I had my cataract surgery three years ago, one eye at a time. I can see without prescription glasses, and only need glasses for reading. It was amazing
I had my first cataract removal surgery on April 7th, and had already been diagnosed with dry eye syndrome. My left eye was drier after surgery and I just had to use my wetting drops a few times per day. I had astigmatism and a TORIC lens implant was used to correct the astigmatism. My eyesight in Left eye is 20/20 now. I can read regular print. I’m hoping my Right eye surgery which is in 2 days is just as good.I have worn glasses since age 3. Imagine not having to wear glasses after wearing them for 62 years! I’m excited for surgery on Thursday, the 21st of April, 2022.
I had my cataract surgery back in my 50s. I will soon be 81. It took several visits before the doctor was able to get all the info needed. I opted to get normal close vision as I was an avid reader and an engineer working on both drawings and computers. The first surgery used a hard plastic lens and was done only numbing the eye. It was described to me as it was done … fascinating! The second was a foldable plastic lens that had 3 metal tabs to lock it in place. Unfortunately, this meant that I can never have an MRI. I appreciate everything you commented on and was surprised that my doctor and I discussed nearly all those items back in the day.
It is now Oct 2024. I am 75 years old. I recently had my Retina detachment corrected, but now my eye for distance is getting blurry - up close is much better. Thank you for all these tips to know before my cataract surgery. Going in to see the Doctor tomorrow to get checked and prepared for measurements visit and see what condition my one eye is in. I will see what the Doctor has to say and is nice to know these videos exist on You Tube to know what to ask the Doctor. Thanks for the video. Take care.
I had both eyes done, a month apart, 2 years ago. went from 20 -300 in my good eye to 20 30 in both..... shoulda done this in jr high, maybe I coulda played ball. science is amazing.
i have dry eye disease and i was SO happy my eye doc is fixing it for me during surgery.... i wish I knew they could do this years ago... it's such a big problem. yea.. thanks for sharing these tips. it helps everyone do better for success. Insurance needs to start paying up for those who need better lens. its so unfair for people who can not afford lenses that can give you better eye site than standards that will NOT give someone better vision. that part when it comes to someones vision is terrible. Insurance does not pay for a BETTER eye site. sad cause vision is priceless i know. however so many can not afford to finance it or and lots of reasons why they can not come up with an additional 4-5 grand out of pocket. so many who go through this because they can not pay MORE out of pocket.
I was scared to get both eyes done at one time, so I only did the worst one first. Ones in the room the procedure took 10 minutes and recovery was immediate. I was so sad I didn’t do both at the same time but then Covid hit and it took me two years to go back. Got the second eye done. Everything went great. Couldn’t be happier
I have keratoconus and bad dry eye in both eyes and was very short sighted. I had cataracts on the back surface of both lenses. The surgeon put me on a number of eyedrops for a couple of weeks before surgery to settle things down. I then had the worst eye done first and the other two weeks later using toric lenses. My distance vision is now better than I've had for 40 years, even with glasses. I can also manage most up close tasks and wear glasses only for fine work. My biggest problem now is remembering I'm no longer short sighted. Lol
I had cataract surgery on my right eye I am beyond blessed because I now have 20/20 vision. I could not see the guide on my tv without walking up close. Night glare was terrible. Street lights had a rainbow circle around each. There was no pain at all with the surgery. I will have left eye next week. You won’t believe how bright everything looks. Yeah!
I had my cataracts removed about three years ago. I went into the surgery with a -15 diagnosis. The surgeon gave me an option you did not mention. I could have one eye corrected for distance viewing and the other for reading. I actually chose to have both done for distance. The surgeon was most meticulous about the calculations and had his staff assess the data three times before he was satisfied with the recommendation. He chose to do the operations two weeks apart. I was absolutely blown away when the bandage was removed from the first eye and I could read the very bottom line of the eye chart without assistance! The second operation produced the same result! According to the surgeon the result is I have vision equal to the top four percent in Australia. Three years later I can still read the bottom line. I have had no complications but yes I do need reading glasses. Let me tell you it makes a great deal of difference to your driving confidence particularly at night and I can now be sure whether the speed sign indicates 30,60 or 80 before I actually drive past it! Best thing I ever did (Also allows me to see a tennis ball before it gets to the net when playing tennis!)
