"I played a lot of NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube growing up, and you could get away with it, and I never knew if it would actually work." Well, turns out it does!
Larson tried it first at Darlington last year and it didn't work out for him. Probably didn't let go of the steering wheel like Chastain did and let the centrifugal force steer the car along the wall?
Oh yeah! "Full committed" was an understatement! We were almost literally rolling on the floor, and I'm wiping tears out of my eyes every time I see the replay!😂😂😂
From barely being able to afford sticker tires to making it to the Championship 4 in two years. Chastain has had an absolutely insane career 180 and good for him!
I never really knew what , BALLS TO THE WALL MEANT , now i do . Just plain awesome . 10th to 5th , I hope he gets the Championship . that right there will be in nascar's history book
I think Chastain just put everybody on NOTICE. INCREDIBLE. Best move I've ever seen and I been watching Nascar since the late 60s. He is a throw back to the old days, whatever it takes. He just earned a new fan. 👍👍🏁🏁💪💪
I am speechless. Incredible. I'm an F1 fan and basically never watch NASCAR, but seeing this on UA-cam - that's one of the all time best moves I have ever seen in motorsport.
Larson did it also at Darlington going for the win but no one has definitely executed it as well as Chastain. Honestly not sure if anyone legitimately has made it work. Both in Edwards's and Larson's cases they just made the race closer than it should have been rather than made the pass.
That was the most brilliant, stupid, insane, gutsy, idiotic, brave, risky, exciting, outrageous, ridiculous, and outright unbelievable move I have ever seen in auto racing.
As a lover of NASCAR 2005 from age 12 to this very day, I've done that exact same move many different times. I was already a Chastain fan but now I'm a fan for life.
He is from a small town super close to where I was born so naturally I had to be a fan. To see him win and then pull a move like this is just amazing. Legendary. Let's go fwt that cup!!!
Most unbelievable thing I have ever seen in Nascar!! I have watched it over and over and still fired up. This move will never be forgotten. Young man you just made history and wish nothing but the best for you!!
Congrats Ross - I've been watching you and never took an eye off for a minute. It aint always been pretty, and you've owned your faults - But now? Welcome to the NASCAR film reel OF ALL TIME from now to the end of time. This will be a piece of NASCAR history forever, and it deserves to be. I've seen it all since the 70's, but I've never seen this. Darlington is about as close as anyone has ever sort of/kind of done this but not quite successfully. The look on Justin Marks' face was worth every bit of damage that happened. Would love to see Pitbull's face watching that - Most have seen it on a racing sim game, but not on the track - Prepare for the incoming fire, it's going to divide people but you can call it flying, or falling with grace, but when you plan it and pull it off, ...... can't fault it.
This move can't be done on 99% of the tracks... This track is quite literally one of the only ones something like this would work on. Not only that, what is there to be worried about? It's not like somebody would try this mid race, it would more than likely take them out of the race, it's something you would do on the very last lap, and 9/10 nobody is going to try that while they are in 10th place... He only did it because it was his ticket to the Championship.
I was listening on Sirius and when they announced that Denny Hamlin was out I actually jumped up and down with excitement and then I saw the move by Ross....WOW
I'm a Larson fan who has tried somewhat similar things but always pulled for Ross in trucks and Xfinity because of his aggressive driving but that will go down in history as the most badass move ever 😂
I was a Larson fan for the last few years even before he got suspended. But this year I was watching Chastain bery closely and making this move just made him my favorite driver
I want to know what was going through the other drivers heads when Ross went full send around that corner lol. The view from the onboard cameras looked crazy!
Ross has been reckless and gone against the code multiple times in the last couple of years….that being said, he pulled off the greatest (and not being hyperbolic) last lap move in Racing (not just NASCAR) history. No matter what this guy ever does going forward, he will be immortalized because of what he did today!!!!
lol, he even said something like "pretty easy move to execute." I think he forgot the other times it's been tried and hasn't worked. Hamlin just can't accept that Chastain is dominating this rivalry.
That will go down is the single greatest move ever pulled in racing of any kind. That will go around the world, even F1 drivers will see that and say to themselves "damn, if only we didn't run open wheels"
The real "slingshot engaged!" move! LOL I prefer to call it "pinball launch move" because it's just like when you launch a ball in a pinball machine and it shoots out fast around the curve.
The guy just cemented his place amongst the greats of NASCAR, 'cause nobody has never seen anything similar in the 75 years NASCAR has been going, and people will forget the guy that actually won the race ages before anybody forgets the man with the huge brass balls. Even Richard Petty was impressed, and he's about as close to a living legend that you can get in that paddock. I don't even watch NASCAR, but this guy's one of the good ones, and I salute his temerity because we both love jumping in feet first by the look of it.

The more I play the replays the more incredible it looks especially the in car footage from the other cars.

Ross made a move that even Dale Sr. would be proud of, heck even jealous of.

This is up there with Dale's pass in the grass or Petty's crew pushing him across the line. This has to go down as one of the greatest NASCAR moments.

This is way beyond....

This dude has some balls. That was the single coolest event in Nascar in a very long time, if ever.
Straight outta Days of Thunder! Ross Chastain is a LEGEND in NASCAR now!!! That. Was. AWESOME!!!

Chastain literally threw a hail mary and it was good I never thought someone would actually try that move in an actual race
Carl Edwards did with Jimmy Johnson, it didn't work for Carl but it did this time.
Larson did it also at Darlington going for the win but no one has definitely executed it as well as Chastain. Honestly not sure if anyone legitimately has made it work. Both in Edwards's and Larson's cases they just made the race closer than it should have been rather than made the pass.
I don't think it will be allowed after this cause it is very dangerous thing to do.

I agree!
Lol as someone who don't know real racing like me, it just looks awesome to me 😅
I fully agree! Absolutely amazing moment. The guy needed a single corner to become a legend!
He was just 20th im the standings last year, if you showed this to me a year ago I would be stunned!
It was completely insane to see how fast he passed all those cars in 3 & 4!! Go Ross!!!
BIGGEST MOVE IN NASCAR HISTORY BY FAR
