how the joystick latency input? on the steam deck it doesn't feel smooth as it was lagging. I tried halo and apex and I wasn't happy with it. How does this perform compare to steam deck in apex specifically

It does indeed support AV1.
If you want way longer battery life, limit fps to 30/60, lower resolution to 720 and lower graphics.
Because you're gaming on a small screen, you barely notice the graphics drop. For example, the nintendo 3DS always looked great on it's tiny 3.5inch display, but seeing it on my 24 inch display looks horrendous. The same will apply here. You can easily get away with 720p and low/medium graphics and it'll still look good. Limit the fps to 60 and you'll easily be looking at 3+ hours of gaming. If you'd limit your fps to 30 it will last even longer, but it all depends if you're ok with 30fps.
If i ever get the rog ally I’m literally just gonna be playing 720p for over 60fps gaming I don’t see a need to use 1080p

idk. kinda disappointed because I own a Zeph m 16 ( 2 thousand dollar laptop)... I feel like I wasted 2k, had I of just bought the steam deck I would of saved a a lot of money because a year later and I'm selling the laptop and re-doing my entire home set up to accommodate handhelds instead of a laptop or gaming tower... My steam deck plays games at the same refresh rates, plays all the same games, connects to all of my set up accessories just like any PC would, but with just one cord, instead of 6. It looks cleaner too. I honestly think with this new trend, built gaming PC's will eventually fade away. laptops for sure.. you can do anything on it.. play a game, make a resume, write code even, literally anything you can do with a PC... I'm bout to buy the Ally too, and run both, rog for AAA, movies & TV, deck for steam games and emulation.

at least you can get more fps in apex compared to ps5

Yes but not everyone lives in a mansion. Some people have limited space. So being able to play on the couch or anywhere you want near an outlet is a huge plus. I ordered 2 of these ❤❤❤

Portable gaming is NOT the future of gaming. Consoles are MUCH more powerful. There is a reason why consoles require such a large heatsink. It speaks for itself.
