I start saving and oven drying bread around middle of October, I cut it in big chunks before I dry it, less messy when you cut it before it's dry. Nothing better than stuffing with gravy, yum! You are right about store bought bread 'crumbs' I once bought a well known brand name bag of stuffing bread, it was almost all tiny crumbs.
Absolutely love the new format. One can easily jump from video to written instructions, or just pull down box description for ingredient list. Recipes and ideas always on point, and now super conveniently accessed. THANK YOU, LAURA!
I use leeks all the time and hardly ever have dirt. I thought it was a myth until I bought some in England and was amazed at the dirt inside. It’s worth the effort though.
I cook my dressing in bread pans to increase the crispy edges. They fit around other side dishes I’m reheating too. Add ins are celery, grated carrots, onions, parsley, mushrooms. I used to throw in a can of clams juice and all like my Grama.
I made this today because I could. It was unbelievable!! It would have been a little easier if I had had the written recipe but I don't think it could get any better. You go girl.
Stuffing is not just bread crumbs vegetables & chicken stock it’s also other things you do that make it unique and delicious 🤤 Great job Laura keep up the good work 😎😉👍
Laura i always love to see how other people make their stuffing, i make mine like my mom did only i make up alot more i like triple it because my family loves it so much and we love to have lots. The key to my stuffing is lots of butter and of course i add my veggies, onions, celery, parsley, apple and mushrooms. i add thyme and poultry seasoning as well as salt and pepper. I really like this recipe i may try this when i have a smaller crowd, leeks are interesting to use, we make leek and potato soup alot with them. Your the best Laura. Thank you. Your apron is really nice.
Stuffing, crusty stuffing, is my favorite side and this recipe "speaks" to me. Never used leeks but I'm up for it❤. As I Iove my "day after thanksgiving" sammy, - on top of my juicy white- meat turkey, I will crown it with lots of stuffing with perhaps a little bit of gravy, Walaaaa, perfection. Happy Pre-Thanksgiving...
Laura recipe is incredibly close to what my mother made. One exception is adding chicken to the homemade stock and simmer. She actually just used hit Italian and fennel Italian sausage. She was a butcher and made her own sausage. I'm going to add sweet sausage this Year. Thank you.
Hi Laura! I don’t live in the US and know that i won’t be doing this recipe because we don’t do thanksgiving where i live but i still watch your videos because i love them. Keep em going Laura. ❤
OMG!!! This is everything! Laura you gotta try this with some black olives for stuffed peppers instead of rice... my grandmother made them this way and I never knew them with rice until I was an adult ❤
Hi Laura this stuffing looks delicious Iam not use to bread stuffing my nonna and my mom usual stuff the turkey with a meatloaf meat mix with breadcrumbs and spices and things but this looks good I’ll think I’ll make this to try thanks for this yummy recipe take care
Absolutely awesome as always. This was a big hit at Thanksgiving and really easy to pass on the recipe when all you have to do is "share it". Definitely will be making this again.
Hi Laura! I'm so happy you are sharing this stuffing recipe with us. Sourdough bread is such an awesome idea. I love the idea of three types of sausage, sweet, spicey and Italian. 🤔 Sweet, Spicey, Italian sounds like Laura 🥰 Oh my, look at that goodness. I love crispyness and those look sublime! Gosh, you have my mouth watering. Thank you so much for this recipe, Laura. This is getting made for Thanksgiving and again and again.
Stuffing is my family’s favorite .. first to go .. so good heavenly yummy 🤤 My mom always stuffed the bird. Best part was a crispy piece on the outer edge …… yummm similar recipe but no sausage
I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to cooking but this is giving me Italian stuffing typa vibes. I enjoyed watching the video nonetheless. It’s always interesting to see different recipes
This is really the only type of appropriate sausage we have in the northeast. Otherwise we have breakfast sausage, bratwurst, hotdog, or kilbasa basically lol. Not sure what other types we’d use.
Picky kids and a picky me do you think if you put the veggies in a food processor or omitted them would the flavour be the same? Can’t stand a crunchy/green dressing. And I feel like poultry season is a must as well
If you wanted to do a vegetarian version would any of the faux meats work or would I just skip the sausage and up the veggies and butter a bit to make up for the bulk and the fat?
Nothing is better than good homemade stuffing and not boxed yuck. When I make stuffing I add some dried cranberries and a good white wine. Low sodium stock. Use mild italian sausage. Fresh herbs and some fresh.
Looks delicious! I’ve been making your sweet potato casserole that you posted a few years ago ever since it was posted and it’s always a huge hit! Just wondering why the bread needs to be dried if it’s getting liquids absorbed into it? Is drying the bread very important?
very nice, but if u want 2 take it over the top, u must sprinkle it with chopped roasted chestnuts. Not 2 chopped. It gives it a crunch and a light sweetness that is just like Ambrosia... I also hope u try maybe a little and if u like it, yer welcome... enjoy !!!!
Sounds good! Planning on trying it this Thanks Giving! (I may still have to add my newest favorite stuffing ingredient... has anyone here ever added chopped yellow squash yet!? Yum 😊.)
I am a southern cornbread dressing snob. This would be a firm no for us! But food makes all things joyful regardless...blessings in the coming holidays.
I wish she would say how to make day before or a few days before, like at what point you can just pause and keep in fridge until Thanksgiving and then continue.
I know, but I also asked if it would say that stuff in the planner but no response.. I wanted to buy it but there was so description and no response.. but thank you for ur help and Happy Thanksgiving!
Sorry Laura, but if it's not cooked in the bird, it's not STUFFING, but its dressing. When I cooked professionally, I made tons of dressing for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for my own dinners I always stuff the bird.
I knew someone was going to bring this up. 😅 I've always called it stuffing as well, but I noticed in the South (where I currently live) they call it dressing. It may just be a northern vs. southern saying.
I also add chopped mushrooms and I sauté in butter for like five minutes, some chopped walnuts
And apples.

