The WORST FBS Program in College Football... (Kent State Football)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 лис 2024
- Kent State is one of the worst teams in all of college football when you look at their history as a whole. They have only been to five bowl games, have won only one of those games, have only one conference championship in school history, and have only had a handful of winning seasons in their over 100-plus years of history. This is the story of Kent State Football, the worst team at the FBS level and maybe the perfect team to rebuild in NCAA 25.

they punch above their weight in terms of NFL players tho. james harrison, antonio gates, jack lambert, josh cribbs and julian edelman
Antonio Gates didn’t play a snap at Kent State…all he did was basketball!
@@kgizzle92got us to the elite 8 though! Our bball team is pretty solid
dri archer was pretty fast. too bad he didn't pan out
I agree! They breed dawgs💯
Can't read Can't write Kent St.!!!
I always wanted Saban to complete a full turnaround of his alma mater program as HC once he left Alabama. But now I know that he tried & they picked someone else over him he’d never stoop that low again lol.
Wow. They probably be a powerhouse right now
Imagine picking anyone over Saban
Kent State’s history is fascinating. Ridiculously good NFL players across decades. Yet consistently so bad. The 2012 season was fun though
Kent State alum here. Graduated in 2020. Never wanted to go to Kent due to living so close to the university growing up and lack of good football but it happened. Kent is a cool small city. The university itself isn’t honestly bad at all. I was in Greek life as well which helped me enjoy going there a bit more. It’s sad but truthfully there is no presence around the football team. No one cared to go to games and we definitely just understood we sucked at everything. If there was any sport to try to go enjoy it was basketball. Now I live in Knoxville, TN and I cannot wait for this football season because Kent is coming down here to play the Vols and I am so amped to watch us get blown out in Neyland stadium. I might be one of the few Kent State fans in the stadium 😂 but much love to KSU and the experience I had there as a student!
Same same same
You gotta do one of these for Eastern Michigan. The history is insane
He did btw
Speaking of Kent, I thought Dri Archer was gonna be that dude in the pros lol, I love Bowling Green never looked forward to when we had to play them 😭
kent state was my first ncaa 14 rebuild because of the LEGENDARY Dri Archer. Dude had like 4000 total yards his sr year for me between rushing, receiving and returning. think he had a return td every game too 😭 i miss him
Why would you fired a coach who is raising graduation rates and developing character in the students? That's EXACTLY what a college athletic program should do.
It should also win. This isn’t little league
The description of their "credentials" reminds me heavily of another "K-State": the Kansas State Wildcats, prior to the 1990s. Many of the numbers were similar, though Kansas State had only one bowl game to the five that Kent State has. Like the Golden Flashes, they were often described as the "worst" college football program (a 1989 Sports Illustrated article dubbed them "Futility U") at the top level (then called Division 1-A, now called the FBS), were neglected in favor of the school's basketball program, also had only one conference title in school history and had a total of just 5 winning seasons from 1935 to 1990. Kent State just needs to find their own version of Bill Snyder to turn them around...
How saban gonna build bama into a powerhouse and let Kent state be worst school in football 😅🫣
If it makes them feel any better they might not even be the worst KSU this year depending on how smooth Kennesaw's transition is.
Kent State is just waiting for it's opportunity to break out, I've been to every home game starting in 2020(band member) and even when we lose, it's always the end of the game that gets us, if we can ever figure out how to finish games, we'll definitely see more success
My dad played football at Kent State in the early 80s. He played two years and they went 0-11 and 1-10. Also fun fact about that 2011 team. If Kent beat Northern Illinois in the MAC championship they would have gotten an invite to play in the Orange bowl. Northern ended up playing Florida State in the Orange Bowl that year. Both Kent and Northern were ranked heading into that MAC championship game.
I'm a current employee at Kent State and I feel like the problem with the team is when they finally get a coach who starts to win, they always leave for a bigger school as soon as they get the chance. When that happens, the program has to start all over again. When coach Lewis was here the vibe was so different! He definitely changed the culture here but when he left, it gutted that program because all of the better players on the team transferred. I hope coach Burns can turn it around but it doesn't look promising honestly.
The battle for the wagon wheel has always been one of my favorite college football rivalries
As a Kent student with some insight into the athletics department, our Athletics director and school doesn't support our sports teams much in any regard. The pool was intentionally created too short and shallow to dive into with no blocks for starts to ensure a swim team couldn't continue after they demolished the original competition pool and ended the team. Terrible choices in coaching and incompetent leaders truly kill an athletics program and student culture.
They just lost to St. Francis, a borderline division 2 program.
who lost to Dayton the week before
Your not gonna tell me Akron isn’t worse then them
Akron beat them head to head last year. Unless you’re talking about all time records, which I haven’t done enough research on to know
Akron beat them last year in the Battle for The Worst Team in FBS in 2023. Kent was 1-11 with their only win over an FCS team that had a 3-8 record.
Kent is like 220 games under 500 lol
You’re* than*
Akron has a .471 all time win percentage. Kent State has a .394 all time win percentage. Akron sucks, but they're not the epitome of suck that Kent State is.
I've always thought that, even though not following the program. It always seemed they lost when scores were posted. I was a freshman in college in 1969, so that brings back some unique sensations when hearing the name.
I was at the Penn State game you showed. It was BRUTAL!
Doing my rebuild now. Lost conference championship but we have a bowl game coming plans to win it tonight after work lol
Im a badger fan, and went to my first badger game at camp randall when they beat kent state 54-7. When we were leaving, a group of students were chanting "KENT IS NOT A STATE" while walking out of the stadium.
Hey go easy on our MAC brethren lol
I mean they good at making all time good coaches
They gave Georgia a good fight the other year only losing by 17 to a national title Georgia team in 2022
whats-funny-is-that-in-my-NCAA-football-video-game-from-2002-or-2004-I-played-like-12-plus-seasons-on-franchise-mode-as-Utah-and-Kent-St-was-a-perennial-top-5-team-in-the-top-25-rankings-and-faced-them-like-three-times-in-the-title-game
Why do you type like that

