After watching that juvenile slop called 'DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE', 'MEGALOPOLIS' is an artistic revelation. Coppola catered to this vision for the last 25 years plus and it showed. It was bold, audacious and in some parts psychedelic. Yes, it was a long in certain sections but the overall creative arc was outstanding. Yes, it's not for the masses because sublimely it touches upon The Tower of Babel, Greed, Lust, Anarchy, Power and The Architecture of the Mind,...so believe me, not everyone is going to get into this movie. However, what Coppola and that cast and crew conveyed was that art, commerce, culture and creativity can be used to hopefully uplift and elevate the human mind and thinking and by creating and financing 'MEGALOPOIS' on his own, FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA has certainly done that. - James D. Watkins, artistic director of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.
Hi Carls, it sounds like you watched Megalopolis knowing that it was presented as a fable, which is one of several good frames of mind to enjoy this film. Many reviewers say this film is too long because it runs beyond two hours at 138 minutes; actually it is too short. The analogy that explains why longer content works better is to compare “Dune” (1984) by David Lynch to “Dune, Part 1” (2021) plus “Dune, Part 2” (2024) by Denis Villenueve. The first is 137 minutes long the second is 321 minutes long, combined - that’s 5 hours and 21 minutes. The first, the David Lynch version, is hated by many, the second version won several Academy Awards. Someone will remake Megalopolis as a six-part miniseries in the next twenty years. Cheers
Not to pick, but technically Julia says all of the Marcus Aurelius quotes. Francis requests her to stand up and do the first. But thank you for the first positive review I’ve seen! Agree with a lot of it
The best part of this staggering masterwork was when John Voigt (in a Robin hood costume) said “Take a look at this boner I got…” and then shot Aubrey Plaza in the chest and then Shia Labouf in the butthole with a child sized bow and arrow. But in all honesty… I can see how this can come off as a masterpiece film if it’s the only movie you have ever seen… it is, in fact, terrible.
@@iammraat3059 Okay. Done. If you can't speak to your audience, then you don't have an audience. Thank you, I needed to reflect on the fact that I missed a comma.
it’s such a breath of fresh air when you find someone with an open mind ❤ great review

Personally I thought Part 1 was better than Part 2.

Yeah. That part's hilarious. One of the best parts of the movie.
Check out some Chaucer.
My favorite part was when Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel play Patty Cake

@@monamipluspen9560 you are a silly man. You are the audience not the filmmaker that you have to hide behind the mediocrity of other audience members.
This is a very important movie that will be understood a lot better in the future once Jesus appears(he's already alive and teaching his ministry)😅