We use store bought bread stuffing, and had not much crumbs.
Your sausage stuffing has been my go to for years. It gets rave reviews EVERY TIME. Thank you, Laura!!

Thank you for putting the ingredients list in the description Laura! We love you ❤️
White bread stuffing is the best!
I make a very similar stuffing and I use leeks and mushrooms. It’s delicious!
I cook my dressing in bread pans to increase the crispy edges. They fit around other side dishes I’m reheating too. Add ins are celery, grated carrots, onions, parsley, mushrooms. I used to throw in a can of clams juice and all like my Grama.

The recipe is there and also you can print it . Select where it says more and there you will see it
Omg! It’s Laura! I didn’t even recognize her. I haven’t seen her videos since Covid. I recognize her voice. I love her. I’m glad I found her again.
Stuffing is not just bread crumbs vegetables & chicken stock it’s also other things you do that make it unique and delicious 🤤 Great job Laura keep up the good work 😎😉👍

Sausage stuffing is my all time fave thanksgiving side . This looks amazing

Hello Laura, a no-knead dinner roll recipe please! Every recipe of yours is spot on!
Chop in some granny smith apples and dash of apple cider vinegar. It cuts through the grease and adds a nice zest to it.

Hi Laura..this is such an easy recipe-I love stuffing so much….what a beautiful dish!…Another home run Laura!👌👌👌😁😁😁….and your apron is lovely!❤️❤️❤️
Stuffing is my family’s favorite .. first to go .. so good heavenly yummy 🤤
My mom always stuffed the bird.
Best part was a crispy piece on the outer edge …… yummm similar recipe but no sausage
Ok fine! I’m doing it this year.
Awesome recipe chef, please show Italian stuffed braciole and lamb chops recipe please
I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to cooking but this is giving me Italian stuffing typa vibes.

Good afternoon Laura i love your stuffing recipe its my go too ...i made it last month for our Canadian Thanksgiving ,cant wait to make this one ❤
Thank you friend!!
Leeks are incredible
I like my stuffing mushy and gelatinous. With crispy edges LOL ...so I'd use a deep small casserole dish lol
Picky kids and a picky me do you think if you put the veggies in a food processor or omitted them would the flavour be the same? Can’t stand a crunchy/green dressing. And I feel like poultry season is a must as well
Why was that quote of needing a nap for A FEW DAYS after you eat it, soooo relatable? Holiday food-coma really is a thing here 😅😅😅💀
Looks amazing. It’s very different from how my mom makes hers as we are from the south. But yeah, my mouth is watering 😂❤
I make the corn bread stuffing w porksaugage.chicken or turkey broth celery .onion.cirn bread cubes pepperidge farm is good
If you wanted to do a vegetarian version would any of the faux meats work or would I just skip the sausage and up the veggies and butter a bit to make up for the bulk and the fat?
sage would make it more traditional Thanksgiving.
Oh yes. You read my mind! Can’t wait to try this. Thank you 😘😘
I would LOVE to see your version of Southern Cornbread Dressing! 😊❤
So beautiful! Will make this!
Thank you Laura, loving the videos here and the prep tips and recipes on Instagram, thank you!
Very nice presentation. I bet it tastes terrific ❤
Nothing is better than good homemade stuffing and not boxed yuck. When I make stuffing I add some dried cranberries and a good white wine. Low sodium stock. Use mild italian sausage. Fresh herbs and some fresh.
oops and some dried herbs
Sounds delicious!!!
Love your channel L
Stuffing looks Fab
Thank you ❤😊🎉
Looks great but I like sage
I wonder if this can be made the day before?? Any advices please!!
I made this recipe last year and everybody loved it. I plan on making 2 pans of it this Thanksgiving.
Hi Laura, this looks incredibly delicious!! Is there a gluten free substitute you would recommend in place of the sourdough bread?
Laura you look great! your face looks young and glowing.
Fantastic video, that looks great!!
This looks amazing!!!!
Looks delicious! I’ve been making your sweet potato casserole that you posted a few years ago ever since it was posted and it’s always a huge hit!
Just wondering why the bread needs to be dried if it’s getting liquids absorbed into it? Is drying the bread very important?
it will be too soggy and result in mush if not dried first. Happy Thanksgiving!
@@citizen321654 thanks for explaining! Happy Thanksgiving!
Making this for this years Thanksgiving...wondering if the pan needs to be greased 🤔
One more question. Can you make this the day before up to putting it in the oven then just bake it on turkey day?
Sounds and looks delicious. Will try.
it helps to cut the leek lenghtwise in half and then run it under the sink so you can get any dirt off the leek. 😊
Thank you for another good stuffing recipe
very nice, but if u want 2 take it over the top, u must sprinkle it with chopped roasted chestnuts. Not 2 chopped. It gives it a crunch and a light sweetness that is just like Ambrosia... I also hope u try maybe a little and if u like it, yer welcome... enjoy !!!!