I'm -15 as well though from being premature. Why did you end up with that script, though I only have sight in 1 eye so a little more risk when I get the surgery in a few months
Donald Wood: I sure would be grateful if you share what precataract surgery testing/measurements were done if you have the Names of tests/measurements of what all your Dr did. I recently went to an ophthalmologist in Maryland who did what I consider a TON of tests, some of which were hard to endure. One, I was looking into some device that shown Bright Light into my eye (one at a time) and Dr kept saying, "Don't blink/don't move" I've always understood that one should never look at the sun and always were UV lenses when out in the sun. These tests, several of which seemed redundant, took 2+ hours to perform. I got to wondering if the tests were Damaging my eyes and still worry that could have happened. Thanks
I haven't had my surgery yet , but you have cleared up, so many things for me. You're God sent and thank you so much for guidance. You are the greatest. God Bless you
I had my cataract done a few weeks ago. I heard the doctor say, “OK!” I thought he meant he was ready to start, when in fact he meant he was finished with the operation. The operation in itself took about two minutes, I calculate. Easy!
I had one about 5or 7years back, i had to have stitches, i was in pain for a year, the gp was sending me to specialists couldn't find a thing wrong, finally the Last specialist said my eye was all raw at the back of my eye, he then said he couldn't help but it had to heal by itself and if it didn't i would need another operation. It was a nightmare most people don't have a problem.this was in Perth Western Australia
I had my cataracs removed last fall, 4 weeks apart. I was terrified until after my first was done and I couldn't wait to get the second one done. I can see so much better. I have glasses but I only need them at dark or when it is raining. My doctor put lens in where I don't have a problem reading. But I still see better all around. Love my doctor.
I've had cataract surgery on my right eye, and it was a piece of cake! I don't remember a thing! 2 cataracts were removed. I could see perfectly with this eye for a couple of months, then the shape of my eye changed making me have astigmatism. As soon as I get my other eye done, I can get get one contact lens to address the astigmatism, or reading glasses to address that issues and the ability to read.
Just had cataract surgery on both eyes. I also have dry eyes. The results are astounding! Dry eyes are better and I can see without glasses. Best thing I ever did.
From Australia Thankyou for letting people know about 6 Tips for your Eye Surgery.I am 71 and i had left Eye Cateract Surgery 2 weeks ago last Thusday 11/11/21.Only needed it in 1 left eye.I was awake only slight Anasetic and did not feel a thing.First time ever.I had an eye shield on and had to wear it at night for a week in case i scrached my eye.Had 2 Lots of Drops to put in 1 drop each 4 times a day and after Surgery next day had to go to Specsavers to make sure pressure etc was O.K.Went back to Eye Specialist after 2 weeks and have to continue using only 1 lot of Antibiotic Drops 3 times a day etc until 1 drop a day before i see him in Jan22.I have Glasses for Reading and Writting and Driving Distance Glasses which are a nice tint on your eyes. After 2 weeks i was allowed to Drive. As next March had my License for 54 years. My eye is quite good and probably have to change for new Glasses. But he said still a little way to go.He put Acrylic Lense in.He did a Great Job and was not Scared. As only Operation i have had is a Neck Fusion thru my Work ,Doing a lot of Phone Work. The Nurses were Lovely to me.Stayed at my Daughters place for a week and then went home.I would recommend to have Cateract Surgery. 😇🦋
Frim Cape Town. Had the same as you. Surgeon was great; all explained as here and follow-up was 100%. Can now do crosswords in newspaper without extra bright light. Bliss
I just had Catract Surgery on June 4th 2020 on the right eye and on June 18th 2024 2 wks later I had the left eye done and iam here to tell you I can see things are so BRIGHT and BEAUTIFUL. I dont have to wear glasses anymore, I use to wear glases with BIFOCALS, But not any more. It is a MIRACLE! I do feel funny without my glasses when i have worn them all my life! But i do need glasses to read. I will be getting glasses to read! I can see i often ask people is this how people really see! Omg! I am so excited!
