    This is a fantastic list. Many organizations I’ve never heard of but look amazing! As a nurse, I’ve been thinking of taking a gap year after the pandemic and chillaxing exploring ways to use my skill set outside of the hospital.

    Thank you for this great video. Gap years aren’t really a thing in the US and are even highly discouraged, so I had no idea all the cheap ways to do it. My son is in high school and not sure what he wants to go to college for so I think a gap year is great.
    I will add that if a person does plan on traveling the US, they need to keep in mind that it’s super huge and there’s not the type of transportation setup that Europe has. I can’t imagine traveling without a car. Only cities like NYC, Seattle, New Orleans, and San Francisco have good public transportation. There’s a huge chunk of the country that isn’t even that impressive to visit and take days to drive through. I recently found out that in most other countries, people don’t spend days driving to 1 place.

    Teaching ESL is for sure a nice way to work abroad! It's the simplest option for getting into it. Sometimes when you're in the country for a while and learn the language, other opportunities can come up too.

      How well must you know the rules of English? Like must you have a degree in English studies or be a very good tutor? I would love to teach especially if I am trained on how to actually properly teach English. English is my first language and I am very fluent and have a for sure above average understanding and comprehension of it but I don’t know how to properly teach it.

    this is a great video. i agree that you dont NEED tonnes of money to work overseas however I definitely do recommend saving some money before you go. It's more responsible and safe to have a bit of a safety net, you don't wanna be broke the whole time.

    I believe in most courtiers when working for longer than three months you need a visa and for Australia you need £10,000 secured; Causes a big problem if you do not have savings.

    • @Joelfriend
      @Joelfriend  3 роки тому +3

      I'm not sure about other countries but for Australia, you MAY be asked to provide evidence for adequate funds of AUD $5000 (£2700) and return flight.

    • @Joelfriend
      @Joelfriend  3 роки тому +2

      If you wanted to get around this you could get a loan or borrow money from your parents for a short amount of time until you've got yourself a job in Australia. Obviously, it's not possible for everyone but could be a way around this. :)

    i'd really appreciate tips for people who are taking gap years because of their mental health state. like for example i must take a gap year for personal reasons and i have anxiety and had depression. i really want to do these things and adventures but like it is really really hard for people with anxiety or with bad mental health in general. what to do then? how to plan it? how to overcome fear?

    • @MultiStormish
      @MultiStormish 3 роки тому +6

      you know i understand the fear. But most often its just a matter of just doing it. when u put pressure on yourself u preform so. just do it like Shia LaBeouf said.
