Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I just copied your exact setup for my home karaoke system and it is awesome. I’m tech savvy enough to know that things need to be plugged in in order to work, but that’s about the extent of my electronics knowledge. This video made everything so easy, I really appreciate it!
Dude, you’re the only one that has what I needed. I have a KTV set with wireless mic going into mixer similar to yours, but the KTV has mic or rca input to, but doesn’t output to the tv, just it’s own audio. And my tv only has optical out, so I need the two boxes you have there to make my setup work and send it to my soundbar.
Thank you for this very informative and thorough instructional video. Did everything minus the splitter. It took my awhile as I didn’t realize until later that I had to change to Optical output setting to PCM.
Wow, great vid. This is super helpful in my quest to set up a decent karaoke system for my wife. Really appreciate all the responses you offer to your viewers' questions as well.
Thanks for the detailed video my hdmi mixer just died and been looking all over the internet for a better way to setup the karaoke my wife will be so happy Salamat !!
Similar setup here, I went TV > Optical to RCA converter (Amazon) > RCA Input at unpowered mixer (VocoPro) and output to receiver (Denon). I like that you clipped in singing tagalog on your video. Sing on brother.
@@namnam103Have you figured this out? I have the same problem, i bought everything and i can't play both mic and tv audio at the same time 😭 need help
I bought all of this stuff, only difference is using a projector and a receiver. I’m using Apple TV that is plugged into the receiver through hdmi. The only way the microphones work is if I unplug the Apple TV hdmi. It’s basically not splitting the sound allowing me to get the microphone to work at the same time as Apple TV
Any luck. I haven't tried a setup with a projector yet but I know it can work with right hardware. In regards to your sound issue you could try a HDMI splitter ✅amzn.to/3RonqxO.
Awesome detail and layout of the video! Out of many home made karaoke setup videos I've looked at, yours is the most thorough! Valid links, affordable gear and even multiple singer setup links!! And to top it off, you're Filipino! As if that couldn't be any more of a guarantee of a reliable karaoke setup! xD
Thanks so much for detailing this out -- I've just started trying to figure out how to setup a similar karaoke system and you've pretty much answered all my questions!!

Thank you so much, again!!! I set up my last karaoke watching your YT a couple of years ago. N, the repairmen mess up the wires somehow. I searched for your video hoping you still have it up. N, u do! Many thanks!
Hi - I am unable to get sound from the mic - on the optical splitter, I have it connected to the tv, receiver and the audio converter. I have the audio converter connected to line 5/6 to the Yamaha mixer. Do I need to do anything else
By far the most simple clear cut video on how to. Thank you for this. I’m starting my journey now. I see only 2 mic inputs. Will I need to get a different set up for 4 mic 🎤 inputs?
Hi Thanks for creating a how to video on how to set up a karaoke system. I successfully followed your instructions. One thing that I would like to ask is, "Why is only one of the speakers connected to the mixer play the karaoke sound, when the left mic and the right mic has sound coming out of the corresponding left /right speakers?"
I have some old Logitech x540 5.1 channel speakers I like to hook up to my older TV to do some karaoke I'm not sure if I need an adapter for the mixer to the TV or not.
Helpful set up of karaoke system, well detailed thanks for the info....if u dont mind where did u buy your wireless microphone set and kind of brand name? Thanks
Thanks for this detailed video! Question, why do you need an audio splitter? Is there any difference if i just plug the tv direct to the receiver? Thank you!!!
Excellent video! You covered everything from how to stream from the phone/laptop to the TV and setting up/connecting all of the components (TV, receiver, mixer, mic system, converters and cables) with clear and easy instructions and posted links to all the equipment and cables. This is so helpful to me in setting up my karoake systerm. Much appreciated!
Thank you! It doesn't make much difference but I have mine connected to my TV because so the fire TV is always on when I turn my TV on. If you have it connected to your receiver then your fire TV will only work when your receiver is on.
Thanks for the great instruction. Quick question: My receiver does not have the Stream Box input, so which input terminal of the receiver I should connect the Main Output jack from the mixer to?
Hi. Thank you for this helpful video. I am not a techie person but I watched and copied your set up including the wireless microphone device and the kind of mixer you got. I think I got the connections right - TV, speakers, and mixer. However, the microphone device does not produce the sound coming out from the speakers. In short, no sound at all even though it is plugged in. Any idea what’s missing?
Hii i have following system at home as cinema room Denon AVR s970h Focal France sib evo 5.1 Projector Epson 4k Is it safe to connect this setup with speakers of Focal France sib evo 5.1?? Hi what social media you have aside from ur channel here? i want to know more the stuffs i need to buy for our karaoke system..I have only Smart Tv , Yamaha AV receiver and speakers
Great video! What is the two small converters called? Can i still use an old receiver with speakers from 2002 (analoge.) and how can i connect that old system to smart tv? Thanks!