When I had cataract surgery scheduled, I was scared to death. A former eye doctor warned me about early laser surgery: if it done wrong it is nearly impossible to correct. My surgeon explained everything as he performed the surgery and it was painless. I now do not need glasses anymore but I still use them. Do not be afraid on cataract surgery!
Was terrified as I have never been in the hospital, had surgery of any kind. Had a good friend who was she certified medical assista, she went with me each time & showed me that there wasn't anything to fear. Had 1st one done 02/27/23 & 2nd on r done 02/24 23. Best thing I everd did. Had a wonderful Dr & his staff in the office & at the surgery center were Wonderful.
I took my dad for his surgery about 10 years ago he was in his 80s. He said it was a miracle surgery and told me to get it done! I laughed and said I don’t have cataracts. Well, now I do, I’m not even 60 but am looking forward to not having to wear glasses or contacts. I won’t mind reading glasses if I have to.
Just had surgery 4/26. I was nervous..scalpel & eyeball don't sound good together to me! My Dr assured me I would feel nothing. Easiest surgery I've ever had!!! I was aware, but didn't care. Don't recall them putting the lid retractors in place. Felt something cool flood over my eye a couple times, saw colors, then heard "we're done." They sat the head of the bed up, gave me water, got me up in a wheelchair & wheeled me out. No nausea, no pain..2 weeks later, I am fine & dandy! Ask your Dr at the next visit if he can show you a sample lens...surprisingly tiny!
I'd be grateful to learn what tests/measurements you had pre cataract surgery as I have to get this eventually and believe some ophthalmologist go overboard on what is appropriate test/measurements and I just do not wish to be subjected to unnecessary med bills or testing that can perhaps do damage or diminish my eye health. Thanks
To be honest, I don't know what all they measured. But, I figure I only have 2 eyes, so do what you must. They found that I also have a macular pucker..too much to explain, but for now, I'm leaving that alone. I know there was refracting, not covered by my insurance...about $300 in office for things not covered, & I had to go in right B4 surgery for measurements so they knew what lens to use. They also checked eye pressure before surgery, the day after, & a week after. The post op visits were all covered in the original cost/billing to insurance. My insurance also has a $1200 ambulatory copay when I go to an outpatient surgery center. That sucked, but not Dr's fault. Still worth it for how well I can see now. Will have the other eye done when needed, but satisfied for now. Regardless of cost, please be at ease...I was pretty freaked out & I felt silly afterwards...nothing to it, really. Best wishes!
Greetings from Colorado! I just discovered you today. I've had two cataract surgeries within the past month, and I'm amazed at how much my vision has improved! I had one excellent optometrist for 33 years, but then he decided to retire. He had mentioned that I had cataracts starting already. So I decided to find an excellent ophthalmologist to be my regular eye doctor, and I found one. So when the time came for surgery, he already knew all about my eyes. The actual surgery was amazingly easy. I had not realized how bad my vision had become over the years. And all the colors I can see now! I am so thankful! And thank you so much for the great information you share! I wish I had seen it before my surgeries. Take care!
I'm going soon for cataract surgery and I'm TERRIFIED, I must admit. But reading your comment and sharing your results makes me wish it were happening tomorrow. How exciting that if all goes well, I'll be able to see!!! Thanks from BC Canada!
My optometrist wants to do cataract surgery and I am scared witless of the whole thing. This video helps me understand the prep process so I know at least some questions I should be asking. Thanks a bunch
Do not be afraid. I just had the surgery myself. Just be sure to address your fears to your doctor beforehand. He/she will do everything possible to make sure you’re comfortable. Both of my surgeries were completely painless and totally successful. I didn’t feel a thing either time. I’m seeing better than ever. Do not put it off. You’ll be glad you did it. Best of luck to you, and DON’T WORRY!
I had Angle Closed Glaucoma and the only option was to have cataract surgery on both eyes so the dr could "reroute the drain". I was told if the angle closed completely I would have been blind. It was the easiest surgery I have ever had.
