  • So the last video we showed what we can do, now I (Jim) thought some of you might like a better understanding of what we are doing and why it works.
I hate to say it but most of us have been doing evacuation wrong our entire careers, myself included. It was much later in my career when I started to do it right, and a lot of research and testing to perfect the techniques.
Evacuation is not easy. Personally, I still learn more about vacuum almost daily. So here is an opportunity to learn from my mistakes which have now become my experience. If you follow the instructions outlined here it will make things a lot easier.

i was a little bit surprised when he said that you get the transition to molecular flow at a different pressure depending on the system you're attached to, because i always thought the flow regime was purely dependent on pressure. i'm not really sure if that's 100% correct, but what it made me realize is that you're measuring the pressure at one end of the hose, but the transition from viscous to molecular flow is occuring at the other end, at the pump end, so what you're seeing is the pressure delta from one end of the hose to the other, which is of course part of what this video is all about. i love learning new stuff, these videos are really good

If you have just one large diameter hose will that make a difference?

Good presentation. But my Fieldpiece vacuum gauge won’t hold a vacuum right at the pump when the isolation valve is closed. Any ideas?

I had to replace one o-ring seal on my hose and my vacuum held.

you may not vacuum in a very short time you must vacuum slowly !!!! reason when you vacuum quick under 0.68mbar the possible water not vapor will frees and gets to
solid ice . Big mistake !!! Best you slowly vacuum the system and brake the vacuum by N two times to get the pressure up and give some time to boil out that water that gets to vapur . Vacuum below the 6C° in the system is not recommend because of the boiling point at -1 bar relative ....

I still use my $50 pump from Amazon. And I'm so happy with it. $50 vs $500. Yes i pump longer but i charge by the hour, so what gives

Jim can you get Fieldpiece to intergrade with measure-quick for the probes?

Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C The first fieldpiece/measurequick colab video he posted on Facebook I asked the same thing. He didn't say it was 100%, but said they had a promising partnership and the chances of the probes working with MQ are very high.
