphic novel(have him kill Batman’s partners, torture Gordon and barbs like he did and have it end like the killing joke animated movie did, pan away and have joker die off screen
That would be absolutely amazing but I just don't see Phoenix coming back after this. -Brian

Great reaction and discussion. I will say that Bo Rhap was mediocre and Rami Malek still won Best Actor over some big known names. If anything, glad to see DC staying faithful with its darker character adaptations (at least for the time being).
