- Could the Salomon ADV Skin 12 be the best running hydration vest?
That's a great question and we decided to deep dive on what we loved and disliked about this vest.
We have only ran in the Salomon vest and would love to hear if you have ran in this vest and what you thought of it or if you have ran in any other brands.

So happy to see this one 😊 I hope it helps out people like us who didn’t have nearby places to try them on and have to ‘best guesstimate’ at which vest and size will fit best.
For females reference reading this into the future: I am 210lbs, 5 foot 7 inches, 36C bust. I wear mostly women’s size 14 tops and jeans/shorts, and men’s large or women’s XL running clothing. My most comfortable fit was the Salomon 12L women’s size large. On that one the chest straps are about halfway tightened down. I could have made a medium work if I wanted it very very very snug fitting. The XL women’s I could have made work on a pinch but it was just baggy enough to rub & chafe.
In the men’s Salomon 12L I fit most comfortably in a medium, but do own a men’s small that I wear sometimes (bought it sight unseen before I tried the women’s vest). It has the straps let out all the way to fit my bust, but sometimes I just like the taller skinny bottles better. The torso length is too long though, it rubs me too much on the back and sides at the bottom of the vest, so I can only wear it with a thicker shirt underneath.

@@averagewanderers - Cocodona 250 #3 and Sedona Canyons 125 inaugural year just wrapped up - did you guys watch any of the coverage? I’m excited for Wes Plate and JB runs Az to post their personal videos as they have in years past. I signed up for Sedona Canyons 125 for 2024 already. You should think about it! Cutoff time averages out to 36 min miles (for 125 miles lol).
@@coleydabney I did watch some of the coverage and it was a crazy race and those runners are definitely people to inspire to be!
You are a monster for doing the 125 next year!!!!! I can't wait to hear how that goes for you! Maybe it will be on our bucket list someday haha gotta try a hundred first I think to understand how to move our bodies that distance!

I had the same experience with the straws! I broke out my knife and then my boyfriend, who thought it would be easy. Lol. Finally got the straws adjusted. I have the skin 5 and wish I would have the 12. I think I still will. Thanks for the video and honesty.

This video is great. I just ordered one. As my Ultimate direction vest which I liked kept putting a small hole in my bladder in the back.

@@brycerehder8372 it is amazing. I had all of my nutrition for my marathon in it including all my hydration mixes and only had to stop for water fills. It is so so comfortable. I had it packed to go race and I had to wear my old one and well I disliked it. It is like I do not even have it on.
that back pocket that goes around is to thread your rain jacket through

We definitely loved this one!
I’ve tried both versions and what made me ditch the women’s version is that they don’t have a version of the flasks with a wide opening. I often use various electrolyte powders and it’s too aggravating trying to put it thru a tiny opening like on the women’s flasks. Wish Salomon would change that.
Totally agree, it is annoying with the small openings to fill up at water stations. Just did another race and that was a new issue that came to mind. Thanks for mentioning that!
Hi so :you must unscrew the tubes works like a charm and use pre-cut electrolyte tablets due to 18mm flask😊 .

Hi. Thanks for the lovely video. I have question. I got an unisex adv skin 12 recently. I used for 5-6 times and hand-washed it with natural soap every time. I noted the “Salomon” logo print on the flask pocket is coming off. Did it happen to yours too? Thanks.
Oh shoot that doesn’t seem good, it appears ours is still looking good and that’s after two ultra training cycles. Maybe Salomon could warranty it, but I’m also not sure how their warranty policy works. Sorry that has happened to yours!
