- American professional eater Randy Santel versus Star Rover Sound's "Old 76er" Prime Ribeye Steak Challenge hosted by Star Rover Sound Steakhouse in the Germantown area of Nashville, Tennessee!! While back home at our new house in Nashville, Tennessee, @KatinaEatsKilos and I decided to head over to Star Rover Sound in the Germantown area of Nashville, so we could each attempt their newer and still undefeated "Old 76er" Steak Challenge. Katina went first, and then I had 1 hour to eat a giant roast-sized 76oz slab of prime ribeye beef steak served with a large side salad topped with bacon bits, a yeast bread roll covered with butter, a basked of fries & hand-dipped onion rings, and more!! The beer by Bearded Irish Brewing in the video is/was just optional and not required, and the chocolate chess pie featured in the video is/was optional as well. I was trying to become only the second person to win the $100 "76er" ribeye steak dinner meal free plus a sweet T-shirt and spot on Star Rover Sound's Wall of Fame. BIG thanks to everyone with Star Rover Sound in the Germantown area of Nashville, Tennessee for the wonderful food, drinks, dessert, and hospitality!! Special thanks also to all our amazing friends who came up that Friday evening to watch and meet us!! Had the pleasure of waiting in line at a local Sub shop (with healthy vegetables) with Randy. I Turned around and I said..”you sure look like a professional eater I follow on UA-cam, Randy Santel. Pause for a beat… then he smiles and sticks out a GIANT PAW. I mean significant “handage!” We chatted for a minute. He couldn’t have been nicer. Those who haven’t yet subscribed, he is most worthy….as is his Sweetheart Katina (Eats Kilos). That’s one prodigious eating duo.
That's funny because as I watched this I thought, wow his hands must be huge because that fork looks tiny. 😁

Hey Randy, that reminded me of that movie The Great Outdoors. Fun fact: The “Old 96er” is a significant element in the 1988 comedy film “The Great Outdoors”. It refers to a massive 96-ounce prime-aged beef steak served at a fictional restaurant called Paul Bunyan’s Cupboard. The steak is a central plot point in the movie, as the character Chet Ripley (played by John Candy) attempts to consume the entire steak, including gristle, to earn a free meal for his family. The scene has become a memorable and iconic moment in the film.

As a viewer I like challenges like this where it's not just Neverending gratuitous slop to break records. You know it's getting crazy when we actually start hoping nobody dies
When I first started watching these "professional" eaters, I got a kick out of it. Many years later, whenever I come across a video like this I wonder how goofy the YT algo really is. Not to demean or disrespect Randy, he's awesome at what he does. I watched the whle video in about a minute. I get sick to my stomach watching these "professional" eaters pound down these massive amounts of food now. 76 ounces of what really looks like an awesome piece of beef sounds heavenly. Reality is, I can't even put down a 16 ounce cut these days. Getting old sucks. In my prime, I could put away a 32 ounce cut with enough time and feel somewhat human afterward. Now if I eat too much I feel like..well you know. Congrats Randy, that was some kinda eatin man. Cheers

That looked well cooked with a perfect sear. I often buy the whole scotch/cube roll as we cal it here ( rib eye in the us) and save a nice roast chunk.....smoked over cherry wood and seared to finish........great piece of meat second only to what we call rump cap ( picanha)