I wish you were my doctor! Your knowledgeable, extremely clear, professionally presented information and prevention, have guided me in my personal preparation for the coming cataract surgery. Your tips have been priceless ! Keep your optimistic spirit and powerful professional vision. With gratitude KKatz
Wow....very informative! At 71 and no major issues of yet, I'm going to take better care of my eyes now, so that I can hopefully avoid any possible issues in the future! Thanks Doc.
I had cataract surgery for both eyes at age 39. Almost 27 yrs later, I have never had a problem, except YAG laser surgery to treat secondary cataracts on the capsular bags months later.
I did everything the Doctors said and my Cataract Operation has been 100% successful !!!! It was 10 years ago that I had the Operation on my left eye !!! I am 68 yrs old and now I can still read the bottom line on the Chart with both eyes, and not wearing glasses, which I only use for Reading !!!! The one thing I did was to get a pair of armoured safety glasses, which are used on Bench Drills and Grinders !!!! They have air holes to ventilate and they won't fall off !!!! And they are comfortable in bed !!!! I don't need glasses to drive etc !!!! I was practically blind in my left eye, with foggy out of focus vision. Now when I look at stars at night with each eye they look like Pin Points of light !!!! But I know a lot of people who messed up their operation !!!! One woman would not wear a guard over her eye, and she bumped her eye and the lens moved. Another woman would not use her eyedrops and got an eye infection !!!! And a man went to work the next day as a street cleaner and got dirt in his eye, and his lens moved when he lifted his street cleaning bin up on to the Pavement !!!! Some people really are Daft !!!!
Thank you for your very clear explanation. I'm having my first surgery in four days and this video is helpful for getting ready. Fellow Canadian, from Edmonton
This information is awesome in hindsight! How I wish I had known it was so important before cataract surgery! My aftercare results were greatly affected by not knowing these tips.
I wish I'd known too, I knew I had dry eye, and so did they but nothing ,like this was mentioned. Am I sorry YES both eyes are so uncomfortable, I'm thinking of suing.
Thank you for all the information prior to a cataract op. I have knew nothing of this now l am well informed. I m 74 and will be making an appointment for op soon. Greetings from Malaysia.
I am 76yrs old and I will be having cataract surgery in a few weeks from now so I'm thankful for some advice to know what would happen, because some people told me about some caution after surgery.
Your explanation to cataract surgery. I had an eye just like you. His explanation was in depth, however my cataract was no ready when I saw hi and I will be having surgery around the first of 2022.
I am diabetic number 2 and having cataract surgery on both eye but they will do my right eye surgery which is my good eye then after couple weeks will have surgery on the left eye which is the worth one!!!
I went to my first appointment with my surgeon. I told him that I was doing the dry eye drops 3X per day, and using eye lid wipes twice a day, to prep for my surgeries. He shocked me by not seeming to know or care about what I was talking about. I cancelled the follow-up appointment, and found another surgeon. 😷
I am not actually suprised by this. Many surgeonos don;t spend time educcating on this....you are more likely to hear it from your referring optometrist. The surgeons that are more concerned about your final refractive outcome are more likely to mention it.
@@GoodOptometryMorning I have been to 3 eye surgeons to get measured for cataracts/IOL implants, and not one of them mentioned ANY of your suggestions! And one of those had operated on me for my cornea (dry eye-connected?) and I also told all of them I'd had a retinal tear many years ago. All of them simply tried to sell me premium lenses (though my referring optometrist had told me that, in her opinion, the premium lenses are not ready for "prime time") so I was very disappointed, as that's what I want (non-premium lenses.)
After cataract surgeries in Jan 2020, I was diagnosed with double vision. I assumed it was a result of the surgery but the double vision specialist told me I had a superior oblique (or fourth optical nerve) palsy which brought on the double vision. We tried prism decals in my progressives, but that affected my reading, so had to also use reading glasses. Another specialist said he could do a surgery to relax the eye muscle but i decided to first try new progressives with a stronger reading portion and a decal over that portion to negate the prism at the bottom. We’ll see if that works. I had dry eyes and blepharitis before surgery but it was not discussed prior to surgery. I was just using Natural tear drops and cleaning with baby shampoo. Such an ongoing ordeal...wish I had waited longer to have the cataracts removed. I’m 71 but can no longer read for enjoyment, eyes strain and feel tired and achy.
