Was a braver decision to pull out than to keep going - you have set a good example to younger athletes - do what you need to do and don’t worry about others ❤
you’re decision was incredibly important and set an example to young (and seasoned) athletes to listen to their body when something is wrong which is so much harder to do than to keep pushing, especially in a situation like this. thank you for always setting the right example and being an huge inspiration. can’t wait to see you come back stronger!
So much respect for being transparent about the entire process, the highs and lows, is not easy to share this and for you to even start because it is home soil. I'm sure the next race will be better, rooting for Team LCB!
Thank you Team Charles Barclay for another positive outlook video. I often turn to you folks for inspiration when I’m having my low points and today I was feeling particularly pants and depressed about some really sad stuff that happened a while back. Hearing about your positive outlook and strength to heal and come back fighting has inspired me to cheer myself up by getting focussed and re joining the triathlon worldwide family Thank you
We all know how much this race meant to you Lucy. You made the right call pulling out. I was so impressed to see you cheering the other pros on at the finish line and even give an interview for T100. Many other pros would have gone straight to their hotel. It shows your professionalism and your dedication to this sport. Hope you recover well for Nice. 🙏👍😊
I am not an athlete. I have a rare heart condition. I was so stressed and depressed until one day I just started looking at races. I thought if I could figure out what keeps these amazing athletes going, then I could use it to keep myself going. That was when I saw you race. Honestly, I didn't know anything about triathlons until I saw you race, and I have been a fan ever since. I know better than anyone that self care is very important. I know that you are a busy person, but please put self care in your schedule. I love seeing you race, but none of it means anything if you are not happy and well. Please take care of yourself. I will keep you in my prayers❤
Lucy I’m so sorry thankfully it wasn’t worse. I know you have a incredible medical team and the support of family. Just relax Lucy including your recovery training. Take all the time you need Lucy. I’ll still be cheering you on champ!🏆🥇🙏👍❤️ be safe!
Gutted for you, everyone could see how much this race meant for you. I loved being on the run aid station and being able to see you race in person. I'm sure you'll come back stronger than ever 💪🏼
I am following you now for a while already and you are an incredibly strong women and an inspiration. Right now, I am not doing so well/can‘t live my life how I want to but remembering how you handled things in the past (and I am sure you will handle this like a champ too) gives me strength and hope. Thank you for doing what you do best
Thank you for update, I was wondering. That takes a lot of courage to stop instead of keep on pushing and risk injury. I don’t blame you at all and applaud your decision. Can’t wait to see you race when you’re feeling up to it. Get better soon!
So gutted when I saw Annie go past but not you. 😪 Personally I DNF’d on Sunday (bike mechanical), and walked back to the hotel crying, it can only be worse for you with all eyes on you. We will be back, we will do it! I have absolute faith in you and Reece, you will do us proud next year! I’m already booked in for it because I won’t let it beat me, and I know you’ll be there and do it if for no other reason than just because of this race. Good luck and thank you for all the hard work you and Reece do and the inspiration you give us to get back from whatever our personal fights may be (mine was six growths on my lungs, I will not let it stop me).
Hi Lucy, it was my first time ever tuning into Triathlon. Have been so inspired by your journey that I had to make sure to schedule and watch the livestream for this event. So proud of you and prioritising your health and wellbeing. Thanks for continually sharing your journey ~ all of it and not just the glossy stuff 🩷
It is so much harder to stop that it is too keep going. It was amazing to see you race in person an experience I was not sure of would get, then to race that same course myself the next day was perfection. Thank you for all that you share with us ❤
Your videos continually showcase what an incredible, sincere person and athlete you are with a fantastic team around you. You’ll be back ❤ Holly, you are a legend behind the scenes with your camera work and editing. Thank you so much Team Charles-Barclay for all you share with us!
Hope you heal and feel back to normal quickly, Lucy! Was gutted to see you had to drop as I know how excited you must have been to be in front of your home crowd. Wearing my battle braids shirt today - you're always an inspriation!
So sorry it wasn’t your day, Lucy! I hope you feel better soon & thanks for sharing this video w us. Most of all, now I know Reece’s pore cleansing and mindfulness routine, which will change my life I’m sure!! :D
Proud of you, Lucy! These lows make you even more resilient, and they will make the highs even higher! Take care and keep crushing it! Sending you a big virtual hug!
Lucy we love you! We wish you all the best. We travel last Saturday to London to watch and support you on the race! It good to hear and see that you are fine now! Thank you for the video
You are my role model Lucy, meeting you at Ibiza was one of my favorite moments as an athlete. You are incredible, don’t let yourself get down with the pressure - as you say, pressure makes diamonds ❤
I've been trying to get my Achilles sorted all year, so I quite literally feel your pain. You are still The Queen of Triathlon and will be back stronger and faster than ever! Also, I think Charlotte Tilbury will be sending their stuff to Reese in the future - a most excellent spokesman, LOL.
Was there cheering for you with my brother before our sprint on the following day, got super worried when i saw you didn't come through the run laps area the second time and was panicking wondering what happened, it was inspiring to see you race in person! I can't imagine the disappointment you must have felt but don't worry yourself, you will get through this, overcoming adversity only makes us stronger. Tough times never last, only tough people. 🙌👑
Lucy, by making the decision to put your health and safety first, it shows jst how strong, confident, and smart you are as a person and athlete. You are an inspiration to everyone and I always look forward to watching every race you do no matter the outcome. The journey is what is most inspiring. Take time to care for yourself and never lose sight of the value you bring to the world, and of course to womens sport!! The comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback. Much love and support from North Carolina USA! 🩵🐐
I will always pray and support you Ms.Lucy!Praying for your speedy recovery. For me you're still the best triathlete.Keep safe and God bless always!Peter Andrew Chua from the Philippines one of your supportive fan!❤❤❤
OMG, I was listening to the talk while working, and hearing about not feeling well etc. and then I got a break and looked over at the screen just as you came out of sauna with that mask on. I thought, wow she does look not well ... for a second anyway. Glad it was not that bad :)
Thank you so much for shearing this with us! We all LOVE u and we know that you will get over this and will be in sublime shape once again! Stay positive :) MEOW!
much admiration for you making a tough decision Lucy- but you got to do you❤ No one else is doin what you do at the level you perform at x Onwards & Upwards🔥🔥🔥
Tough choice: putting your health first v. feeling like you’re letting everyone down-you did the right thing and will be back and better. It is a journey and you should enjoy every moment of it. Good luck!
Lots ❤❤❤. You’re such an inspiration training for my first ever Ironman distance . I am starting to doubt 13:36 my self and well. See this just give me hope to keep on pushing to the Gold of completing my journey to becoming a Ironman !! You’ll be back stronger and better 💪🏾🧜♀️
While I can only imagine how much this one hurt... You are and will always be a massive inspiration role model and real superhuman🙌 No matter the result 🔥
Ok, two things: One- you are a LEGEND! Any triathlete at any level knows how hard that decision must’ve been. Takes real guts to listen to your body. And two: Reese is hilarious. And you two are kick-ass!!
It was great seeing you race over the livestream! You are a queen, not just the queen of Kona but a queen all around! We love and support you! Now go enjoy some gluten-free pastries and heal up :)
This must have been a hard message to record. You are an incredible athlete, your work rate, energy and what you give back to your fans is outstanding. Your positivity and resilience is world class and we all 💯 know you will come back stronger 💪
Dear Lucy, It is important to recognize that emotional stress, the stress you mention inside and outside of triathlon, has an impact equivalent to or greater than training. Effectively, you suffered as though you had doubled your training volume. Everyone here hopes you will be at your best in Nice! Please continue to inspire us.
Has anyone heard how ashleigh's rehab is going post hamstring injury in London? Glad you feeling stronger lucy. Everyone is going to go nuts when you do get your 1st place. This sport has a fantastic group of top notch pro athletes. Fantastic event to watch.
Hold your head high. I feel like every Triathlete has had a moment in a race where they had to make a similar difficult decision. You want to keep going, but sometimes it is just better to stop. You are amazing!
I understand the feelings you mist be going through at the time of this video but you definitely made the right call putting your long term health ahead of any short term glory. It's a really important lession for athletes of all ages amd stages. It's a huge call when you're in a spotlight but it's the type of roll model behaviours people need to see in this "all or nothing" world. This little Kiwi is thankful you're ok 🇳🇿
People had speculated you had rolled your ankle. Glad that didn't happen. But any calf/achilles issue is no joke. Rest and heal up and we'll see you on the race course and cheer when you're ready!
She legit told people on the day that she rolled her ankle. I think she said this because she didn't want people thinking her Kona injury was still there or re-surfacing
We look up to you no matter what ! We stand proud behind you Lucy 🥰
Thank you for the support ❤️
Was a braver decision to pull out than to keep going - you have set a good example to younger athletes - do what you need to do and don’t worry about others ❤
Thank you! Definitely, had to put health first ❤️🩹
Really good point. I hate that ‘death before DNF’ thing especially for youngsters.

