Hollyfield was amazing. So fearless taking and giving from bigger opponents the way he did. Totally fearless.
I remember seeing that fight back then. I miss enjoying those fight days along with pizza, beer and friends👍
This version of the fight is better than HBO's in 1992. Excessive commentary diminishes a fight!
This one, not sure what network and why, but it was horrible commentary as if it's a baseball game being narrated. On HBO Larry Merchant provided color commentary, Lampley was incomparable and George Foreman was a real boxer giving opinions. What's not to like with HBO?
Saw this on a pay big screen live, was in awe. I believe to this day, it was one of the best fights I have seen in my life.

We'll be watching these great fights until the end of our time on this Earth! I just finished the Gatti/Ward trilogy yet again. Oh....Lots of people believe that round ten of this fight was the greatest of all time. Watch round 15 of Holmes/Norton. I believe it was much better.
Bow is about homeless now he was trying to get a job a crst truck but can’t read and write enough to pass the permit test
Yes, the 70's were an incredible decade for heavyweight boxing. The old heads would claim the best. But God damn if there weren't some absolutely legendary battles in the 90's! This being one of them!
A classic heavyweight fight those days are over
Agreed its a shame
This fight is one of my favorite fights
One of the best fights of the 90's, I miss those days. When Evander took that uppercut and stayed on his feet, unbelievable. It would have knocked out most fighters.
That was a brutal uppercut. HF was in zombieville, held up by the ropes from smashing to the canvas. How it’s possible to keep on fighting in that state is what makes him 1 in ten million. The fight could have gone either way. Evander never stopped firing, and Bowe just kept on coming, showing flashes of brilliance. But, that uppercut is like the one Marciano floored Jersey Joe Walcott with.
@@angeloiodice9304 Yeah man All that. I remember watching it live and when Bowe connected that punch everyone was like OHHHH!! Take care man.

Evander later avenged this loss in a rematch with Bowe. Evander refused to let defeat have the last word
...then got knocked out in their 3rd outing and let defeat have the last word.
@@RyanMclain really? When did that happen? I thought Lennox Lewis was the only other loss he suffered
@@christiane.g.4142 they had their rubber match 2yrs after the rematch. He continued his career way too long, suffered plenty of losses. Many fighters that have careers like that are often remembered like that: losses after they should have retired aren't held against them and the opponents aren't remembered because they wouldn't have beaten them earlier. Evander also lost to Michael moorer after beating bowe in the rematch but before their 3rd bout. he lost to James toney and Chris Byrd. And he and John Ruiz each have a win, loss, and a draw against one another. Then he lost in his last attempt to become champion against valuev. All told he had 10 losses and 2 draws.
Yes but to win he had to take more steroids, despite that he got his a** whopped in the 3rd

Only the Clock will judge if anyone stay standing inside the ring Holyfield or Bowe
This Bowe could've beaten any heavyweight in history, but we never saw this version of him again.
The commentator is biased..he is for Holifield. He is not using his eyes. All shots come from Holifield and can't see those that come from Bowie.
Bowe was treated alot like this in his fights..
Watching this FIGHT is just as painful today as it was back then, live. Bowe was supernatural this evening. And HOLYFIELD proved with blood and sweat that he has an undisputed place among the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. We almost cried when we saw him lose in agony at the end of this evening. A TRUE, FULL HEART WARRIOR. Their TRILOGY with Bowe drained him of at least 20 fights of vitality/stamina. But from Bowe's side it's about the same.

Not the best fight in history of boxing. Ibeabuchi and David Tua fight beat this one by a long shot. To this day that fight holds the record of the most punches thrown in one match. The fight will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

The heart and warriors spirit from Holyfield in this fight is something I will never forget, he originally started at cruiserweight, and if I’m not mistaken every guy he fought at heavyweight was heavier then him (I could be wrong) but the fact he could not only take big punches from them but also hurt them with his punches is crazy to me. He deserves so much more credit then guys like Tyson especially with his achievements
This fight was actually a Heavyweight VS a super Heavyweight !!
It's May 2024, and I've been watching this fight every single week for the past 2 years. I'm old enough to remember when they first met in 1992, but studying it as an adult has been a day and night experience. Nobody today would be able to handle 1992 Holy and Bowe.
Unreal the battering these guys could take. What a fight.

Bowe got a nasty jab but what I liked about him the most is his inside game. Both him and Evander knew how to fight really good inside.

Riddick bow..is the best...
This was a true 2 da game showdown
Close fight except the knockdown. Bowe looked a lot bigger than Evander just his height and reach, plus thirty pounds he wore Holyfield out as the rounds progressed .! The clinches , accumulative heavier punches made Riddick stronger in the latter half of the fight. While Evander’s punches were crisper and more accurate in the beginning it all caught up to him and was beaten by the bigger man. And I might add one of the few times that ever happened to him.!!! Heart 💜 like a LION a case of how much fight in the dog he never disappoints BRAVO EVANDER 👏👍🏻🇺🇸🥊🥊🥊😁
I don't think the height and reach of Bowe was often a big problem, Holyfield had the speed and timing to be slightly more effective in the early rounds with his jab than Bowe was, but the accumulation of punches from the heavier man wore Holyfield down as the fight progressed. Bowe also had more success with his jab when he followed it up with a right hand, though he didn't do that an awful lot even late in the bout.
How old were the fighters
Not sure what fight this reporter was watching. He wore Holyfield's glasses
Who is this announcer ? It is supposed to be the HBO crew with Foreman. Video clarity is awesome tho
The heart and will of fighters is incredible.

