A former French Rafale pilot, who has a youtube channel with no political stands and pure technical informations, stated months ago that if F-16s were to be used in Ukraine, there would necessarily be high casulaties ( mostly for the sake of achieving their missions ) and that would be a considerable shock to the public opinion, who hold aircrafts in a high, rather unrealistic, regard ( as some politics do as well ). He pointed out that it could be a political reason to drag it down.
This situation reminds me of that prediction. No matter what happened it proves how dangerous the situation is. And losing a pilot is catastrophic as well, their experience is hard to replace.

It never happened. Both sides make up numbers for propoganda. Russia has claimed to destroy 3x the number of planes that Ukraine EVER HAD. Go look at the claimed kills and compared them to the objective estimates. Russia is full of it.

Air superiority has a specific meaning. It means you can fly sorties over enemy airspace, mostly uncontested. Neither side has air superiority. Russia does not either.
The Russian pilots have a technique, where they fly to the edge of the radar envelope and launch 1500 pound glide bombs at the Ukrainian positions the Ukrainians don’t have anything like it.They also have swarms of lancet drones and cruise missiles in numbers the Ukrainians can’t match so the pilots don’t have to risk themselves just last week 7 Ukrainian mig 29s were shoot down and they lost most of there 6 planes that were modified to launch the storm shadow cruise missiles when the air field was hit with Kinzel hypersonic missiles. Ukraine is not on par with Russia Anymore if it ever was in the first place I mean the Russians have destroyed 3 Ukrainian army’s there trying to make a forth now by conscripting women as they simply don’t have the manpower anymore

Well, we know Russia has been using Mig 31M's more frequently, they can detect AWAC-sized planes at a range of 400km with it's phased radar array so Mig 29's at maybe 300km and the R-37's that we know are also being used has a range of 400km. Flying high reduces the range of incoming missiles while extending theirs, also flying high means low-flying aircraft can be easily detected as there are fewer objects interfering with detection.
The real mystery is the pilots report no radar lock and that the nearest Russia plane be over 400 km away. What the hell.

The MIG 29 was produced in 1977. The F-16 was produced in 1976. How can the older F-16 be more advanced than the MIG-29, they were both produced 47 years ago.
It's all about upgrade with weaponry, software, and new engines. Body design can stay the same but all three upgraded can be deadly

beacuse of the updates. the name and basic look of F-16 remained constant, every other thing has been changed / updated to the lasted standards. and by default american fighthers had better avionics than their russian counterparts of the same era.

With Russian MiG-31s, Su-57s and AWACS patrolling? Not really.
The MiG-31 was specifically designed to hunt terrainfollowing bombers and cruisemissiles back in the 1980s, and the upgrades it has had since has only made it's ability to do so improve hugely. Remember, this was the aircraft which in the 1980s, mostly by accident ended up being the first effective "anti-stealth" fighter. As it's overpowered and highly advanced radar and datalinking allowed it to target stealth aircraft at several times longer range than anything else.
And Russia has recently started using the R-37M missile in larger numbers. The hypersonic one with a range of 400+km. They were designed to take out AWACS and similar large high value targets at extreme range, but Russia is now massproducing them and using them "as normal".
And all Russian fighters are datalinked to the groundbased airdefences. If an aircraft detects a target, the best suited S-400 launcher can take it out, guided by the fighter radar. And the S-400s recently got a new missile to play with, 380km range, essentially doubling its effective range.
And the Su-57 radar is essentially based on the best qualities of that of the MiG-31, except it has at least 5 forward looking radars which are linked to emulate having a several times more powerful single radar. While still remaining difficult to detect.
And even the "cheaper" Su-35 radar is QUITE good at finding and targeting terrainfollowing targets.

Has the Ukrainian Air Force ever used S-300 missiles against Russian fighter jets? It seems that this hasn't been mentioned at all. Can the Russian S-300's take down F-16'S? How modern will the F-16'S supplied to Ukraine be?
Ukraine of course has used their S-300, but very limited due to the high value of this air defenses as targets. Also some air defense batallions were destroyed early in the operation.
F-16 can be downed almost with any Ground to Air weapon, same as any military aircraft 4th Gen.
The F16 from Denmark and Holland has been worned down they have more than 5000 flight hours so they needs major services on their flight frame.
Also they are not upgraded to the latest versions.
So as everything Ukraine gets it's old and obsolete.

Why would Ukraine think of getting airborne when it knows very well Russian antiaircraft is the best in the world? Russian media could be bluffing to cover the destroyed parked helicopters
The number of people quoting sam ranges as if they actually knew how they work is laughable. Radar may be able to "see" out to 280 miles but that radar has absolutely no clue what they are seeing, nor can they achieve a firing lock. If no "friendly" aircraft are in the area, the a missile can be fired in the general area and hope the missile can bulldog itself into a hit, bulldog meaning it goes active and seeks on it's own.
The s400 for example cannot lock an F35 until about 25 miles, with an F22, even less. Considering over half the s400 uses s300 tech and need very trained crews, effectiveness is a huge issue. russia saying they shot down 7 Ukrainian migs in 24 hours is like saying russia has free speech or free press, it is simply a lie.
So much goes into firing a sam and the performance is dictated by training on both sides and their proper use.

My opinion is that around the West they really want to help Ukraine would not give them f 16 but A 10 for which no special training is required since there are old planes but therefore very effective especially for what Ukraine needs and that is strong support for troops on the ground in counteroffensive, of course the A 10 would be shot down in some numbers but the West has enough of these planes as Ukraine does there are enough pilots for this plane to help Ukraine much more if Leonard tanks and other armor from the west

The A-10 are also highly upgraded even compared to Desert Storm. After Iraq & Afghanistan many were updated with new avionics.

About 10 days ago, 13 of 15 Storm shadows were shot down over Sevastopol. also yesterday, the Russian and Ukrainian communities published a video showing storm shadow crashing into an open field where no one is due to the impact of an electronic warfare system