I just discovered this video. It was very informative and I thank you very much for stating all of these things that we should think about. Your video was very clear, organized, and easy to understand. Thank you!
This video has convinced me to cancel my cataract operation and seek a more natural and less invasive solution. Improving my diet, Reducing insulin. Keto. Intermittant fasting and Castor oil drops.
@@GoodOptometryMorning Rubbish. Not once did you mention any alternative. Diet for example. How the liver effects the eyes......all you guys are interested in is making thousands of dollars every operation. Replacing the natural lens with a piece of plastic? Presumably requiring a life time of anti-rejection drugs making even more billions for your bosses, Big Pharma.
@@swinderby There is not any other option that treats cataracts other than surgery There are things people can do to reduce the risk of developing cataracts....avoid UV light throughout your lifetime, healthy lifestyle...but once these have develped cataracts there is nothing that reverses cataracts. The acrylic lens is inert so there is no risk for rejection and no antirejection drugs.
@@swinderby I agree with you about the diet making a difference I'm almost 78 and just now have the beginnings of cataracts. I've been eating carnivore for about 8 years. One of my eyes actually got better since ce myadt exam.
Oops. Didn't finish it. Anyway I decided to wait and see if I could do without the surgery because my diet has healed so many things in my body. I'll have my eyes checked in 2 more years and go from there.
I also has glaucoma n little cataract on right 20/20 no cloudy Cataract on left eye has surgery n vein occulision due to burst of high blood pressure in 2009 but when doctor office my left can not see middle dark but now in bed I can see not cloudy, why?
Very informative. Had both eyes done for cataract and doc. never mentioned some of this. It all worked out well anyway. Very easy. Was extremely nearsighted since age 11. Five years later still close to 20/20. I do have to use reading glasses for very teeny, tiny print but not computer. But that is inevitable with old age anyway, as before when I was wearing contact lenses, I began to need glasses to read up close. One "side effect" that was very prominent is that colors really pop now, especially blues which are beautifully vivid. Didn't realize how bad it was until after I had the first eye done.
Hope you see this message before Monday! Thank you for your presentation, I am a diabetic also suffer with dry eyes, I had surgery on the left eye before the second lockdown in England, the surgeon I had was great he made me feel relaxed and explained that I have a stigmatism and I have large eyes, just to say I am due to have the second One done but am now worried because over the passed few week I found the dry eye is getting worse especially first thing in the morning. I am due for surgery at 7:30am Monday, I have wanted this op for a long time as wearing glasses is giving me a lot of problems with one eye done and the other to be done I am straining to see the computer and to read. I have tried Viscotrear and they don’t seem to work, I feel I am going to cancel as it maybe best for me in the long term.
talk to the surgeon before canceling, they many have a prescription medication that can be used, I had to have both eyes done and know from experience you don't want to leave the other undone any longer than you have to.
I keep on watching YOUR VLOGS, because I am going to have an appt. Next month for CATARACT SURGERY. THANK YOU SO MUCH, IT'S WORTH WATCHING AND LEARNING.
Just came across your tips. I have Birdshot Chorioretanopathy and the side effects of my medication caused cataract problems. My Opthamologist has now recommended doing the surgery. He wasn't that worried when his prescription dosage was too high and wasn't listening to me. My cataract problem has gotten worse but I have refused an operation because I don't trust him. Thank you for explaining things my Opthamologist hasn't even mentioned.
