The Bourne trilogy is some of the best action thrillers we’ve gotten in the past 20 years. Kudos to Damon for sticking with these incredible movies
Honestly yea Bourne was way better than avatar
I feel like most people have forgotten Bourne by now
@@mrrandom1265 probably but it really pioneered how modern action movies are shot, and they did it while still showing all the action. Many use jump cuts and closeups to fake the action but Bourne did everything perfect
@@mrrandom1265... Nope
Nah, but avatar has a more wholesome legacy
I can just picture John Krazinksi just silently looking at the camera and giving an exasperated face after hearing that

He may have lost a lot of Money .. but Integrity .. is priceless
Impressive, but it didn’t impoverish him! It would be nice to make the point that money isn’t all that counts. We would be in much better shape as a nation if we recognized other values more.
What's the integrity of not playing the star in Avatar? such a great film
@@esprocsllib
I was asking that too 🤷♂️
What integrity ? He's actor. He suppose to in the film
@@hamza89868the integrity he has comes into play when he doesn't want to s*** on the movie production that he was already involved in made an obligation to be a part of. He could have dipped out on the people he was currently working with with the Bourne movies but he didn't he stayed and fulfilled his original obligation that is the definition of integrity.
We are all satisfied that he stuck with the Bourne films..
My thought exactly. But man, he would've been so good in that role.
Yes we are!
I like 1&2 rest are hot garbage
I’ve watch borne way more the. Avatar
@@sidharthchand8072 agreed.
Mad respect for realizing the opportunity but honoring current work contracts
He was great in the Bourne franchise. The one issue I have with him is that he doesn't have a labrador
Yes but perhaps he could also not know how much that 10% would turn out to be hehe
@@gustavoaffonso8942 well avatar has a budget around 300 mil, so it had to make 600 mil to become a profit and Cameron was assuring Matt that for sure it's gonna be profitable, so he already knew it's 60 mil minimum
It’s not just any work contract, it’s the Bourne franchise. Matt Damon is Jason Bourne. Every actor is in search of a franchise movie that is forever linked together with them. Just like Tom Cruise is connected to MI, Bruce Willis with Die Hard, it’s the same for Matt Damon and Bourne. If it’s a no name movie that he wasn’t identified to already, I’d think he’d jump ship.
It was a no-name movie at the time, until it debuted... Matt Damon was already famous before that.
This is a very good example that no amount of money can buy integrity. It’s not for sale. He honoured his work contract and respected the team he was working with. That’s integrity. Some may think that’s loyalty, no it’s not. It’s integrity. You can always buy loyalty, different people have different prices. But you can never buy integrity. Good on you Matt Damon. 👍☮️
Integrity is loyalty to yourself.
The Bourne movies were epic. Glad he didn't short that film.
In other words, I don't need you to do it, but I want you to do it. I would like so much to work with you that I'm willing to give you 10% of what this movie makes. That's a big compliment coming for a person like James Cameron.
No way. That shit was expensive and time consuming to make, execs saw Pocahontas/fern gully rehashed with smurfs and said "Let's put someone with star power in it to put asses in seats or we'll lose our shirts!" But James is a talent and he knew what he had.
Yeah it might have just been less an "offer" and more Cameron paying him a compliment, knowing he was tied up with Bourne movie.
Or that the movie didn't need Matt to be big, but it would've been bigger with Matt.
He wanted to work with him enough to offer 10% but not enough to delay his filming start date for Matt Damon to be freed up???
So, my last thoughts on this are that if you are just listening to studio execs and pandering to them you wouldn't go out of your way to offer an extra 10%, you would just offer them the role. Remember you are James Cameron. You don't need to offer extra anything and actors aren't expecting you to. And if that was the case, you would just offer the 10% to someone else who is bigger or just as big. After all I don't think Sam Worthington received that deal, but maybe I'm wrong.
As for not delaying your own movie, he just said he didn't need him for the movie to be big. So why is he going to delay his movie which usually takes years to make? Working with Damon is a bonus, not a condition for the success of his own movie. You delay projects (and or move your schedule around) if it is essential to what you are doing. If he is not essential to the success of Avatar then the project wouldn't be delayed.
I know people will see this differently, but that's my way of seeing it. Agree or not, that's the extent of my reply.
Matt. The definition of a really good guy.
His John Krasinski impression was really good.
You must only know him as Jim.
Absolutely, I forgot it was Matt Damon for a sec😂
@@TheEthik87who is John and Jim?
@@BlackStarSeries John is the human. Jim is the character John plays. On a show called the office. Jim.. is the alot the impression. John is more like Jack Silva from 13 Hours. His 'normal quirky comedic side' is the act. If you ever seen him talk normal and be his normal self. He's very little like this reenactment by Matt
@@BlackStarSeries Also I have met John Krasinski during the filming of Quiet Place in Ulster county. Twice. And he is very solid, not very sarcastic or silly and goofy like Jim on the office. He is actually very smart. And calm. Makes no effort to be funny outside of the screen
Matt Damon is awesome, and a great humble dude. Love he can laugh at this type of stuff.
You kept your integrity and that's what counts.
Would take a lot longer to count $300 million...
Thank you!
Integrity + $0.75 will buy you a sr. coffee
@ Mickey-D's.
He looked like he regretted it, though
which integrity? it’s completely normal for actors to be involved in multiple projects at the same time
"the movies doesn't need you at all, the movie is the star, the idea is the star" ~ Typical James Cameron
Yeah he knows his worth
TBF he was totally right - people watched avatar for the movie
I mean yeah. People don’t primarily go to see Cameron movies for the actors. The main draw is his directing prowess. He’s earned the right to gloat imo.
Yeah, I liked Avatar, but I honestly don't even remember what the main guy looked like.
Aww man… I •seriously hope• that after Cameron passed him the offer, he paused for a momentーlooking downward, as if seriously considering it, right? Then, Matt Damon just slowly tilted his head back up, raised an eyebrow, and brazenly asked him:
"…Do you like apples?"
…And you can probably guess where it went from there.
Bold of Krasinski to assume he'd be invited to Matt Damon's private space station like that
Space station? Elysium!
They're very good friends, live in the same building, go on holiday together etc....