From New Zealand seeing this now
I was born in, 84...this is the most evenly contested , vicious fight of my life, real heavyweight boxing
In this fight, bowe was to holyfield what douglas was to tyson. Super motivated and in top shape for this one big moment.
ว😊
Both Douglas and Bowe never stayed in shape after their moment.
Yet, Evander Holifield Knockdown Mike Tyson easily.
If you watch round 3 carefully, something happens to Holyfield right around 2:00 left. He loses the spring in his step & snap on his punches. May have been the bodywork (& low blows) from Bowe. Or it may have been Holyfield's heart issue, unknown at that time?
Bowe had only done one or two low blows by that point, and I really don't think he was trying to do low blows at all. They happened when Riddick already had his head down low, and I believe for the first one Holyfield steps in close, which meant the punch didn't have chance to swing up higher before connecting. The next definite low blow I saw was at the end of round 4; this time Holyfield puts his arm over Bowe's head momentarily, holding him low so that Bowe's punch goes low. In other words it was an accident of the way they were fighting, particularly Holyfield by stepping in close.
This fight might as well been bare knuckle.. what a brawl
Holyfield is the King whose crown ,you could not easily take...
Fantastic fight one of a kind super fight

Holyfield had such heart, grit and determination. Here, he's giving up three inches in height and 30 lbs in weight but still went the distance in a 50/50 fight. The following year he regained the title handing Bowe the only loss of his career.

Yeah honestly I don't know if Bow did enough to take it from Holyfield. This is all my favorite fights of all time and I always thought it was too close to call. Either way Holyfield got his Revenge. What a fight. Warriors
Where was Tyson at this time?
@@greenfields1221 And he paid Lewis to step aside so he could take on Seldon and Holyfield. Tyson really didn't like having to fight either Holyfield or Lewis but was forced to defend against at least one of them. If he had refused, he would've been stripped. Tyson was ducking Holyfield in the late 80s too. Mentally, he never got over the fact that Holyfield just wasn't scared of him and pushed back hard. There was also that whooping Holyfield gave him when they sparred as amateurs. The thing is, Tyson stood away from tough guys. This is why he never faced the likes of Foreman, Bowe, Mercer, McCall, Rahman and Tua. D'Amato told him to stay away from hard hitters with great chins who had good stamina and fought well at short range.
Tyson lost the title to James Buster Douglas, Holyfield won the title from Douglas.--
It was Lennox Lewis who never got in the ring with Bowe
This is what a professional world class boxing really is.
Un bon combat avec des sportifs prodigieux.

what a pair of absolute terminators, throwing atomic bombs at each other from all angles, but boy they could take a punch as well. a prime version of either of these guys would obliterate the division these days...

I liked Bowe ❤
Watching the 1960s heavyweights through to the end of Lennox Lewis's career makes modern heavyweights look amateurish in comparison.
The current heavyweights are nowhere near as good.
Evander..one of my favorite Boxers of all time. We never hear how he was a cruiser-weight who NO ONE could stop! So he had to up his weight to fight in a division with naturally heavier and more powerful fighters. I think this fight was closer than the judges scored it. Hats off to "Bid Daddy" and Mr. Holyfield..GREAT Fight!
Real heavy weight Boxing
both were better than tyson, excellent fighters, excellent fight
Not sure who's fight this was but I do believe they both brought it all. I know it was alot closer than those judges scored it.
I did feel confident Bowe had won, but those 117-110 scores don't portray the balance of the fight accurately. I think there were a lot of close rounds in which Holyfield wasn't active enough until the last minute, and Bowe was impressing the judges in the first two minutes of those rounds.
Es increíble evander pensando 14 kg menos que bowe y aun asi darle pelea tampoco bowe tiene desmerito pensado 14 kilos mas puede mantener ese cardio y esa velocidad cada uno era una bestia
This was truly a Wasted career. Bowe had it all, and couldve gone down as one of the All Time Greatest. Even with his accomplishments, I'll always wonder what couldve been.
Bowe was serious skill and talent
Maybe wasted for the fans but I think that Bowe is content with what he achieved
If he trained like Holyfield, he'd have lived up to that potential.
This fight gives us a glimpse of Bowe at his top level atleast.

Bowe would KO him if he was SERIOUS.. Riddick had a habit of boxing down to the level of his opponents and stalling/rushing fights to prove whatever media article that critiqued him wrong
Is there any bad effect to a boxer with to much punch received like this two warrior's, inside the ring they almost kill each other.