Hello, I had an operation 15 days ago on right eye. I do not see clearly. Can it be undone? Also the surgeon wants to do the left eye. I refuse. She said I will go blind. I thought my first step is to talk to the optometrist who prescribed the operation. Right? Thank you
After my post, l did have my cataract surgery because l wasn't able to do everyday things because of my vision. Had both eyes done at the same time. Success for my vision returning to what it was before the start of Birdshot treatment. I religiously did the post-op drops and avoided getting soap & shampoo in my eyes. My near-sightedness has reverted to far-sightedness, corrected with reading glasses. So all good. Information is paramount, so gleen as much as you can before doing the op and post op, of course, follow instructions to the T!
I wish my eye Dr had given me the information about my dry eye condition care and skin cleaning that you informed us on your video. I did not know about the prescription choices with cataract surgery I had in Brantford,Ontario hospital.
Dear Dr. Michael Nelson, I’ve learned so much about the human eye through your youtube channel. I’m currently waiting on my cataract surgery and my choice has fallen on the EDOF Alcon Vivity Lens. In my search for information, this UA-cam channel has helped me a lot. Thank you so much for that. Sincerely, Richard
26 YO female with congenital cataracts due to prematurity. Myopia and ROP. The myopia is really bad, high negative numbers. I’m trying contacta now and they’re awesome 😀
I’ve been severely nearsighted all my life. Now at 68 I’ve had my right eye done and it is amazing. I can actually see! In a week I’ll be having my left eye done but I’m told I have a macular hole so I should not expect as good a result. I’ve read some about the procedure to repair the hole and I’m wondering if it is worthy what I would be going through to heal. What if I don’t do anything?
Loved your video was excellent! Getting cataract surgery one month from now and then the following month getting the other eye done one at a time. I’ve been type one diabetic 42 years 25 years on an insulin pump I’ve had it thorough screening of both eyes in preparation for the cataract surgery your tips were extremely helpful. So far no diabetic retinopathy. But I realize the most important thing is control of blood sugars to promote the healing process. Thank you very much have a blessed day.
Thank you for all your information is really help me alot... cos I'm going to have surgery tomorrow...so God help me to see your video to know better before n after surgery.Thank you so much God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
I had sucessful (so far) laser surgery for both eyes, one week apart in Oct. 2021. Used drops 2 days prior and one month after surgery. Doctor was adamant about not getting soap or water in my eyes. That was the hardest thing for me and it sounds silly. I don't have the greatest balance and standing in the shower trying to wash my hair with one hand while protecting my eyes with the other was almost dangerous. Finally went to my hairdresser and had a proper shampoo and my hair cut short. I have my last appt. with eye doctor Dec 23. Then I will see my optometrist re: prescription changes. I got drugstore reading glasses that help a lot but I can never find them! Looking forward to getting my bifocals back. I opted not to get prescription lenses at surgery. Don't be afraid! The procedure was painless and quick. Excellent treatment before and after. The brightness was a shock at first. Just go for ir!
Great video. I have cataracts, Fuch's, and dry eyes. I put warm wash clothes and try to drain the eyelash glands. The surgeon did not mention any of these things.
I had mine done yesteday. Surgery itself was not painful and was about 20 mins if not less. I was given eye drops few times, then had surgery and felt nothing. After about 2 hrs, eye felt gritty and teary but following day im fine. My other eye will be done in 8wks 🙏
Thank you for this advice . I haven't had my cataract surgery yet, but I think I'll have to schedule soon, I'm having trouble reading. I'm afraid , anxious, & , scared .
Having had radial keratotomy in 1994., I have a whole set of other scary things Going on with my eyes. I am consulting with a cataract surgeon tomorrow. My former surgeon had not done cataract surgery on a person who had RK and although she was willing to try, I found someone who has more experience and hoping for the best!
Thank you for this video. I am having a cataract surgery in April and did not know about these issues. I will speak to my ophthalmologist first thing in the morning.
My husband had cataract surgery on both eyes a day apart. His ability to read from a distance improved greatly but he complains that there is a constant glare….like a halo. Any comments from the doctor would be appreciated.
I’m going to have cataract surgery as soon as I’m healed from shingles in the eye. I have a plug in my eye now to help with dry eye. This video was informative. Thank you.