Planning on trying it this Thanks Giving!
(I may still have to add my newest favorite stuffing ingredient... has anyone here ever added chopped yellow squash yet!? Yum 😊.)
Made it but added walnuts as well. :)
I wonder if you can use ground turkey instead of the sausage? 🤔
Looks yummy
Fantastically delicious ! 😀😀😀😀
Looks delish!!
Love you Laura....but I'm a mixed race blk woman and we don't do any of this. But I'm sure it may be delicious.💞
I am a southern cornbread dressing snob. This would be a firm no for us! But food makes all things joyful regardless...blessings in the coming holidays.
Oof I don’t know if cornbread and snob belong in the same sentence but you stick to those traditions girl!
My family and friends don’t care for cornbread stuffing at all, but we love this one You should give it a try
This looks delicious.
How much is a pound to a cup for the bread?
Will definitely make this👍🇨🇦
I commented before great job 👍😉but this time I added beef kielbasa instead omg 🤤😉try it so good just not to much salt 👀😏👍
Loved this video!!!
That’s a meal all on it’s own.
If you are wondering if it’s worth it to make this. Just do it. It is the gold standard for stuffing.
Delicious ❤
Does the recipe call for a 1/2 lb of sourdough bread or 1.5 lbs?
good job
I was all onboard until the beer went in, never seen that before 🙈🙈
Looks delicious!!! Gonna have to give it a try ☺
I am so making this!!! Thank you
IT IS SUBLIME!!!❤❤❤
Thank you for not adding a fruit basket to your stuffing. I do NOT like fruit in savory dishes. This looks absolutely delicious!
You're the best
I make a similar stuffing recipe! Yummy
I wish she would say how to make day before or a few days before, like at what point you can just pause and keep in fridge until Thanksgiving and then continue.
She has a Thanksgiving planner on her website. May be a little late.
I know, but I also asked if it would say that stuff in the planner but no response.. I wanted to buy it but there was so description and no response..
but thank you for ur help and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yum! I’m making this!
Yassss!!
You gotta have stuffing!
I'm from the south this is a hard firm No! But have a happy holiday season
I'm a Northern Minnesota snob, you can't make Thanksgiving stuffing with out raisins!!! (Refined taste)
we dont have dirty on our leeks in the uk
I guess I'm in the minority for not liking crispy bits in my stuffing (no haters please 😂). I prefer stuffing that is cooked inside the bird.
Why do Trolls give a 'Thumbs Down' on cooking videos? Vegans?
Every plate of stuffing I've ever seen looked beautiful to me?🤣
Hahaha because you know it’s goodness
You are so dang good lookin.
Where’s the cornbread?? ;)
❤❤❤
Sorry Laura, but if it's not cooked in the bird, it's not STUFFING, but its dressing. When I cooked professionally, I made tons of dressing for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for my own dinners I always stuff the bird.
I knew someone was going to bring this up. 😅 I've always called it stuffing as well, but I noticed in the South (where I currently live) they call it dressing. It may just be a northern vs. southern saying.
It's simply how its cooked, as I said if it's cooked inside the bird its stuffing, if it's cooked in a baking dish its dressing.@@jincyk9153
“Dressing” is definitely a southern thing!
WHAT? No cranberry sauce?
Can I _"be"_ more ridiculous, so sad, reminded of Chandler Bing.
Is it just me or is there no volume?
Thats so german (when you replace the sausage with minced meat. What do you americans have with all the sausage? Thats also a german thing!)
Ugh I had high hopes for this but unfortunately it wasn’t great 😔
That looks very dry I like ours moist
🧡💛💚💙
