I once found a note in my quarter pounder. It said, “Will this make any difference?”. Oddly it wasn’t the most amount of existential dread I’d ever felt in a Maccas.

That's similar to the Hot Coffee case where an old woman bought a coffee at Mikky D's and spilt it on herself in a similar way to yours, except the coffee was boiling hot and she had some nasty burns. She sued Mikky D's and the media made a clown out of her, because spilling a little hot coffee on yourself is normal and normally doesn't do much, but the coffee was so hot that it caused second or third degree burns, which is a fact that the media left out.