Hi...your positive comments are good for my soul. I am 49 and have cataracts in both eyes. I extra got a private health insurance .12 month waiting periode. So by next year I can see.
private health ins and you have a year to wait? i'm on the uk's nhs list, so not costing anything, i was at eye clinic yesterday as type 1 diabetic as well, & later that day a call from the western eye hospital in london asking me to come in thursday for pre-op & surgery happens next friday on left eye. now that's an expedited service for you.
I have always had dry eyes and could never wear contacts. At age 68 I was given drops which burn for glaucoma. Soon after I started developing cataracts. I noticed that they looked like calluses on my eyes and asked my doc if they could be caused by my lids rubbing on my dry eyes. He said no. I have to buy the saline with no preservatives for my dry eye so that the drops don’t burn. They come in separate vials and it’s a ridiculous $18 a box for about 1/2 oz of salt water. So I asked my doctor what the effect of preservatives in Lumigan is on living cells like my eyeballs and he had no answer. But my annoyingly logical brain is telling me the unnecessary preservatives our bodies come in contact with all day in soaps and foods and medications are killing cells……..?
Thank you again, dear good Doctor. This is your second video I’m watching since I accidentally found your channel an hour ago. Great info and people’s comments are also very helpful.
Since I was used to wearing contacts as "mono-vision" (one lens close focus, one lens far focused) I easily transitioned to cataract inter ocular lens implants. I never need glasses for distance or close up. My vision is the best it has ever been. Our doctor would not do this for my husband as he had never worn contacts or been acclimated to mono-vision. He keeps readers with him everywhere.
Thanks Doc, for your amazing facts 👌 I needed to know as I will be going for my surgery next month first week, this video helped me to understand the medical terms. Now I feel I am mentally and physically prepared for a surgery 👌👍🙏 God bless you in abundance for your guidance and advice 👍🙏
I had catract surgery a month ago. WOW what a change. My vision is so much clearer.
I had my cataract surgery three years ago, one eye at a time. I can see without prescription glasses, and only need glasses for reading. It was amazing
What do you do to see your car's instrument panel?? I'm concerned about that
@@iloveTRUMPI would think that the car instrument panel is far enough away to not be a problem. 🤷♂️
Thanks
I had surgery and my eye has on and of blurring but i can see much better.
Hi hope everything went well.. how’s your eyes feeling now after surgery.
Thanks, how did second Cataract come out,& other Reports? ( I am due soon, ?).
Cathi Coonfield, how did the Right eye surgery work out for you?
Thanks to ALL who posted their positive surgery experience!! I am SO nervous but your comments really helped! ❤ ❤❤❤
Don't be nervous, it was a quick, easy procedure!!!
I was super nervous but it’s super fast and you’ll be loving being able to see clear again.
i have dry eye disease and i was SO happy my eye doc is fixing it for me during surgery.... i wish I knew they could do this years ago... it's such a big problem. yea.. thanks for sharing these tips. it helps everyone do better for success.
Can a person with dry macular degeneration benefit from cataract surgery
Lol
I had cataract surgery on my right eye
I am beyond blessed because I now have 20/20 vision. I could not see the guide on my tv without walking up close. Night glare was terrible. Street lights had a rainbow circle around each. There was no pain at all with the surgery. I will have left eye next week. You won’t believe how bright everything looks. Yeah!
I'm getting my right eye done tomorrow and the left two weeks later.
thanks for sharing
let us know how things go
Just had my left eye done first ❤ amazing eye sight
Same thing, can't read the channel guide. My cataract surgery is in 3 days. 🤞
I had both eyes done in July, two weeks apart, what an amazing difference!!!
Progressive myopia from about twelve years old to seventy two. Since my operation my wife has also had her cataracts removed with similar success.
@@donaldwood9613 can I ask who did your surgery as your in Australia
Yes I am in Melbourne. Our surgery was done at the Vision Eye Institute on Paisley Street Footscray by Dr Bhatt.
Easy!
I hope it seems the same for me. My left I is the one and only target . Doesn't mean I'm not nervous.

You are lucky mine that I had today was a half an hour
I am getting my cataracts removed sometime in May June I’m so scared please wish me luck
Hi. Did you get the monofocal or the multifocal lenses?
