How laksa took over Darwin - one of Australia’s hottest cities | Top End Tucker | ABC Australia

- Laksa is said to be the Dish of the NT, and @JaniceFung heads to Darwin to taste some of Australia’s best laksas. They absolutely love this stuff in the Top End, so much so they have an annual month-long festival devoted to it. It seems like an unlikely pairing - hot spicy noodle soup in the midst of Darwin’s heat and humidity, but somehow it just works.

Great choice for a travel/food vlogger. Been following Janice for a while, top shelf Sydney girl 😁
Go Janice! Been following you on your channel and you're now doing vids for ABC wow!!!
Janice, you're a legend, might be the only reason for me to ever visit Darwin now, just to try all the Laksa there
It’s good to see you on ABC Janice
Congratulations Janice!!! Been a fan for a long time
Great to see you here Janice. I follow you on yt, congratulations.
Janice always provides excellent reviews on food items
Love this vid! 🍜 more please ❤
I lived and worked in Darwin Central for about two years. I lived in the Evolution Building, which is the tallest and most luxurious building in Darwin, literally 1 min from Stucky and Mitchell streets. Laksa was a Friday ritual for lunch where the whole team would go to eat together. Whether or not Darwin has the best of the Australia capital cities, is still up for debate, because I haven't tried it in Tasmania yet!!!
Nice one Janice!! 💯
Great video, Janice! Really happy to see you’re doing so well on the ABC - so cool 😎 and hot 🥵 lol!
In Perth can also find very authentic Laksa, especially in Vic Park. I think because Perth is closer to SE Asia than Syd, Melb etc more people from Singapore, Malaysia etc. Of course I believe Singapore/Malaysia will be best in the world but I guess best in the West might be true for Australia.
Good video mate
Janice Fung works at ABC Australia?
Freelance presenter? 😅
Oh there u r Janice!! I was wondering why there were no recent videos from your channel.
FANTASTIC
Laksa is also the best for hangovers. Nothing like sweating it out😂😂
Grew up in vibrant multicultural Malaysia - this spicy segment has me salivating nostalgically 🤤 (the Cantonese helped too)
Wow your on ABC,well done
Go Janice!!
Good one Janice!
marys at parap taste so fresh and clean... 😍yummo
Top choice for a presenter!
Goooooo Janice!!!!! ABC Australia, you better try to hold on to her..... as I can see she is going to be poached to be a future Masterchef Australia host!!!
Yay Janice!
Omg Janice!
Anywhere you go in Darwin. Its the best Laksa in Australia. ❤❤
Yum!
Laksa pie sounded sense. Laksa Ice Cream and Laksa Chocolate???
Makes sense. Darwin is closer to Southeast Asia than southern Australia in terms of distance
I’m going to have to fly to Darwin and try all the laksa’s and then compare it to Malay Chinese 😍
Can you do the best laksa in Sydney 😍😍😍
Am very sure we can do better 🤣🤣🤣
PRETTY PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
Best Laksa in the world is Malaysia/Singapore, cause they have cockles
So good. The best laksa I've ever had is the duck laksa from tak kee roast inn in Canberra. Elite! 🍜🌶
Pair Deep fried Chinese man tou to dip in laksa soup. Laksa soup paired with oven toasted French stick.
Ok you on the ABC now is it good or bad . I wish you well
Omg😂😂😂😂😂😂
I still prefer a Katong laksa. 😊
Ring stinger material
yo its Janice
Malaysia trying to claim laksa but the laksa does not in anyway resemble malaysias lakshart
Brocolli in Laksa, it is a NO NO ! It should be bean sprouts instead
Broccoli in laksa is wrong
But it works so well ... love dragging the broccoli florets through the floating chilli oil, and like tofu puffs they get infused ... yum.
Great that Australia is embracing more diverse Asian food. Unfortunately it’s a reality that Australia still has no culture of its own.
