If someone planing to explore Kerala. U don't need the help of any travel agency. Once you are here, collect the information of places from internet or tourist information center and you can go any place in Kerala by public transport (KSRTC/RAILWAY). public transport system is very clean and systematic. This is the only place in India you can't find taxi scammers and rikshawalas running behind you and say they that will show the places. If you want taxi or riksha you should go to them and ask.
You can travel every corner of Kerala without fear. Another important thing in Kerala is, you can find a decent restorent even in a small village (dont be afraid of diarrhoea). You can communicate in English or Hindi in Kerala,most of the people speak English and hindi (even some of them are not fluent but they can understand wat u r saying)

But for me, best beach in Kerala is Muzhappilangad drive in beach, Kannur. It's one of the longest and best beach in Asia.

Eventhough many people lost their houses and things.. tourist spots recovered very quickly after a month itself.. the whole of kerala was not destroyed in the flood as many people may think.. financial losses were huge but no place was completely destroyed

Anyway no one can cover all specilities in one short trip. Because Onam & boat race is one one month and Pooram is on another and season for Kovalam starts from end of November to January.
So select your wish list and plan accordingly.