Kent read, Kent write, Kent State.
They used to turn out great NFL guys. Josh Cribbs, Edelman, James Harrison and Hall of Famer Jack Lambert. Hell, Antonio Gates did not even play college football! These Golden Flashers were no flashes in the pan! But now they seem to be falling on some hard times.
I WILL try to rebuild them
My dynasty that I’m running in EA College Football - I’m the DC - I have A LOT of work to do 🤦🏻♂️
And YES - please do an EA dynasty of Kent State on your channel - YOU have AMAZING content!!! 🏈⚡️🏈
my freshman year OC played tackle at kent state and pancaked joey bosa. that was his favorite moment
Interesting how coach Burns and coach Fleck went 1-11 in their very first season as a head coach. I think learning under coach Fleck all those years will help coach Burns turn around the program.
It's worth adding that Kent State is more famous for a massacre that took place on it's campus than anything else: (mention Kent State to anyone over 50 and this is all they will think about. I would imagine this has held them back over the years.)
"The Kent State shootings (also known as the Kent State massacre or May 4 massacre[3][4][5]) were the killing of four and wounding of nine unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on the Kent State University campus. The shootings took place on May 4, 1970, during a rally opposing the expanding involvement of the Vietnam War into Cambodia by United States military forces as well as protesting the National Guard presence on campus and the draft. Twenty-eight National Guard soldiers fired about 67 rounds over 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis."
Julian Edelman came from JUCO to Kent State. Go Pats!
Bowling Green , sister school??
BGSU and KSU were formed the same day by the same legislation in the state of Ohio
got these boys hosting clemson in the 1st round of the playoffs 🙂↕️ Ulatowski is a legend #FlashFast
You should do a video about how Alabama stole the swag Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern with first called Blue tide!!!!! Then Alabama became the crimson Tide!!!!!!
Got some nice jerseys tho! 🤣
I won a natty with them yesterday on ps5
Just to show how bad UTEP is Kent beat them 54 13!!!! Utep is the worst college team.in history!!!!

Kent State isnt worst this year like last year.
Can they really be worse than akron?
I have to use these bums for college football 25. 😂😡
118-0 really 😂😂😂
Akron is worse. Check that program out
Not so fast. Umass is right there
Current Kent State student here. Kent will never be good! They don't prioritize football and don't give two fucks about the team, even though it brings in more money than any other program they have on campus. They are content to be terrible and a laughing stock. Terrible team, terrible stadium, terrible administration. They are more worried about burning through money with woke initiatives and telling the may 4th story over and over like a broken record than achieving anything of note athletically or academically.
Recent grad here, you hit the nail on the head but I still love them anyways
You’re 💯 percent right!!!
@@HezzeeNo he isn't due to the woke thing.