Having cataract removed on Wednesday the 7th watching your video was a great help to me.
Omg! I am so excited!
will you get reading glasses or progressives?
Had a wonderful Dr & his staff in the office & at the surgery center were
Wonderful.
Laser surgery is not at all the same as cataract surgery.
I'm 72 with cataracts in both eyes which do not need treating so far and I just want to say thank you for this excellent video.
you're welcome.
Take care!
Hello Susan do you mind sharing who did your surgery? I’m also in CO. Thanks!
@@patb6091 I tried, but it didn't post
I'm going soon for cataract surgery and I'm TERRIFIED, I must admit. But reading your comment and sharing your results makes me wish it were happening tomorrow. How exciting that if all goes well, I'll be able to see!!! Thanks from BC Canada!
Has anyone gotten the lens that lets you see distance and up close without glasses ?
He is really excellent!!!
So clear and concise and so comprehensive.
Thanks a lot
I had a cataract operation on both eyes. No problems.
I agree!
I wish all the eye doctors are the same as you
I wish you're my doctor also
Does an optometrist do cataract surgeries? He is an optometrist.
Very good suggestions, thanks. I wish all optometrists and eye surgeons were as thorough and caring as you.
Some people really are Daft !!!!
thanks for sharing
Thank you for your very clear explanation. I'm having my first surgery in four days and this video is helpful for getting ready.
Fellow Canadian, from Edmonton
I'm glad it could help.
Let us know how it went as I’m a little nervous as I am sure you are but they have the surgery down to a walk-in walkout with complete precision!
I’m from Alberta too near Edmonton how’s it working for you are you happy you got it done did you have any complications
I’m so glad I subscribed to this channel. All my questions were answered and now I’m not afraid of cataract surgery. Thank you
I am 76yrs old and I will be having cataract surgery in a few weeks from now so I'm thankful for some advice to know what would happen, because some people told me about some caution after surgery.

Me too
Such excellent presentation! Clearly and wonderfully explained. Thank you so much, doctor 🙏
Clear, practical beautiful and helpful presentation!! Thank you very much !!👏💥
I just discovered this video. It was very informative and I thank you very much for stating all of these things that we should think about. Your video was very clear, organized, and easy to understand. Thank you!
Wow ! Very nicely explained. My husband is getting cataract surgery soon and has had a torn retina recently repaired first. This was very informative.
How did the surgery turn out and what type of lens? Near or far focus? I'm up for surgery in a year.
This video has convinced me to cancel my cataract operation and seek a more natural and less invasive solution. Improving my diet, Reducing insulin. Keto. Intermittant fasting and Castor oil drops.
Unfortunately non of those options will have any effect on eliminating cataracts. The only and safest option would be to consider surgery.
@@swinderby I agree with you about the diet making a difference
I'm almost 78 and just now have the beginnings of cataracts.

Having cataract surgery soon and I am so stressed out about it I can't even sleep.
Wish I knew this be for I am having surgery tomorrow and just come across this
My first surgery went great
Just came across your tips.
Very helpful info about dry eye and blepharitis effect on cataract surgery outcomes.
I wish my eye Dr had given me the information about my dry eye condition care and skin cleaning that you informed us on your video. I did not know about the prescription choices with cataract surgery I had in Brantford,Ontario hospital.
I hope things went well

Thank you for a detailed, informative video
I could never find my readers until I purchased a pair for every room. Very cheap at those dollar stores!

Thanks for your reply. I now find that all that has happened has damaged the cornea and I have been put on a waiting list for a cornea transplant.
Sorry to hear that! I had a cornea graft transplant 21 years and I’m going to have eye surgery in 3 weeks, now I’m nervous.
I REALLY APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION CAUSE I'M GOT TO HAVE CATARACT SURGERY SOON. I ENJOYED IT NOW KNOW ABOUT WHAT IM GOING TO FACE . THANKS
Thank you thank you thank you! I have an eye appointment next Wednesday and will definitely ask these important questions.
