Awesome video! Absolutely love the roar of that motor & acceleration sound! Has got to be a Cummins engine. This is quite an old truck especially with the "ribbed" Heil Formula body. Funny thing is with these packer bodies is you had to dump carts until the hopper was full & then cycle the compactor. The compaction blade doesn't have multiple "follower" panels so you couldn't dump carts with the blade in motion or dump carts as blade cycled or on top of the blade, lol. Really a batch-feed automated side loader. But still innovative for the time. I worked at a Waste Management shop in the mid 90's & they had a beautiful then new Heil Formula 7000 automated side loader with a big 33 cubic yard body on a big tandem axle White/GMC chassis.
That is correct, they took it over a few years ago (it was actually in negotiations at the time I filmed this video). They run automizers there now and maybe a durapack 7000 for commercial still