There are many ways. I would try seeing if your TV has a chrome casting feature so you can link up to it via your tablet. In regards to speakers you can chose anything from a simple sound bar to a serious sound system with an amp and all.
Can you let me know please what the Onkyo amp settings are ? As I have bought everything you have I have sound coming through speakers but no mic sound . Could you let me know how you set the Onkyo amp up that is the only thing I am missing . Thank you
With this set up can you use the receiver for home theater for watching movies? Did you use a different input on the receiver like say DVD for the Karaoke set up?
Thanks for the video. I order everything and followed your video step by step, but I can't get it to work. I can't combine the TV and Microphone audio. To hear the TV I have to put it on Input Audio1, and for Microphone it's Audio3. I forgot to mention I'm using a Yamaha receiver RX-V485. Any help will be appreciated.
I don't think you need an analog converter for the Toslink digital output from your tv. You can connect directly to toslink digital input of the receiver. Why would you go back to analog sound of the digital sound is much better? Beside the RCA analog input you connect to that mixer will eventually amplified by your receiver because MIXER OUT goes to any audio input you choose on the receiver. As if you made a two separate ways of your TV Toslink digital output. 1. The easy way , connected directly to receiver tv input. 2. The long way, converting digital output to analog via Audio Mixer then still end up to the receiver on one of audio input.
thank you for the nice tutorial. I wonder with this setup it means that you always take audio from digital out from tv and not the HDM arc. Can you have 5.1 audio signal via an optical cable. I believe 7.1 is not possible. Update: I did mange to run your setup but for me it not necessary to do optical splitter due to I had both HDMI and optic connected and can swich from receiver the input.
Hi there, very helpful and I am working in this settings and there is a connection that goes from your spliter to the TV is that important? Mine says Monitor I don't see in my Onkyo version. Please answer. Thank you!!
I just have the splitter so that I never lose audio regardless of which setting I have my receiver or tv on. You can also use an audio optical cable to go from your TV to receiver.
I try your setup, but I only have sound from TV and not mic. However when I plug the hdmi in receiver, I can get the Mic sound but not the TV sound . Look like it only accept 1 audio at a time.
I have connected my source to my receiver then to tv, this way using optical out from tv to the mixer didn’t work. I think receiver hi jacked the audio. For this to work you have to plugged in directly to tv and audio out to mixer / receiver. I don’t think you have any source connected to receiver to tv, and have karaoke working?
Hi Excellent video but I have a quick question: I’m planing to purchase a projector and use my Apple TV so how should I connect them together with this equipment? I want to keep the audio just for the TV same as yours when I’m watching just a movie using the sound system
Nice video. Question. I have my components in a shelf concealed behind the wall. Maybe 10 feet or less from where we would be using, but not visible as the receiver would be behind the wall. This is a line of sight wireless microphone system?
I tried the exact setup but using a Vizio Soundbar but I connected the mixer to the soundbar using UAX and I feel there is a delay with the microphones, would you know how to fix it? Thanks
The digital converted is necessary if you want everything to sound right. It take the digital signal and converts it into an analog one so the mixer can use it. The mixer takes the sound from the TV and sound from the mic and mixes it together. You can also use the mixer to fine tune the sound output.
Hi. I set up exacty the way you did, but got sound either from tv or sound from stream box. Not together. If i switch my Onkyo receiver to TV only sound from tv can be heard. Switch to stream box, only sound from mic can be heard. Plead help. Thanks.

Evening..great setup..just wondering is this possible with a soundbar system?..i have the same yamaha mixer. Need help with connections from the mixer to soundbar instead of a receiver. Cheers👍🏼
You may need and audio splitter. There are many ways to approach this. You can use a fiber optic audio cable with a splitter or and HDMI. These cable will go from your TV to your receiver. The mixer will connect via RCA cables to the back of your receiver for sound.
I really wanted to see how you connected receiver to your speakers. I have a PA speaker that only have RCA (Red/White). Can I connect my speaker to a receiver with just RCA cables? Also instead of youtube I have a Magic Sing karaoke system. It has HDMI slot, and RCA out cables. How would I connect this vs your wireless Mics?
Thank you, you really have the best home Karaoke setup i have seen on YT. So, I just have one question if I may... So for those of us who have a sound bar system as opposed to a home theathre receiver, we would only need to rout the output bjack to rca cables from the mixer into a second converter box (only this time would have to be an analog to digital) to be able to hook it up with the toslink port of the sound bar??? Does this makes sense to you??? Thanks for your reply
Hi there boss, I have the same setup as yours but I don’t get any sound, would you mind helping me out, the only difference between your setting up and I is I have a Toner Microphone and a Sony Bravia smart Tv, many thanks. Arnel
I cant get the sound of the tv to come to the mixer so that I can control the volume. I followed all the steps. Optical cable from back of tv to the audio splitter. From audio splitter to the receiver, from audio splitter to digital analog converter to rca cables going to the mixer via mic jacks.