It is cool the way he said that he did not leave BOURNE early. He did not, "go on take the money and run."

@@Mathilda2zero Okay fascist. Keep pretending his career is based on one action series that went to crap.
Bourne sucks but the mars movie and the future movie he did especially were great
@@Mathilda2zero No I don't want to meet your girlfriend.

Sigourney Weaver might disagree somewhat with you there... 🤣
Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Giovanni Ribisi are also recognisable enough.

@@claudevieaul1465 You don’t get to see most of their faces very much, so not sure what you’re getting at. Also I have no idea who Lang and Ribisi are.
Yup
One wonders why Cameron was offering Damon ten percent of the film's profit if he was so unconcerned about having an A-lister attached, he clearly was concerned but his hunch turned out to be right, he didn't need him. I don't think Matt would've been right for it really in any case, regardless of the money he made the right decision.
There comes a point where money alone is hollow, it starts to means nothing. It becomes just numbers on a page.
He was true to the cast and crew of “Bourne” and that trumps money every time!
Truth
Yep, i agree on that part.. For a sane person, anything in million that's even at $100k+ are more than enough for the rest of your life. Unless you're spending money like useless gold digger "socialite wannabe" that need to replace designer clothes like a worthless toilet paper or $500 massage and spa every, single, week 🤮
Matt Damon most likely has more than enough money to buy everything he ever wanted for himself and his family for the rest of his life. But man, you really need an very strong stomach to turn down 300 million dollars. Because lets face it, most people who will ever see this, including myself, can't even imagine the sheer amount of 300 million dollars. And just one more time, that were 300 million dollars.
Well to be fair no one knew how much money the movie would make.
@@barbaravyse660 Being the highest grossing film ever? Yeah, that's true. But come on, it was James Cameron's first movie after the success of "Titanic". It was gonna be a hit for sure. Maybe he would have lost 30 million instead of 300, but that's still insane regardless.

Matt's a good guy. Love who he is.
I appreciate that he did that! He’s a phenomenal actor on his own strength
Such respect for Matt Damon's ethics for priorities and commitment.
All this says to me is that Matt has integrity, I mean let's be honest he would have had more than enough money already, it's not like he was going to be poor, if this had been at the same time as Good Will Hunting or Saving Private Ryan it wouldve been be a bigger deal but he still honoured his commitments to the Bourne team so credit to him for that regardless.
That's the thing. Imagine if he'd bailed on "Good Will Hunting" and they had to redo everything with a different actor or change the end trying to make it work without him. Would've been a huge loss for everyone, including millions of people who wouldn't have gotten the real "Good Will Hunting" film.

Who knows, the less popular actor made the movie more interesting perhaps because he was just an average soldier. Where I think most of people would have seen Matt and not the average soldier.
Matt has the ability t ok transform and I think he would have inhabited in his own brilliant way. I can totally see him in it with adding his special qualities to that great character. And Sam Worthington brought his own GREAT quality too. I enjoyed it exactly how it was. And no doubt would have with Matt. Just different.
No, it would've been a better movie and more successful. I'm not a Damon nut either, but I found the male lead in that movie to be the worst part of it.
You are Correct:
I'd be guilty.
The movie was bad regardless, it made money due to the visuals.
You could of had a cardboard cut out do the scenes for the soldier and its still make the same money