We are behind you every step of the way Lucy!! ❤
Usually it's a braver decision to keep going than to pull out. But since we're talking about triathlon here, you're probably right.

Hope to see you crushing it soon . Also Reece is the best . Made me laugh and think about the time he let you wax him on one of your videos 😂😂
Glad to hear no serious issues and thanks to Reece for the skincare tips 😂
Perseverance: See LCB.
(Kudos to Reece for his involvement in every way...including the quest for extending youthful appearances. Ha! ...good sport).
You will be back stronger!
Glad to see Lucy in good spirits, and Reece stealing the show this video. 😂
Finally a cosmetics sponsor! I hope you get even more support.
Lucy you're still the GOAT. You won kona.
We want to see LCB at LA2028 Olympics in the 100K format. Will it be possible?
Your disappointment is understandable, but its one of the reasons it's so easy to cheer you on.
Ciao Lucy, I wanted to tell you that you are a formidable athlete, as well as being a beautiful women’s. Un bacio from Roma. Strength 💪🏻
Reese is hilarious 😂

Ironman Nice. All eyes. Good luck Lucy. I know you can do this.
What is the reason for having a rear break on the left side? @2:54
Reece should sell beauty products !! He is amazing at it.
On a brighter note at least we now know what the phantom of the opera does on his day off 😅
Never give up
