I agree! I feel like people's (and refs') ideas about offensive fouls have become so skewed that they only see a charge when the defender gets bodyslammed and knocked over from a completely stationary position. The rules as written (and as they were enforced back in the 50's and 60's) make it clear that an offensive player who initiates contact with a defensive player in any way that impedes their progress is committing a foul. These days, the offensive players can just ram into their defenders, who are expected to just take it standing up. It's bizarre to me to hear fans complaining about how basketball has gotten, "so much less physical," when offensive players today can freely push their defenders around in the post, drive straight into opponents' sternums, or Euro-step straight through someone else's body. Sure, defenders aren't allowed to make nearly as much contact, but now instead they're expected to just passively absorb the impacts of 7-ft-tall freak athletes coming at them full speed ahead! If officials want defensive players to fall on the ground less, then they could start by calling offensive fouls without needing to see someone knocked out on the floor!
I think the main issue is not embellishing the contact to get the call but it's the guys hitting the floor when the contact clearly didn't warrant it.
1:28 didn't really look like a flop, that's pretty hard to stay up if the offensive player hits you like that
this might have been the most obvious one lol. In slow motion, he takes the contact, remains straight for a few frames, then folds over 🤣
Ya, 100% disagree. Clearly a flop
i feel like at least half of these are legitimate offensive fouls. It makes it difficult if rules arent followed "by the book".