Hi I follow your steps to conect my mixer y my receiver in my home t but I hear only my microf with out music My question is in my receiver where I need to put to play my music at the same time with my micro
Hi, thank you for posting the video. I had almost the same setup, but I did not use the splitter and receiver. Output from mixer go directly to speaker. Also I did not hook up the mic to mixer yet since the xlr cable has not arrived. Testing it, all I hear from the tv is a pulsing sound. Do you know what could be wrong? TV model: UK6090PUA (optical audio output enabled on tv) Speaker: Samsung MX-T50 sound tower.
I'm not sure about the pulsing sound but you may be able to filter that sound out when you have the mixer connected. Pulsing sounds could be a result of speaker settings or cheap quality cables. If you figure it out please reply.
I have a onkyo tx-ds595, yamaha mixer model MG06 and a 85” TCL roku tv but still I could not successfully set up my karaoke. I followed your set up still nothing. I guess because my onkyo av receiver does not have a STRM BOX input? Please I need your advise. TY.
I asked guys at a store and they literally could not tell me this info! One question.. If you wanted to use wired mics instead, could you skip the microphone box, and plug the mics directly into the mixer?
Hi there! Could you please do a quick video on how you set your receiver up (on the setting screen)? I have all the same equipment but can't figure out how to get the audio out to the speaker.
Hi I have a question -- so in my current setup, SmartTV is connected to soundbar via HDMI ARC. For the Karaoke setup, where audio goes to mixer, I'd use optical cable to dac-- mixer--etc.. and just mute the soundbar?
Hi there, Thank you for putting this video up! Bought the exact system you used and recommended, and also using an Onkyo receiver. But when I plugged it on a dedicated channel, it won’t able to play both the microphones and the background music from the tv through UA-cam, there’s no sounds from the microphones when the optical cable is connected to the receiver, but when it’s disconnected the microphones work but there’s no sounds coming from the tv. Looking forward for a feedback. Highly appreciated. Thank you!
How did you set up the TV output? I got the same set up except for the mic but the udio only come out of the tv if O select optical plus internal speaker and the sound quality it’s not the same on the receiver. What can I do?
This video is soooooooooo helpful! But do I need a mixer if my TV receiver is an ONKYO? Or I can just simply connect mic receiver and TV receiver? Thank you so much!
You can plug the mic straight into the receiver but you might have an audio problem with trying to play music and hear your voice at the same time. The mixer gives you the best experience and control of the sound output.

Thanks for creating a how to video on how to set up a karaoke system. I successfully followed your instructions. One thing that I would like to ask is, "Why is only one of the speakers connected to the mixer play the karaoke sound, when the left mic and the right mic has sound coming out of the corresponding left /right speakers?"

Nice .. very helpfull for beginners 👍
Thanks a lot 😊
Hi there boss, I have the same setup as yours but I don’t get any sound, would you mind helping me out, the only difference between your setting up and I is I have a Toner Microphone and a Sony Bravia smart Tv, many thanks. Arnel
Should work. It is probably just a matter of checking your source inputs for sound. Are you running a HDMI or laser audio optic?
@@VibrantDeals I’m running fiber optical
I cant get the sound of the tv to come to the mixer so that I can control the volume. I followed all the steps.
Optical cable from back of tv to the audio splitter. From audio splitter to the receiver, from audio splitter to digital analog converter to rca cables going to the mixer via mic jacks.
Hi I follow your steps to conect my mixer y my receiver in my home t but I hear only my microf with out music
My question is in my receiver where I need to put to play my music at the same time with my micro
TV model: UK6090PUA (optical audio output enabled on tv)
Speaker: Samsung MX-T50 sound tower.
I'm not sure about the pulsing sound but you may be able to filter that sound out when you have the mixer connected. Pulsing sounds could be a result of speaker settings or cheap quality cables. If you figure it out please reply.
Hi, do i need a smart tv. Followed all your instructions but there is no sound in the mic. Thanks
What is the model number of the Yamaha mixer being used ?
This is the one that I have MG06X ➜amzn.to/3N0XcRF
Will do an update on a video like that and will keep you posted.
Thank you!
Which wireless receiver mic combo are you using. In the description you are listing the tonor 820.
How did you set up the TV output? I got the same set up except for the mic but the udio only come out of the tv if O select optical plus internal speaker and the sound quality it’s not the same on the receiver. What can I do?
I have the TV optical is connected to my AV receiver. You can connect also via RCAs. Try it different ways.
