  • The Argentinian conductor, Carlo Felice Cillario, who was responsible for shaping the operatic climate in Australia from the late 1960s to his retirement almost four decades later, was not generally known for his non-operatic performances. From a recently discovered tape he is heard on the podium with the Sydney Youth Orchestra with Symphony No. 4 of Johannes Brahms. The date of the performance is March 7th, 1993.

Thank you Brian for this superb recording and for keeping Maestro Carlo Felice Cillario s memory alive. He was a superb musician and he conducted the Sydney Youth Orchestra with equal enthusiasm to conducting Callas in Tosca. His Verdi Requiem in the Sydney Concert Hall was also unforgettable not to mention his wonderful opera performances in Sydney and Melbourne. Please continue giving us these gems as you discover them
