    This is a great tutorial. While I do t do it this way, I may change how I do it. To be like this.
    Some things I am having A LOT of issues with on my turret I.E. I have no idea how to do are.
    1. How do I get heading stabilization? (Side to side) using a velocity pivot? I really want to be able to turn on and off a heading stability for my turret for my ship as well so one person can pilot the ship while another uses the turret easier. And it would also have to be able to accept player inputs while staying stabilized.
    And then the dream of dreams is to be able to use a radar with the turret as well to primarily get distance info. (I noticed the targeting laser only reports distances up to about 2200 even though it says 4000.) For a radar assisted turret. (Using the targeting computer you showed off a few videos ago)
    Getting these 3 things ( stabilization, targeting computer, and radar assistance.) All working together would be my dream turret setup.
    If you would be up for the challenge. I'm sure a lot of people would be absolutely interested in seeing something like this working @MrNJersey

      I assume it is maybe not correct but have you tried to this system but with a compass sensor ? it is only theoric and not made in practice yet but I assume it might work as well this way.
      And of course adapte the turning speed to the target rotation using the "Current rotation" node.

    Loved the video @MrNJersey! Can't wait for the next video man! I have a Paint Color in mind for a British Light Cruiser from the Crown Colony-class, Fiji-group. The HMS Kenya was known as the "Pink Lady" because of her Mountbatten Pink Camouflage, which turned out to be the same shade of pink used by the German Coastal Batteries to adjust their Shots. The RGB value for this color is 153,122,141. If you get a chance for a Ship Build series after the A-10 Warthog is done, please use this Color as part of your Ships camouflage pattern, as anyone who tries to find you in the Dawn and Dusk light will lose sight of you.

    if you use a robotic pivot for the elevation you can just take the tilt sensor value, multiply it by -4 and add it to the output of your microcontroller.

      It would be too slow to correct at longer ranges.

      @@13YELLyeah you need to make a lua pid with a vector orientation system, I made one with a tracker mode, staying locked onto any point just by looking at it

    i have a question. soemthime when i turn the stabelization on, than turn it off, it will just aim up. i dont know what is wrong.

    You can use Rotational Speed Sensors.
    The output factor for a 1:1 pivot is x/5.
    Works even better if you account for acceleration!

    my turret randomly gives a -1 signal to my pivots when I try to rotate the turret. Any Ideas?

      you can literally just take the logic he made and switch the sensor to an angular momentum sensor and use yaw

    Not sure it's been mentioned, but while this reduced most of the oscillations of extreme vertical movement vs no stability in rough ocean conditions, the issue is..it never seems to be able to *completely* stay dead steady vertically. I am guessing a PID may be a better choice as an in-between rather than a fixed function multiplying the tilt info, while finicky to work with.
    My guess at this slight "left over" movement is due to how tilt sensors work, and simply negating that offset by multiplying by 4, up to 8 as I tried, doesn't completely negate turret's unwanted vertical axis movement.

      A (1,0,0) PID is just multiplying it by a constant, if you want something better you'd want to mess with the I D sections too.
      Changing the P value will cause your system to respond to inputs/disturbances faster
      Changing I will remove any offset outputs that are likely to arise from P gain alone.
      Changing D will dampen any oscillations in the system but may slow the response time slightly as it "fights against" the P value.

    As a control engineer the 1 0 0 PID controller pains me, that's literally just a P controller which is likely going to have some sort of offset and no damping which is a bit of a problem for waves

    This has nothing to do with this video but why is the pitch setting in the radars actually changing the pivot? Like what? I can rotate my radar myself just like we do with all the other parts you know? I did some testing with my C-RAM on my ship and wanted to put the pitch angle up so it only shoots at targets that are in the air. All of the sudden my tracking was messed up and I did some testing in the hangar. Now I know what the issue was... nice. In addition to that: why is the slider going to -0.12 but in the positive direction to 0.13? That doesnt make any sense either. I hope the devs hotfix this asap because thats just really annoying. (I only did the testing with the Phalanx radar so if the other radars work thats ok I guess)
    Edit: They acutally fixed it with the new hotfix and I'm happy with the new update but I cant find it in the patchnotes. In addition to that they said they changed the detection range for the smaller radars in the patchnotes, which they didnt? Im really just confused at this point lmao

    Well MrNJersey its be fun, but will the weapons DLC and the focus on that I'm out. Stormworks was a great game, That has changed. Fhe search and rescue side of this game is going to die off and get replaced by the mobs scream for another game of destruction. I called it months ago that the workshop was going to turn into a warehouse of war machines and here we are, exactly that.
    I can also safely say the vast majority of the people on this channel and that play stormworks have never been shot at or been in a war zone.

      Maybe you're forgetting the "guard" part in Coast Guard.
      The game depicts you running your own coast guard, which could very well mean defending against pirates, smugglers, angry armed fishermen, big sharks, etc.
      Besides, the weapons DLC is totally optional and you can play the game without it. So I think your complaint is more about the change in direction of NJersey's content.
      Just because we enjoy games about fighting and combat doesn't mean we fantasize over killing people or even going to war...
      And if the idea of combat bothers you, maybe you should move to a country that has no military and see how it goes

      Search and rescue side of the game was dead since it left alpha, it's a game about building. Logistics are fun because they give many abilities to build new vehicles. Rescue is opposite because it is too repetitive, it is just transporting boats with no fuel and teaching crew how to use extinguisher.
      Workshop is filled with war machines because dlc was released several weeks ago and people are still building new vehicles.
