Funny. That shot will create a scar what will stay with her forever, as a reminder of that period in her life when allowed herself to lose control, follow her passions, and had a taste of what real and passionate love actually feels like, instead of being just a contract between two decent and successful and harmless parties. She will remember Juan Antonio every time she looks at that scar.
Love? She was just a vessel for his narcissistic needs . He didn’t care about her when she told her she was married he insisted on seducing her, when she told him it meant something to her he scoffed and told her she’s married and he likes her friend .. then when he’s alone and has no one (with her still married) he acts as if she meant something to her. She is simply a placeholder and he’s a narcissist.
At 2:10 does Maria Elena again say: "I had bad dreams and I'm very nervous," like she did at the breakfast scene earlier in the movie with Cristina and Juan Antonio? If so, genius!
He’s playing victim? I think Vicky is playing victim in a situation she continues to choose to mix herself in. Bardem knows exactly what he’s doing and likes it
@@SharkAcademy I don't think Vicky is playing a victim here. "Playing victim" signifies thinking yourself to be unfairly targeted negatively, but here Vicky isn't experiencing that. She genuinely finds out for the first time in her life how "free" and "invigorating" being impulsive can be, and thus, she's torn between impulsive, exciting danger and calm, boring safety. But the gunshot wound finally jars her back into reality and what she wants in the long term. It's Maslow's hierarchy of needs - you have to get "safety" first before wanting "love and belonging". But I agree that Bardem is well aware of his actions. He might be deluding himself a bit by talking about flowery, poetic lines of romance and love and passion, but yes, he's still fully and unapologetically aware of his actions.
People want to dismiss that by using “love” or “passion” but they’re all genuinely crazy. Exactly, he’s keeping crazy women around, and going after married women, that’s on him, but he’s single and the women are choosing to continue to do what they so
It's not just she is cheating her husband but also she is confusing the memories in her body, it's a great psychological and physical damage. That's why marrying one partner throughout life is a great thing. Yogic sciences spread throughout the world
Penelope Cruz is a seriously talented actor, in addition to having the looks. She is in a lot of very good movies like Blow and Abre Los Ojos (The original version of Vanilla Sky)
Penelope’s acting this the best part. The ending is pretty “meh” from an entertainment perspective but it’s the drama and the “passion” keep things going. The movie doesn’t leave a long lasting impression, or anything deep, but it’s fun and engaging. It’s a good movie to watch on a flight or a night in if you haven’t seen it.

I wouldn’t say it’s just white folks but rather, many other folks in general don’t take relationships serious. I know tons of black and Asian friends who treat relationships as transactional. Like, they look at the other person and see what they can benefit. Can they provide a good physical experience, can they provide better work opportunities, can they provide connections, can they provide a good social status. White folks do the same thing, so it’s not just them.

Rebecca hall is absolutely smoking in this film
